  1. If they mess with my ability to listen to free podcasts, I will boycott all Apple products forever. Not that Apple will notice my measly contributions though.

  2. Hey everyone,

i just sold off some speakers and am newly running just a stereo setup.

Everything sounded great but when I started messing with the Audyssey settings, I can’t duplicate the same results. I think I confused myself by adding an amp, new speakers and switching to stereo all at the same time..

I was wondering if you peeps would look at my Audyssey results and give me some adjustment advice?0e25cd2350160f7a99f5597a9a430a75.jpg

Do you really get the exact same quality video and audio by doing this?

I believe that it is possible but so haven’t had a chance to dig into it very deep. I was planning on visiting an upscale audio shop, that’s local to me, this weekend to pick their brains on the subject.

If there is any drop in audio or video quality, I will just insert the discs, like I have been doing all these years. I just really love the idea of having all my movies on a huge HD, with cover art and movie information at my fingertips.

  4. Thank you very much for the information! Looks like I have some research to do, when I get home tonight..

I knew I wasn’t the only one out there, looking to convert their physical media. Hopefully this thread can be referenced by others, who are looking to do the same.

I also want the exact same video and audio quality, otherwise I’d just continue to insert the discs. I am happy that you are uncompromising about this also!

@A1UC that ML centre channel must be awesome, I have a Theatre I and love it. Let us know what you think of it.

Agree! Klipsch needs to make a limited run, horizontally configured RF-7 III. Not that it would compete with that ML center A1UC just picked up but I am sure there are quite a few people out there that would benefit greatly, with such a speaker.

  6. I didn’t want to leave this thread hanging, so anyone out there might find this thread that is in the same boat as I was when I made this thread.

Posted this in another thread but here are my initial impressions of this amp:

Well, curiosity got the best of me. I started a thread asking opinions on Monster amplifiers, specifically the MPA 5151, but didn’t get any feedback. There was one local to me that popped up for $550, I offered $450 and they declined but accepted $500.

I read a bunch of reviews online and the only negative comments were from people saying that they hate Monster’s customer service and what seems to be price gouging and at $3,500, who can blame them, right?

The actual audio reviews were all very positive, some comparing them to amplifiers well up the food chain. I can tell you that this 80lb beast is every bit as good as the XPA Emotivas, B&K 200.7 S2 and Proceed HPA3 that I have owned in the past.

This amp really changed my entire system, for the better. I am supper happy I pulled the trigger this morning!

The blue lights? Can’t say I am a huge fan. Luckily, they can be dimmed and more importantly, turned off.

Well worth at least 2x what I paid. I will likely still buy a Monolith amp down the road, as they are also an intriguing product at very reasonable pricing.

  8. Hello, what are you folks using to record your blu ray discs onto a hard drive or into a “cloud”?

I am just now starting to consider recording all my discs onto some type of hard drive with cover art and movie information.

Have any of you gone through this process? If you have, I would love to hear from you.

I know 4k discs will take up a ton of room but with the affordability of modern hard drives, it seems within reach of the average home theater enthusiast.

    Thoughts?

Something like this would be ideal:

  9. I know these things aren’t discussed much and are absolutely insane at anywhere near the MSRP prices but I have a lead on a cheap Monster Signature MPA 5150 5-Channel amp.

The MSRP was $3,500, which again, seems crazy to me but at $500, it looks pretty appealing. At this price, I am sure I could easily get my money back out of it, as long as it’s fully functional.

Thought I would check with you fine folks, before I plop down the cash. Not a fan of the looks but on paper, it should drive my new (to me) Martin Logan speakers.

Any experience or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I am really enjoying Dolby Atmos with the ceiling speakers. This is a barn system, I enjoy it a lot in the winter with a fireplace I have out there. I am colored blind so I painted the speakers with colors that look like something other than gray to me

    Cheers,

    Rich

That looks like an awesome sounding system! The one thing I would be concerned with is the sound reflections, especially the ceiling. Have you considered any room treatment?

    Again, awesome system!

  11. I dusted off a few of the old pieces and picked up a few new ones. Turned out ok, little cluttered for my liking but I am saving up for a couple weapon replicas to replace some of the figures.

I’ll tell you, I have been having a blast tracking down pieces for my newish display cabinet. It’s almost as much fun as buying new speakers!

  12. The lighting in this room sucks but I picked up some new speakers!

Martin Logan Clarity and the center is a Martin Logan Matinee, which isn’t hooked up at the moment. I am going to put the Clarity’s through their paces for a few days first.

  13. I have owned about 7 Emotiva amps over the years and they are very good for the money.

Can’t believe this hasn’t been asked yet.. How large is the room?

In a small room, with everything crossed over around 80hz (dual 12” subs) I don’t think you would even notice a difference between amp vs. receiver, driving the speakers.

Been there and done that many times. I like the additional lights in my rack and the knowledge that the system is overbuilt, vs wondering if I am maximizing my $$$/performance ratio. But so am s but of a nut, when it comes to my HT gear.

That Denon is a stout unit and has more power than most home theater receivers, so unless you are watching action movies at extreme levels, it shouldn’t need an external amp.

Also so check out the Monolith line of amps. This is the direction I am going to go next, if I ever get a dedicated room.

I always think putting money towards quality subs it the most impactful change you can make in the system. My second change would be to bump your center up to the 450, if you have the room for it.

I don't understand what's so funny about CNN but in case you missed it, FoxNews seems to be reporting pretty much the same thing and no one is talking about arson.

Sorry, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC? Haha

I am not the type to jump conclusions so I also don’t believe this is arson or a terrorist attack either. Construction accidents happen all the time, especially in buildings that are perpetually under construction.
