  1. I'm gonna set it up tomorrow with bare concrete walls and see what happens, then go from there. I think an easy think to do is put up curtains across the walls and when the funds come I can put up dry wall and have it done right.
  2. Remember that the hard surfaces are reflective surfaces. Painting concrete will do nothing to decrease the reflectivity of the sound, but can certainly look quite nice. If you aren't going to sheet rock the walls, I'd suggest industrial carpet tile. It can be had at well under $1. per square foot and would absorb some sound. For the ceiling, a floating ceiling is great for running wires, but the metal wire frame as a tendency to vibrate some. It can work just fine. thanks for the reply. If I painted the concrete, would acoustic panells help at all?
  3. found another favorite- Where is the love? -Black eyed peas
  4. I've thought about the curtains, I don't think it will look to bad and would be pretty inexpensive. Any suggestions on painting the concrete and put up some kind of acoustic paneling? Any suggestions on flooring? I was thinking laying some tile. DIY stuff. Any suggestions on the ceiling? Thanks
  5. I am working on plans for an open theater room in our basement. Has anyone on here had concrete walls in their theater room? Do you guys have any advice to make for better acoustics? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks
  6. Its a good looking stand. How do you like the tv? do you do any gaming on it?
  7. Welcome! Nice room! Looks comfy. Did you really look at all 216 pages? Wow! I have to say that I did the same! Looking for ideas about a more dedicated theater area. Some amazing set ups on here!
  8. Nezff- Where did you get your TV stand? Are you happy with the giant mits? I'm looking at the same thing from dell.com
  9. Can you tell a difference with the plug? Does music sound better with it in and movies with it out?
  10. Depends on how much you have to spend.......I like the Emotiva Ultra 12 cause it is sealed and has a different sound then ported. (You do not necessarily hear it like you can hear a ported sub; you FEEL it kicking you). Thanks for the replies. Can you elaborate a little on sealed vs. ported? And possibly give a ported suggestion also? Bill- The LFM-1 looks awesome, I'll definately be watching for deals on it Thanks
  11. Thanks for the quick reply! I really do like the sub during movies, as you said, but I listen to a lot of music too and I agree with you that music isn't as great. It sounds good, but I think I could find something better. Has anyone had experience with PA-120 or something similar??
  12. So I got a deal on craigslist a while back with quintets, a sub12, and a pioner vsx-917 for $400. I upgraded to a rf-35 setup and sold the quintets and receiver (kept the sub12) for $400... I have been looking around the forums for a while and see good things about the A3-300 and the PA-120. My questions are: How do these compare to my sub12? If I sold my sub12, what would be a better sub to replace it with (under $400 new or used)? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, IHOP
  13. cant wait to get my blu ray and new receiver, then.. 73" mits 3D TV!
  14. ...right sorry for the bad iphone picture
  15. Here's my setup. Purchased rf-35s, rc-35 and rs-35s for a total of $600 off of different sellers on craigslist. Got my rx-v363 for $75. I'm in the market for a blu ray player and new receiver (looking to spend about $250 for both). I got the sub 12 for free, basically. I bought quintet IIIs, a pioneer vsx-917 and the sub 12 for $400, then sold the quintets and pioneer receiver for $380! I <3 C list! and klipsch!
  16. I just wanted to know what everyones favorite song to either show off your system or just to jam too! Mine has to be Earth Wind and Fire - September Or when I'm really feelin' it: Notorious BIG - Dead Wrong, Hypnotize, and Juicy etc.
  17. I'm actually in Kansas city,Missouri.
  18. I am not sure which to choose. I have both right now. The pioneer has a "bi-amp" setting that puts the surround back power to the front speakers (good for music listening) but Yamaha is a more trusted brand (from what I've read) Any input is appreciated.
  19. Its a 62in DLP (no way im putting that on top of my speaker). I just put it halfway on the floor/ halfway in the shelf with a 3 inch thick peice of cardboard box under it so its propped up.. doesn't sound too bad! I'll post a picture when I get the chance.
