  1. Thanks for the head up! Neither have buy now options, so not really sure how expensive their going to get, but I'll keep an eye on 'em.
  2. I'd go with option 3 if possible. I couldn't make that decision. I love the Heresys and the RF3s.
  3. The Guess Who is cool, been listening to them since I was little. What song is that though?
  4. Actually HornEd, if you want a little "Jo-Jo trivia," I can't scream. I think it's cause I was such a tomboy when I was younger. But, if I was ever in the situation of the terror of DwK's bad side of driving (), I think I'd take the bus... or walk... Love you DwK!!!
  5. So like, I've been looking for some Klipsch that are cheaper than buying straight from the company right? I've checked out a bunch of online sites, as well as gotten recommendations from fellow "forum goers." I've kinda gotten the impression that ebay is the only semi-reliable place as far as bidding goes. I haven't gotten a real good impression of places like Ubid. Am I wrong?
  6. Well, I'm not an expert on matching subs with systems or anything, but I highly recommend the Velodyne HGS series.
  7. This is me eating my words... he wasn't THAT bad... he's just a monkey...
  8. When I listened to the SB3's in the store here, I didn't like them very much. I suppose it's all where you are and the equipment you're using. The acoustics could've been different.
  9. I was in the car! Scary stuff... not cool. I'll also have y'all know I had him take me home!
  10. Eww... yeah, I'd rather stay away from far northern states, if I can help it (also Canada). Shipping normally runs higher, and I don't want to end up paying like $600 total; then I might as well have bought some speakers new. I'm putting my little search on hold cause I'm now considering a deal with a fellow Klipsch forum person. All I can do is hope . *Crosses fingers* This message has been edited by Jo-Jo on 07-25-2001 at 02:41 PM
  11. Thanks Mr. Blorry! I tried to find a website for the place in Arlington, and I got something about schizophrenia. But, I found the website for Sound Idea. They aren't open Sundays, but I'll call them this week and check prices because their Klipsch link just leads to this Klipsch site. I'm thinking they won't be very different though.
  12. I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area; I'd think that'd be a prime place to find some, but the only true dealer I know about is Hillcrest. Other places I've visited only have the Pro Medias.
  13. Well, I dropped the deal with the guy in Alaska because he decided to up the price when he FINALLY got back to me. Then, the second guy decided not to sell his Heresys, so now I'm stuck. The second guy has a pair of Heresy IIs, but I'm just not inclined to spend as much on them; am I wrong? There's a pair of Heresy IIs on ebay, but there's no buy now feature, and the speakers are already at $550. If anyone spots some cheap but decent Klipsch speakers anywhere, let me know. Around here I'm just not lucky enough to find a pair at a garage sale. This message has been edited by Jo-Jo on 07-21-2001 at 03:12 PM
  14. Yay! RF3s! I approve...
  15. If you really want quintets, everyone and their dog is selling them cheap on ebay. But, from what I've heard, they're really not that great. I recommend getting something better; Klipsch makes a lot of good speakers- you can find some of them that are pretty cheap. Does size matter to you at all? Are you trying for the same size as the Pro Medias, or are you just looking for sound quality? This message has been edited by Jo-Jo on 07-20-2001 at 10:21 AM
  16. I already have another post, "Heresey Opinions," but I'm not really sure this would make sence there. Before, I had been talking about liking the RF3s I heard at Hillcrest. I've kinda decided that they're kinda out of my budget, but I've come across some cheap Heresys and Heresy IIs. I would like to know if there is a big difference between the sound of the original and the Heresy IIs, and whether either of them would be a better deal than the RF3s. I was also wondering if someone could better explain the concept of passive speakers vs nonpassive (forgot other term). I have a general idea, but I was looking for more specific. I was told the RF3s are passive. Thanks.
  17. Grr... I've contacted another guy who is selling Heresys and Heresy IIs (via edster), so now I'm waiting on two people to email me back... I've been waiting on one guy since Monday night, and I just tried to check my email, but I got a message saying that due to routine maintenance, I won't be able to check it again until about 12:00-1:00 tomarrow afternoon. edster, you wouldn't want to sell me a pair of your heresys would you?
  18. I already tried the UPS site, didn't help a whole lot, besides, I've found that both FedEx and UPS are charging more than the regular Postal Service does. This message has been edited by Jo-Jo on 07-16-2001 at 09:14 PM
  19. Also, I haven't had much experience with the post office yet; does anyone know if you can ship speakers through media mail? (cheapest rates I've found)
  20. quote: Originally posted by edster00: Now I don't know how far you live from the seller, and I don't know if the seller intends to take them to a shipping/packing service (like Mail Boxes etc) etc, but I shipped a pair of Cornwalls (~110 lbs each) from Georgia to New York for $80. This guy lives in Alaska... I'm in Texas... Just about as far as I could get in the U.S. I'm curious, how did you ship your Cornwalls? His speakers aren't packaged or anything yet. 21. Actually, I was already ahead of y'all. Attached is the same speaker with the grills off. This is not through ebay, this guy posted an ad on another BBS. The way we're talking, I think payment for packaging is going to be a good faith deposit, but the actual speaker cost is going to be COD. He's going to front payment for shipping, and the good faith deposit will re-emberse him. Altogether, he said he'd go $500 to my doorstep. That accounts for about $100 for shipping and handeling and the speakers will actually only cost me $400 that I won't have to pay until I get the speakers. He gave me his phone number; I'm going to call him tonight. I think I'm going to get myself some decent speakers.
  22. Alright, I'm looking for opinions here. I'm finally putting my hands on some cash for speakers. I wanted RF3s, but I couldn't get my hands on a pair cheap enough. Attached is a picture of one of a pair of Heresys I found a guy selling for around $450 (not Heresy II's). Shipping isn't looking very cheap, but he said we could probably work something out as far as affordability goes. He says they're in mint condition. He bought them unfinished and had them stained and resealed. He's got the original manual as well, they've just been sitting in storage awhile, and the guy is getting ready to move. My question is, before I actually agree to buy them, what are the professional opinions of the Klipsch folk? Is this a good deal, or can I find something better, cheaper? $450 is pretty much the most I want to spend, if I can help it. If I go any higher, I'm thinking I should just buy the RF3s and SoundDistributors.com. Thanks.
  23. It's probably just because they were released at the same time. People just automatically go with the better speaker. Am I wrong?
