  1. Well, I finally pickup up a set of Quartets last week, and I have to say I was immediately impressed. I basically just disconnected my RF-3's from my HT system and plugged the Quartets right in. Originally I had purchased the quartets for a stereo setup I was going to make, but now I don't know what to do. The quartets sound better, put out more bass, and fill the room better than the RF-3s. They put out so much bass that I actually turned off my sub. They are some amazing speakers. I really wanted to find a set of Fortes, but these came up. The price was right and they came with a free receiver. Right now I am living back at home until my home sale goes through...gotta love a short sale. So right now I am at the mercy of being jammed into my tiny old bedroom. As you can see from the picture, things are a little cramped. I have my HT setup in there, and I must say it's going to be hard to disconnect the quartets and go back to the RF-3s. So now I am left at a crossroads. I want to keep the quartets in my HT system, but I want a stereo system too. Now I want to find some La Scalas, and maybe even a Belle. I have become crazed with Heritage products and want nothing more than to collect them all. I feel like a drug addict or a pokeman master. "Gotta Collect Them All!" And I am so confused what to do. For now I am jammed in a shoe box, so I will keep thing like they are....but maybe I can sell the RF-3s & RS-3s and use that money to buy some Fortes or La Scalas....or I could just go a whole other route. My real dream is to have a room with a pair of La Scalas, Fortes, Quartets, Belles, and K-horns. They would be mobile, so I could re-arrange them on a whim. Maybe two pair of each, that way I could use them for a HT. Pipe dreams are a lot of fun. I guess I better get on winning the lottery so I can make my dreams come true.
  2. When I first visited with PWK in Hope the main thing I noticed in the work area was SILENCE. Paul said they cut wood once a week, and most of the rest of the work was manual pieceing, gluing, and screwing. No way Heritage could ever be the the profit center for a speaker company with a significant and lasting footprint. IMHO, also no way for a company without such a heritage can ever last. Also no way I can really prove the above except through my own experience having stood in the presence of true greatness and knowing that as long as these designs were being built the organization that PWK began could not help but dedicate itself to excellence. There are a lot of products in the Klipsch lineup today that I do not believe PWK would personally endorse. However, I firmly believe that all of them reflect his belief that that audio should be done at the highest level of quality and the lowest possible cost. Should a decision be made to discontinue Paul's designs, even if they are costing money rather than making money, then Klipsch is no more than the other great names of American ingenuity that are now gone. I'll not call that roll, as it makes me want to cry. However, we speak prematurely. Let's hope the new owners are not as dumb as posts and they are willing to leave well enough alone. History suggests that is unlikely, but we can hope. Hope, that is. Dave "Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane." -Red The Shawshank Redemption
  3. I just found this post and I must say I am floored. I have just gotten into Klipsch. I bought my first Klipsch speaker (RC-52) at a high end audio store just north of Chicago (ABT). I was so excited when I brought it home and set it up. I honestly couldn't believe my ears. I could hear the dialog for once, and everything just seemed that much clearer. I have lost a bit of my hearing over the years of loud music and screaming airplane engines. I needed a speaker like this. And now I fear that my ride into Klipschdom may be cut short. [:'(] I want to experience all the magic of the heritage, reference, and legend speakers. I hope that they continue to be available for some time to come. But I have this terrible feeling in pit of my stomach that prices are going to soar, and supply is going to dry up. Sounds like some sort of dooms day scenario. I feel like it could be a very real thing soon. So let's keep our fingers crossed, and pray to whatever you pray to that Klipsch will remain the great company it is. If not, I would like to say that I am looking for a pair of Cornwalls, a pair of Heresys, a RC-7, a pair of RF-7's, some KLF-30's, a pair of Khorns, a pair of La Scalas, and a pair of Belles. Hope I didn't forget any. Guess I can use this money I had saved for a downpayment on a house. [H]
  4. I have read of issues like this involving the iphone and pioneer receivers. It seems that the latest update from apple has caused a lot of problems with accessories working properly with the iphone. I know Apple is aware of the problem, but it will not be addressed until the next software update. Hopefully that is sooner than later.
  5. Well, let's not just jump to conclusions...have you actually tried contacting Klipsch to see what they are willing to do for you. The way I read the warranty, it seems like they wouldn't cover it if the wire got cut in half by something you did. I understand your frustration with the wording of the warranty, but until you've contacted them, this just seems a bit much.
  6. Just one more though, I know if you don't set the Sub to Plus in the setup menu the sub will only play LFE sounds. I know I ran into this issue when initially setup my system. Just FYI, don't know if it will help.
  7. I am going to be repairing my speaker grills this weekend. I plan on using cabinet magnets to hold the grills on. I will make a post when I have everything done, and will even include a parts list and DIY. Maybe I can even put a kit together.
