  1. For movies, do you run your subwoofer cold, flat, or hot? If you run cold or hot, please state how cold or how hot. I personally am running my subwoofer flat according to my digital RadioShack SPL meter. I am not sure if you are suppose to add 3 dB to the reading on the meter or not so I could be 3 dB hot or flat right now because the meter states 75 dB for the subwoofer on The 5.1 Audio Toolkit DVD when at reference level. However, I am thinking of boosting the subwoofer for movies by 4 dB for that extra kick.
  2. I've calibrated all my speakers flat, including the subwoofer. I remember watching Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones in a movie theater and the bass during the spaceship flyover scene that ends in an explosion at the beginning of the movie was very strong. If I watch that scene on my calibrated setup at full reference level, I don't get that kind of bass during that scene. I have to bump up the subwoofer about 3-6 dB higher to get that same feeling. This got me wondering if the movie theater had its bass hot or if reference level for movie theaters is different from that of home theaters.
  3. counsil on the AVS Forum told me this: Quote: The digital meter (C, slow) will read slightly higher than the analog(C, slow). 72/73dB on the analog meter is actually 75dB. 75dB on the digital meter is actually 75dB. I own both meters. Actually I purchased two analog and two digital to compare them all. Both of the analog meters were consistent in their readings. So were the digital. The analog doesn't read the same as the digital though. Reference is 115-117dB on the digital meter It's not that I don't trust him, I would like to get some discussion regarding this as I have the digital meter and want to calibrate my subwoofer as accurately as possible.

    Drag Me to Hell

Just watched it today. Movie wasn't bad, I enjoyed it. As for the sound, WOW! Probably the loudest movie I've seen yet. Can't wait to hear this at home.
  5. I am still experimenting and tweaking, but here are my initial impressions. http://seatonsound.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=3610097

    Disregard

    Why so serious?
  7. Review will be coming soon. Just need some time to play with it for a while.
  8. I forgot to take pics after unpacking it and had already placed it in its spot. It's too difficult to move around so I just took some pics with it in its spot. Enjoy!
  9. Look what just showed up! []
  10. My SubMersive has finally shipped! Expected to be delivered in 6 days. I CAN'T WAIT! [H]
  11. I don't know about the RF-3, but the larger Klipsch speakers such as the RF-7, RF-63, and RF-83 have a low ohm dip in the bass frequencies which renders most A/V receivers incapable of handling. This results in clipping and little bass.
  12. LOL. Professional reviews. I can't seem to find any. Have they all been removed/deleted?
  13. I can't seem to find any on the Internet. [*-)]

    103" PLASMA

Are there any advantages of getting such a large plasma over a projector?
  15. MrMcGoo, You stated that the tweeter in the RF-63 is smoother than the tweeter in the RF-7. I currently feel my RF-7s are a bit too sharp/bright with the higher frequencies. How big of a difference (if you can find a way to quantify it) is there between the tweeter in the newer RF-63 and RF-83 compared to the RF-7? Do things that sound bright/sharp/harsh on the RF-7 sound smooth and mellow on the RF-63 and RF-83?

    War Movies

While watching Black Hawk Downon DVD few days ago, I noticed there was a high-pitched helicopter turbine whine sound during shots that took place in or near helicopters. It sounded ear piercing (I was listening at 5 dB below reference). I just want to know if it was meant to be that way.
  17. I setup my home theater in 2004 and since then I have not made any changes to my setup or the room. When I first setup my home theater, I don't think I ever thought the sound was bright/harsh/edgy. Now, my speakers tend to sound bright and harsh at high volumes. What could be causing this? Could it be the speaker cables that are now 5 years old and aging or have I just become more sensitive to high frequencies?
  18. MrMcGoo, What are you powering your speakers with? Did you use the same amplifier for the RF-7s and now the RF-63s?
  19. Congrats! What are you powering the speakers with and what were your previous speakers (I can't tell the make from the pic)?
  20. With a 100 dB sensitivity and 80 watts, the RF-7 outputs 119 dB at 1 meter. If this is its max SPL capability then why are they rated at 250 watts continuous and 1,000 watt peak when they won't get any louder than they do with 80 watts?
  21. I noticed one more thing. On the Klipsch Web site, the P-27C is rated at 96 dB sensitivity with a max continous power handling of 250 watts. With this information, the max SPL at 1 meter should be around 120 dB. Why is the max SPL of the P-27C rated at 115 dB on the Web site?
  22. 115 dB? Are you deaf? [] j/k 100 dB is already very loud for me. By the way, when you stated 115 dB, was that at the listening position or at 1 meter distance? If it's at listening position, how far are you from the speakers?
