  1. One minor (NOT!) detail, I don't have the 26" deep space for the SW-115. I presume it's 26" + 1+" for the cable(s). Any problem facing them sideways on the front wall to provide more room?
  2. Well, I used to be handy with tools but alas, my body fails me, too many health issues. Of course, I always think I can, just have to be realistic. For your custom sub, how low does it go? What do you think the entire setup would cost for you to build, parts + labor? Approximate. PM me if needed. Yes, I used to live in Bixby, just S of Tulsa, always loved Tulsa.
  3. Calera, OK, rural. About an hour from Dallas area. Room is 15x25, 9/10' ceiling, Quest AI panels, bass trap, mostly soundproof, double sheetrock green glued, etc. I don't have a budget. I don't subscribe to the method where one buys the most they can afford, that's simply not me. Instead, I buy what sound good enough for me for the lowest price. I can't believe the BIC would be any better than the SW-310. I am almost convinced though that a pair of SW-115 might fit the bill due to the lower end. It is hard to find a similar or lower priced sub than can go down that far.
  4. What about the Bic PL-200? Any good? It goes down to 22Hz. 12' instead of SW-115 15", but, I can get it *vastly* cheaper. Thinking of 2 of them.
  5. I see, well, it was admittedly a test only. i.e., with the minimal effort and time, so many things to do when moving, just tried the KSP-400's with each having one sub, not calibrated (well it is calibrated, just to old house) to see if a simple test could show me if subs can drive enough volume wise, and it was clear they could. Was not considering the low end, which I should. Receiver is Pioneer SC-55.
  6. Well, bigger is not always better! I laugh when I see that commercial and see people hauling around oversize phones that don't fit anywhere. Anyway, here's the thing. I have a pretty good theater room, mostly air tight, bass trap, quest ai panels, and, currently set it up with my KSP-400 speakers, each of which have a sub, and, that was way overpowered, the bass. So, I don't want anything more bass wise than they provide. Not sure if the room affects the bass level, but, sure seems that way. It was much different in my old house in just a "room".
  7. I live near Dallas, actually across the border in Oklahoma. I have 2 KSP-400, 1 KSF-C5, and 2 KSP-S5 speakers. They are black, and, the trim is not peeling or anything like that. They are in pretty good shape! If you are interested, I could take pictures. So, a matched set in other words. Now, the KSP-400's, as you may know, had troubles with hum and sub amps. Mine have no amps in them as they had broken long ago after several replacements. They were modified via instructions on this site to add a metal back plate so they can be driven with an external amp since parts are not really available any more. So, problem is solved! This works beautifully, and sounds better than they did when brand new, and the plate was machine cut and looks like it was made that way from the beginning. So, I have a Crown XLS1000 amp that goes with these speakers to drive the subs in the speakers. I won't unbundle the speakers. I would prefer not to ship them as I have no boxes and not even sure how quite honestly. If you have a way to do so, I suppose that's fine. Send me PM with any offer.
  8. Are the sides able to be flush mounted as well?
  9. Well, the back speakers will be 15 feet behind the listener. They each will be mounted on top of an acoustic panel. So, based on that, RB or RS?
  10. So, if I buy Klipsch RF-62 ii system, which includes 5 speakers and a sub, what would be the best Klipsch to pair with said system to make it 7.1?
  11. Yes a pair would get me half way there but already saw that. The condition is somewhat known, and I had asked the seller a question about their condition two days ago with no reply. So, I will not be bidding on them and still need two pair. I always watch Ebay. Was hoping someone here had the speakers they no longer wanted.
  12. Need black, need four of them, or I suppose 2 from 2 people. Anyone have any for sale? If so let me know and the condition.
  13. That's a good point, thanks. Now I have to find 4 of those somehow.
  14. I have a pair of KSF-S5 surround speakers paired with my KSP-400 front speakers. I've never thought the KSF-S5 speakers sounded very loud, overwhelmed by the front speakers (to me). Soon, I will have a HT room wired for 7.1. Meaning, I either need 4 new surrounds, or, 2 new surrounds to go with the existing KSF-S5. I believe KSP-S6 will also work with the KSP-400's, should be an ok match. Not sure anything newer would though. I am wondering if the KSP-S6 surrounds are louder than the S5? Is there a newer speaker that might work well with the KSP-400s? I will never get rid of these speakers, I have always loved them.
  15. Or, should I find some used KSP-S6 to match the KSP-400's I have? Anyone have KSP-400's with some of the newer surrounds? If so, how do they match up, work well together?
  16. They've always been too quiet for my taste. Nothing like the sides in a theater. Have you used both the S5 and S6? And if so, do you find the S6 any louder at the same volume playing the same thing?
  17. I have a pair of KSP-400's which I love, a center S5, and, a pair of KSF-S5. The KSF-S5 I always thought didn't pump out enough sound in a 5.1 setup. New HT room will be 7.1 setup, so, will need (at least) 2 more speakers. I was thinking the KSF-S5 might be better as surround back speakers. Any thoughts on that? So, the question then becomes, what would match these speakers as side surrounds?
  18. A strange occurrence on speaker 2, which had the working AMP in it with no hum. Hooked up to the crown, by itself as I did speaker 1 for testing, there is definitely a real hum. I don't understand that, the test was identical, there is no internal electronics, yet, hum. It's not the Crown making the hum thusly. Is there anything I could have done wrong to cause the hum?
  19. I wouldn't trade my KSP-400's for anything.I love them. I am almost done, so, no need for anyone else to try and "fix" them.
  20. I've got one speaker completed and put back together. It worked beautifully first time. No hum, no noise, good sound. The Crown receiver (new model) is very quiet. Don't hear it either. Had to change my AV receiver settings for the Crown apparently and while at it, I changed the receiver to send no 80Hz or less audio to the regular speakers whereas before, apparently they were. I can change it to 100Hz, I will experiment if that sounds better or not once I get both done. Sound is very good, pretty darn loud! Had to set the max sound also on the receiver for the subs, which, once I get the second one done, will likely have to revisit. I have a movement disorder, and, its very hard to stay sitting, standing, or bent, etc. for too long. I have one good KSP-400 internal amp that I can sell to someone if they want it. I have no (that I can hear) hum from it. Of course, move it to a new system, and YMMV. Ground loops, all sorts of things can happen. And, I am not even using a cheater 3-2 prong adapter or any other trick. Somebody may not want to go through the pain of modifying their speakers, and I guess there are no spare parts any more. Or easy ones, reading back, you tried a lot of folks with little or no luck! So, it needs a good home. I listed it on the for sale section, anhone who might want it, just PM me.
  21. Sure, I am going to buy this one from this company: Panamax M4320-PRO. They've always done me right, and, it's a superb product due to the ability to program it, and, it's 20 AMP! I simply love the flexibility. I've owned Panamax for more than 10 years now and it's saved my system several times. We actually suffered a near miss by lightning one time that knocked things off the wall from the boom (and I almost hit the ceiling from the, well, fright!), and, lost so many things in the house. It was very expensive! But not the A/V system. I actually have two side by side Synergy cabinets, and, one of them will simply use a strip off of the M4320-PRO. So, for the stuff in that cabinet, it's will all be always on equipment like DVRs so that it doesn't need by outlet in essence. This essentially extends the number of outlets you have. Panamax is one of those picky companies that doesn't warrant the product except from their list of online dealers. I got a good price since I didn't need "free 2 day shipping", we all know that isn't free! For the Crown, I got the best price from zzounds, them I am unfamiliar with, hopefully, they are a good company.
  22. Sequential turn on will be done by a programmed surge protector. It can set delay by outlet.
