  1. I have the promedia 5.1's but from what I understand you have to get a really expensive receiver to be able to hook them up.
  2. are systems like the kenwood really that bad? Im not incredibly picky with audio, I just want something decent.
  3. $500 for the speakers and receiver, I have a DVD player.
  4. Im looking to get a prepackaged HT from a place like Circuit City or Best Buy for around $500, I know these arent the greatest but its really all I can afford for some time. Can anyone give good brand/product recomendations?
  5. They look very similar to the Promedias, do they have the same quality control issues?
  6. Im wanting to get a fairly cheap speaker system for my tv/dvd at around $500, I realize that this is a bit low end but I was hoping I could get some advice on what to look for.
  7. Well my 4.1's died and are out of warranty(of course) and now I need to find some new speakers. I am completely fed up with klipsch and thus want to try something else. Can anyone reccomend a good system for around 300$US?
  8. Where can you buy the Sirocco speakers if you live in the U.S?
  9. Is there anyway to run the sound cables from the playstation into the klipsch portable audio connector thingy? I have a y connector thingy that connects fine but I get no sound.
  10. I use one of those fairly large 19' fans, due to the crapped colleage dorm room it needs to be right next to my speakers, is this dangerous to the speakers in any way?
  11. Having 5.1 cant save the DTT2500's from sounding like crap.
  12. The 4.1's are infinitely superior to anything cambridge craps out. I use my 4.1's at fairly low volume a lot in the dorms and they still sound fine, if its really a problem you can always get headphones.
  13. Does anyone know if the Hercules works like the Philips and 'splits stereo signals into 5.1 sound'? Thanks! no, and Phillips method of doing it dosent work all that well anyway.
  14. Bah, hes only got the 5.1's? I already got the 6.1's.
  15. Some people will never be happy, would you rather they release a half assed version just so its on time?
  16. I'd reccomend you build it yourself if possible.
  17. I still wanna know how to talk out of my butt..... Ask George Bush
  18. Sorry mike, but unlike you I consider the factors before wasting money needlessly instead of just thinking hey its got a 5 instead of a 4 I gotta go buy it! The 5.1's have their purposes but for the situation snakescott just described it would be a complete waste of money to get the 5.1's.
  19. Mike, is every post you make to promote the 5.1's? The 5.1's are NOT that great and they are NOT intended for desktop computer use because you are far too close to need the center channel. And unless you watch DVD's a lot then its just another 100 down the toilet.
  20. Is klipsch planning on releasing an upgrade for the speaker wire on the 4.1's?
  21. if you used the 2.1's as center speaers wouldnt it damage your monitor as they are not magenetically shielded?
  22. I am in the same situation, I would say to stay with the 4.1's. From what I heard there are some improvements to the system(stronger base, no more crappy connectors) but I dont think its worth the extra money.
  23. unless your big into dvd's or a complete audiophile(in which case you should get better speakers anyway) I dont see the point.
  24. I noticed alot of people say this gives better sound quality however im guessing you need to be able to solder to do this which I cant, is Klipsch planning on making its own wires sometime in the near future?
  25. I am having a pletora of problems with these things(and they are only like 4 months old) -Ocasionally especially when watching DVD's the sound will crackle(especially during times with lots of bass) -The static noise in the front speakers is noticeably louder then the back(if I switch the cables then the back is the loud one) -Fairly often the sound in the front right speaker will fail and I have to pull out my computer and jiggle the cord for it to come back -Sometimes the front speakers will start exhibiting some really bizzare sounds that they shouldn't I have made sure all the connections are tight and everything but am still having problems. Are my speakers just shot or what? I got a replacement plan from best buy in the chance that this would happen, but I was reading it and it says coverage is limited to $200(they were 250). So did best buy screw me over or has anyone else been able to return them to best buy? This message has been edited by Porno Pete on 06-17-2001 at 11:02 PM
