  1. I had a similar quandry about how two speakers would sound together. I emailed klipsch and they confirmed the speakers in question were timbre matched and would sound fine together. FWIW, That info was contrary to the info I had found on the forum.
  2. The 64ii is matched to the 83's. A simple email to klipsch cleared that up.
  3. The person that emailed me from Klipsch is Robert Land. He told me the 64ii and the rf 83's are timbre matched. Personally I don't care about timbre matching. All I care about is how it sounds to me. Unfortunately the 83's are discontinued so I can't just go down to my local klipsch dealer and listen to them.
  4. Some is selling an rc-62 in the garage sale section of this forum $350 I believe.
  5. I actually found the 83's brand new for $1300 now! I am gonna give the 7ii's a listen next week and if I'm not blown away then I'll get the 83's. Especially now that Klipsch confirmed they are timbre matched to my 64ii.
  6. Thanks for all the opinions. The difference in sound between the 83's and the 7ii's is very helpful since I don't have the chance to listen to the 83's in person. If u didn't see my other thread about the "timbre" matching then I'll tell you in this thread. I emailed technical support asking them about "timbre" matching the 64ii and this was their response. "Hello Jason, The RC-64 II is timbre matched to the RF-83 as well as the RF-7 II. I would not expect any issues when pairing them up." So I guess that clears the path for me to try the 83's and save some cash for my separates!
  7. I wrote Klipsch technical support trying to find some advise about the pairing of the RC 64 with the 83's. This is their response: "Hello Jason, The RC-64 is timbre matched to the RF-83. I would not expect any issues when pairing them up." Just thought I should share the correct info straight from the horses mouth.
  8. Lol yes quite a pickle. Well I'm not going backwards to an rc64. I will just listen to the 7's when I pick up the 64ii. I think I'm gonna get the 83's unless the 7's blow me away. Can't imagine they will be worth the extra $900 but we'll give them a listen.
  9. I found the 7's for $2200 and the 83's for $1300
  10. Are the rf 7ii's worth the extra $900 over the 83's? I only do home theatre no music. I was planning on the 7's or trying 3 64's to save some cash. But the 83's would save even more. I know nezff runs the 83's but anyone hear both? Just dropped $2300 on subs and the new 64ii and I still want to go with separates at some point so a $900 savings would be helpful. Allthough I don't want to drop $5000 on equipment and decide I made the wrong choice on mains. Anyone with experience want to chime in? Thanks
  11. Lots of questions here. First let me congradulate you on your decision to go with Klipsch. I have had many levels of Klipsch products and I have loved everyone. 1. The ii series has a different crossover. What that means in terms of sound I do not know. someone else will have to chime in on that. They also have slightly different dimensions. 2. Getting the series ii rc 52 is not gonna be an improvment over the regular rc 52. You will here 100 times that you should just get all the same series so they can be "timbre" matched. I don't exactly believe in "timbre" matching exact lines but people will tell you that. I have owned the rc 52 ii. It was not impressive. In fact I went from the synergy c-3 to the rc 52ii hoping for improved sound and I just didn't hear it. I only kept it a few weeks before I sold it and upgraded to the rc 64 ii.From what I have read you are going to be advised to go with th rc 62 ii as your center because it is a big improvement over the 52 ii. IMO you absolutely can use the rc 62 with the rf 52's. I say get the best center channel you can first. You will get the bug and want to upgrade at some point and your center channel won't need to be touched if you spend the money now. 3. straight from THX.com here is their reccomended speaker placement. My advice to you is to not become a slave to specs and advice. Listen on your own. play with the speaker placement. Use the audyssey function on your receiver and set it up the way it sounds best to you in your room. Choice of sub and sub placement in your room can make a huge difference as well so don't overlook your sub. the spot THX.com places the sub in the above photo is not the norm on this forum. Actually I don't recall seeing any home theatres on this forum with the sub placed in the middle under the tv or screen. Ussually they are in the corner or behind a couch. If you ever see them in front under the TV you are going to see 2 subs flanking the center channel. At least from what I have seen on this forum. The center speaker appears to be above the screen in this drawing as well. Some people go above the monitor and some go below. The key is to angle the speaker up or down accordingly to get a straight shot to your listening position. That is the key with all your speakers really. Your fronts should be toed in towards your listeningposition and your surrounds should be poited directly at you from the side. High surrounds or rear surrounds in 7.1 are a little different. Of course as I wrote earlier....it's what sounds best to you. Period.
  12. I emailed Klipsch maybe they can help me out. I will have the chance to try out the rf 7ii with my rc 64ii next week. The shop I am buying the 64 from is getting a set of 7's in at the same time and they are gonna set them up for me. Any thoughts on what would be a good movie to try them with?
  13. Is $1400 a good price for these? I have been debating between the RF 7ii's at $2200 (brand new) and these at $1400. I have not heard either par and I listen to 99% home theatre. I would be coming from F-3's. Anybody have an opinion on what may be a better speaker for my purposes or a btter deal price wise.
  14. I don't recall Shia LaBeouf being nude in any of the Micheal Bay films. Weird.[:|]
  15. Since I have never heard a pair all I can give you is my thoughts on the looks. Pro's: 10 inch drivers, wood veneer front, depth Con's: "half" screen mesh front, the feet are not uniform (I miss the RF 83 style feet), Not sure why Klipsch ever went to the plastic bezel on the reference line to begin with. Even the Synergy line had the wood veneer in front and that is suppossed to be the lower end line. Tell the truth...if you didn't know the specs or price point wouldn't you think the Synergy line was higher end? I mean maybe some would think the gold color drivers may be higher end but is there an owner out there that likes the full face plastic bezel more than the wood veneer? I wish the RF 7ii had metal feet that were designed like the RF 83 feet. Maybe even removable for easier moving. The new 7's look like they are top heavy and leaning forward from the pics on the Klipsch website. I do need to mention again that the wood veneer on the front looks great though...especially in cherry cause it really stands out. I think my personal favorite speaker (physical appearence only) would be the feet and dark cherry color of the classic RF 7. I like that the front veneer of the RF 7ii is a perfect circle around the drivers but I like the front port look on the Synergy line. Also would need the solid color driver from the RF 7ii.
  16. Wow.... so it's not that I love Michael Bay films...but he has produced some that I thought were good. Maybe your not into these types of movies but The remakes he produced of Nightmare on Elm street, Friday the 13th, Amittyville Horror, and Texas Chainsaw massacre were very good. The guy that played freddy was loads better than the original. Friday the 13th was EXACTLY what I expected it to be (random killings and hot young women). Ryan Reynolds was great in Amittyville horror and Texas chainsaw was quality as well. You basically know what your gonna get with Michael Bay...over the top unrealistic action sequences. Just like those in Transformers, Bad boys, and the rock. I mean how can you not like the rock? Sean Connery, Nick Cage, Ed Harris, William Forsythe, John Spencer. even a bad director could make a good movie with that cast. lol
  17. 3. I started with the sub that came with the Klipsch HD300 systems and a slimline 8 inch sub that goes under your chair. Then onto the sub 12 and now I just received 2 eD A5-350's from FedEx today. I went with 2 for because they look cool sitting between my fronts and Center channel. Also still have my underchair sub as it makes your butt vibrate[]
  18. Could be a good point. However many people on this forum use floorstanders as center channels with no apparent complaints. Meaning that if the floorstanders are producing sound different from a center than shouldn't they suffer from poor movie dialogue? Hmmm I wish I could just try it out
  19. Does anyone run 3 rc 64's for their front stage? I have a 64ii now. I was thinking I wanted the rc 7ii's but then I saw someone running 3 rc 7ii's for their front stage. Made me think about running 3 rc 64ii's for L/R/C. I would lay them all horizontal as I have plenty of space to do it. Can anyone think of any drawbacks? I know The 7's are $2200 and the 64's can be had for $1800. I have 2 a5-350's coming so I don't think a loss of low end should be a problem. Thoughts?
  20. Yeah I originally went white as I was gonna use the wall as a screen. I think I'll paint the top and if I don't like that then paint the whole wall.
  21. Yup he's right. I thought I would use the zone 2 but I just never do. Also 7.1 systems are almost worthless to me. For 7.1 to work you need content that plays in 7.1 which is few and far between.
  22. True. Lol ..... Looking for opinions here. Does anyone think I should Paint the area above the screen in the same manor as I did under the screen?
  23. I have some experience with the HD series. I own the HD300 set. I actually use mine for surrounds. I liked them so much that I bought my dad a set and sent him my sub so he has two now. That was when I upgraded to the klipsch synergy sub 12. His 2 subs sounds much better and of course my sub 12 was a large improvement over the one HD300 sub. Of course now I just ordered some new subs and am selling my sub 12. So on to avr's.... I started with a Sony that I quickly returned. Then bought the onkyo tx sr608. Very happy with it. I bought my dad a yamaha 367 which is definatley not top of the line but it sounds good with his dual sub HD300 set up. Denon and yamaha and onkyo are all quality brands. The couple questions that come to mind, are you going to upgrade your speakers in the future? If so I would spend the money and get an avr with preouts for a separate amp later. If not then preouts are not needed. Will you use it for iPod music or to stream pandora? You need an iPod capable avr and if you want to stream music online then you'll need a network avr. Are you planning on watching 3d movies? Cause you'll need an avr capable of processing 3d content. If all u want to do is watch movies in regular hd and listen to the radio or cd's then an avr from one of the companies I mentioned in the $200-$300 range will be all you need. Also shop online as the prices are much cheaper.
