    X10 vs s4

I do use the X10i from time to time. After more than a year of using both, I still like the sound of the S4/S5 phones better. With that said, you can't beat the X10i for the small size. It's almost like you don't have anything in your ears.

    X10 vs s4

Well, I tried plugging into my stereo when I first got the X10i and listened to some CD's. I still thought the S4i sounded better. [*-)] I thought about an amp more than once, but using the Nano with the S4i works just fine for me. It has plenty of bass without the need to turn the volume too high.
  4. Yes I got the T100 and got the right ones for my earbuds. They just didn't seal tightly enough. The Klipsch eargels work much better in my ears. YMMV.
  5. A tight seal is what you want. The OEM tips are comfortable in my ears for hours. For what it's worth, I tried the Comply tips and thought they were terrible. I couldn't get them to seal in my ears and one kept coming off and getting stuck in my ear. I use the large size. Some people may even need an extra-large size, but I don't think Klipsch makes an extra-large size.

    X10 vs s4

I too have both the S4i (and S5i) and the X10i. I don't like the X10i near as much as the S4i/S5i. The sound just isn't as good to me (my hearing is very good) when I listen to my iPod. The bass is lacking. At lower listening volumes the bass just doesn't cut it with me. At higher volumes, the mids & highs get way too loud before the bass does. I purchased all of three of these headphones from Klipsch online so there shouldn't be any issue of copies. The only time I listen to my X10i phones is when I want a smaller pair in my ears if I'm going somewhere. For my workouts, I always use (and enjoy) my S5i since they are more moisture resistant.

I received the cleaning tool with my S4i & X10i headphones. I have never used the cleaning tool. I suppose my ears aren't dirty enough for wax to build up and clog the ear gels. If you feel the need to clean them, just take off the ear gel and clean in warm soapy water, rinse, carefully dry, and then re-install on the ear bud.
  8. Is it possible that your not clicking it fast enough? It's like double-clicking a computer mouse, but three times.
  9. I've noticed this with my older portable CD player. The sizing/depth of the jack must be just slightly different than the 4-segment Apple jack. It doesn't do this with my computer or my very old cassette/radio player or (obviously) with any of my Apple devices. Many 3-segment (stereo) jacks will work while some won't. If you're good with taking electronics apart, you could replace the jack with a compatible one (likely less than $10).

    X7i

I appreciate taking the time for your post. I do use an iPod for music listing when I work out (more hours than you could believe). The S5i is my favorite for that. I used to use the S4i for workouts, but started using the S5i when they came out (they sound about the same). The S5i is much more sweat resistant. My Image ONE's sound better than any of my in-ear phones, but I don't use them for vigorous (and sweaty) work outs. I guess the X10i just isn't the best matched with the iPod as compared to the S5i/S4i. I know my X10i is real as I ordered them through Klipsch. They do sound excellent, but just lack a bit of bass. I like the X10i if I'm listing to music on the go as the tiny size is nice. As you likely realize, I know about the seal which is the same with the X10's or S5's. I use the large ear gels (wish there was an extra-large size). I'm not ready to buy Beats, or other brands. I was just wondering how the X7 differs (or is the same) as the X10 which is why I started this post. []
  11. I certainly wouldn't play them at full volume and let them burn in for hours. I have several earbuds/phones (see below) and they all sounded good right out of the box. I didn't hear any difference after many hours of normal use.

    X7i

. . . well, I like the bass in my Image ONE headphones even more, but don't use them when I exercise. []

    X7i

Thanks for your comment. Actually, I feel that my X10i's are lacking bass; I like the bass in my S5i (and S4i) better. I was hoping the bass would be more pronounced in the new X7i. I use my S5i most of the time because I like the bass (and the iControl is water resistant).

    X7i

Anybody "in the know" have any data how the soon to be released X7i compares to the S4/S5 or the X10i? Specifically, I wonder about the bass they will be capable of.
  15. My suggestion would be to buy the "a" version. I got the "i" version for my headphones and am really glad I did. It is nice to be able to control the volume and skip functions with the control. I put my iPod in my back jersey pocket while I exercise and wouldn't want to have to grab the unit every time I wanted the volume or song to change.
  16. Actually, I prefer the sound of the X4i/X5i over the X10i. The X10 may sound a bit cleaner, but the bass is lacking in my opinion. When I received my X10i I was a bit dissapointed in the lack of bass. For the price, I thought it would be better. []
  17. You can buy just the S4. It costs just a little more for the "i" or the "a" version. So if you don't need the remote/mic unit, just get the standard S4.
  18. I got a set of the Compy ear-foams. I didn't like them at all. Not only did they not seal as well as the Klipsch ear-gels, one came off the earbud and stayed im my ear. [:|] [N]
  19. The S5i is very like the S4i as far as sound and functionality. They may use the exact same driver, but I cannot say for certain. The S5i is more durable due to thicker wires and is water resistant (according to Klipsch). The Apple control is a lot larger on the S5i. I have the iPhone 4 which works well with either the S4i or S5i. I will assume the same for the iPhone 4S. I use my S5i's with my iPod mostly and it works perfectly with that.
  20. Yes, they will work with the PC, but the Apple control won't do anything. You will need to adjust the volume and skip songs from the PC.
  21. I don't know about abuse, but the S5i is certainly more rugged than the S4i. The wire is a bit heavier and the Apple control is a lot bigger. The buds themselves have a rubbery coating possibly making it easier to remove from your ears by not pulling on the wire). As far as sound, I'd like to say they are the same, but I actually prefer the S5i sound. Maybe I just get a better fit. What I really like about the S5i is the water resistance over the S4i. I use mine in my indoor cylcing sessions in the winter where I sweat a lot and I'm hoping the S5i will resist this. By the way, my S4i buds are well over a year old and neither side has failed. Maybe I am just more gentle than some when I remove and store them. (the Apple control on the S4i failed due to sweat, but I was able to disassemble & repair it.)
  22. Can you set your music device to play in mono mode? My iPod has a mono setting. That way both earbuds would have both left & right channels and you should hear all the music in either ear piece.
  23. You might want to try the upside-down insertion too. You put the left bud into the left ear, but with the wire facing up; and then wrap the wire up and around the back of your ear. That's how I use my S4's & S5's since the little flap of skin in front of my ear (the tragus) interferes with the wire down method of insertion.
  24. Everybody's ears are a little different. My S4i's (& S5i's) fit better when I turn them upside down. The tragus on my ear tends to interfere with the insertion of the ear bud body if I insert them the "normal" way. In addition, other advantages of using the upside down method include; wire wrapped up and over the earlobe will secure the bud better during vigorous exercise, and if exercising to the point where you sweat a lot, the sweat won't travel down the wire into the control ruining it (I damaged my S4i control because of sweat). When I do my indoor cycling (think puddles under the bike), I turn them upside down but don't wrap the wires behind my ears. The wires stick out away from my ear lobes minimising the sweat from dripping down the wire. By the way, you can repair a sweat-ruined control (I did) if you have the correct tools (ESD strap, tiny tweezers, microscope), but I wouldn't recommend it for the average user.
