  1. I am selling my M1HPA, which I have only had for about a year with less than 100 hours of playtime. It is pretty much brand new and is more like a demo item now. It sounds amazing with my Denon AH-d5000 headphones. I purchased it from Audio Advisor and am selling it because I haven't been using it. I bought it when I lived in an apartment, but now that I rent a home, I listen to music through my main speakers. There are a few minor scuffs on the chassis, but they are only noticeable if you're looking for them. I'm asking $525 + Paypal fees + Shipping. I have the original packaging and will make sure it has a nice outer box and will arrive safely. I will try and post pictures tomorrow when I have time. I forgot how to do it.[]
  2. Thanks for the info Moray James- I really appreciate it.
  3. My Dad has a Vintage Marantz 2275 that is in need of slight restoration and cleaning. He took great care of it and I want get it restored to its former glory for him. Would replacing the caps completely change the original warm sound of this receiver? I guess that I'm worried about that happening after reading that it would on certain ebay listings for these receivers. I live in Nebraska- does anybody know where I could have this done professionally?
  4. Thanks for the information willland, I really appreciate it. Maybe my question was pretty stupid, seeing that these cornwalls are super-efficient. I'm just trying to figure out what happened to the midrange diaphragm on my left speaker. Dtel I'm curious, I may end up buying one of these T-amps- any suggestions on a particular brand? Is it possible that my cornwalls iiis were overpowered? I sit about 14ft away from my front speakers, and before this happened to my left speaker, I downloaded a spl meter app on my phone. I'm sure that it wasn't very accurate, but it measured around 80 decibels on average when I listened to my music, and reached 85 max. Maybe I should purchase a dedicated spl meter online to get better results, but I never noticed any sort of distortion. Anyway, that didn't seem incredibly loud to me, but could I have been putting any sort of strain on the speakers? Could the sort of music I was playing cause problems, especially if it's a poor recording? I listened to some Social Distortion and Jerry Cantrell which sounded alright even though they weren't the best recordings. I've listened to a lot worse than that before though. Also, I listen to my music digitally streaming from my computer to a Logitech Squeezebox Touch, which is connected to my Marantz by a digital optical cable. I'm using the Dac in my Marantz. All of my music is in Flac format- I don't listen to mp3s. Maybe I should only listen to cds with my player directly connected to my receiver- no streaming. It seems like this could be the weak link in my living room setup, but could it also be a reason for my diaphragm failing?
  5. These klipsch speakers really are impressive- I would love to hear them powered with an amp at 4wpc. Hey speakerfritz, I'm really enjoying that Shanling tube amp with my fortes man.[] I forgot to get back to you on that. You packaged them great and gave some useful instructions, thanks again.
  6. Hey thanks for the response dtel. That sounds great, I'm glad my Marantz can handle it. I don't play at extreme levels or anything, so I'm sure what I have will work great- I would rather not purchase another amp if I don't have to as I just purchased these Cornwall iiis!! I guess I am worried because the midrange driver is already going out in one my speakers. I received them new on Monday and have been babying them all week, trying to burn them in. I watched a little bit of a Game of Thrones Thursday, and noticed today that I'm getting a distorted, fuzzy sound from the left speaker's midrange. I'm getting a replacement part for it right away with the warranty, but it is still rather depressing that this happened. I don't know, maybe I didn't burn them in long enough before I watched the bluray, or maybe I just had bad luck with a faulty part. Hopefully that's all it was, but now I'm a bit paranoid. Any ideas of what might of happened?
  7. Hey guys, I'm wondering if my avr is capable of handling my heritage 5.1 home theater setup, or if I would be better off adding more power to my fronts. I have a Marantz sr8002 that is rated at 125 watts per channel at 8ohms- cornwall iiis for my fronts, heresy iiis for center and surrounds, and HSU Vtf-15h sub. I listen to my movies at relatively safe and lower volume levels compared to what they are most likely capable of, but I would like to crank it up a bit. I just need to make sure this isn't going to hurt anything. Would it be in my best interest to purchase separate amps to power my fronts? 200 watts or so? I just want to make sure that I'm not going to damage my speakers or equipment during intense moments and spikes in a movie where the demand for power increases greatly. I always read up on how efficient these klipsch speakers are and how little power they need to play at loud levels. But with home theater, is this still the case, or is having more headroom in order? I just want to make sure that I play it safe. Thanks guys.
  8. Yeah, everything was hooked up correctly- I'm paranoid about that sort of thing so I always triple check that before I play my music
  9. Oh yeah, Dennie, thanks a lot for the link, I really appreciate it.
  10. I'm thinking your second pair of Forte's have a round terminal cup, the plastic plate where you hook up the speaker wire. Chances are your first pair have a more square cup. Yeah, that's exactly how they are. I did the sock trick to the horns on each speaker, and the drivers seem to be ok. One of the tweeters seemed to be a little weaker, but I really couldn't tell for sure- It wasn't obvious enough and I eventually decided I was just hearing things.(I'm going to pay attention to that though just to be sure) Thanks for the advice on that one Bonzo, but does it damage the speakers at all plugging up the midrange horn like that while playing them? I still haven't looked at the crossover components, but I'll get to that tomorrow after work. The rubber surrounds on passive radiator also seem to be glued on tight, although i noticed some slight cracking spots, on the outer edge near the screws, that go all the way around on one of them- I think its ok though. Dennie, I'll check out the crossovers on that first pair of fortes as well. The guy I purchased them from never mentioned updating the crossovers, but you never know, he may have forgot to mention that. He was the sole owner of the pair. Larry C- The lack of bass and distant vocals that don't locate well suggest to me that they might be out of phase. Reverse one of the speaker leads and see what happens. I'm sorry Larry, I guess I'm not quite sure what you mean here. I'll definitely try it though. Anyway, thanks a lot for the advice guys, I'm still experimenting with them right now, and currently have them side by side doing an A-B comparison. I think I was a little harsh on the second pair of speakers. Really, they sound very similar to the first pair, and I won't have any problem giving them to my Dad. I must have been hearing things or something, because the bass match up the same on each pair, and they both have a great live presence. My ears must change on a daily basis, but it sure does help having them next to each other. They do sound slightly different, though, and I really can't explain it. The first pair just seems to do vocals a little bit better, and has a more polished sound. Either way, I guess its not a very big deal. I wouldn't have known any better if I didn't have the two pair to compare to each other. I prefer the first pair, and now I feel that the second pair is going to make a great gift for Dad. I may end up updating the crossovers on the first pair down the road, but for now, I can relax a bit and enjoy the music.
  11. Hi guys, I'm pretty new to all this, and I have a question about a 2nd pair of fortes I recently purchased. A couple of months ago, I purchased my first used pair of fortes and fell in love with them. Compared to my heresy iiis, they just seem to have more musical presence and slam, and it really sounds like a live musical performance in the room- especially with vocals. I decided to purchase a second pair as a Christmas gift for my dad. Well, I hooked this pair up- they didn't sound bad by any means, but I noticed that they lacked the magic and detail of the first pair. It just didn't have the same bass or vocal presence or slam for that matter. Vocals seemed to be coming further away, not in front of me if that makes sense. The drivers seem to be working fine and all, but I can't give these speakers to my Dad. I'll give him the good ones and possibly upgrade this other pair- which I have never done before. What needs to be done with these? Would upgrading the crossovers on this 2nd pair breathe new life into them, or do i need to replace the drivers as well? I'm kind of bummed that they didn't measure up to the first pair. They have the year 1985 on back while the first pair has 1986- not really sure if this matters or not but they seem to be older. The speaker terminals are a little bit different too. How much would all of this end up costing me? Thanks guys
