  1. How is saying? “I don't disagree with your opinion on this. The F-3s are good speakers, and they can be had on a limited budget.” Saying that the f-3s are a waste of money? I’m confused[*-)]
  2. Jason he was giving his opinion just like the poster asked for. This is the 3rd forum I’ve seen where you have come in and responded in a way that tends to sound like you’re saying the response was somehow inappropriate. nothing he said was trying to talk him out of the synergy line he just gave his opinion that I and I’m sure others will agree with that matching his other reference speakers with front reference speakers makes total sense
  3. I agree with everything SuBXeRo said only thing I would say is if you’re going to upgrade your fronts I would get the rf-62 or the rf-82 the rf-52 are pretty small for floor standing speakers. It would be an upgrade but I think anything smaller than the rf-62 is almost a bookshelf speaker or mini floor standing speaker. But best thing to do is go hear for yourself (rf-52 rf-62 rf-82) and see what sounds closest to what your ultimately looking for (the movie sound you talked about) and get that speaker. you can get any of them for the cost close to the xpa-3. I’ve read on many forums and I agree 100% when buying front speakers buy the best you can afford and have space for. It will save you so much money down the road when you go to upgrade your other gear because you will have fronts that will keep up. Like if you get a better center down the road you will already be set (rc-62) if you get a new amp (xpa-3) you will be set and so on.
  4. I would order a new driver if it was me can’t cost that much I’m guessing less than 100 []
  5. Svs makes great subs and the pb-12 plus dsp is very nice, but for music I would recommend the Epik Empire (I have both) it’s a sealed sub with very tight bass, and a great value (800 vs 1350svs) I would say the svs is a tad better for ht cause it pushes more air at lower frequencies but overall for the money epik is a great value.
  6. Awesome glad you’re happy!! Can’t go wrong with pink Floyd and I agree its music made to hear on a good system. My favorite band and probably the biggest reason I got so into this hobby was like a mission to make it sound as big and powerful as possible. Brings up so many memory’s
  7. Basically you're comparing a middle of the road Reference system with a Velo sub to an upper Heritage line with Danley. Hardly a fair fight. You'd be surprised how well the Reference 7's compare to the larger Heritage models (especially with the same sub in both systems). EDIT, I guess I don't understand what you had after re-reading. An RF-62 system or a THX system? Very good point the rf-62 system isn’t going to be good for a big room at reference levels. But that room looks great if you’re happy with the sound I wouldn’t change anything unless you have a better spot for the khorns in a different room for a 2 channel set up. But For ht the rf-7 imo (new ones for sure) will outperform khorns. But I wouldn’t gut that set up if you don’t have other plans for the khorns.
  8. There are two different reviews in that mess but here is the 2nd one just in case http://www.chuckhawks.com/klipsch_RF-7-II.htm
  9. I’ve had the rf-7ii close to the back wall and about a foot away can’t really tell much difference. The new horn technology in the rf-7ii is taken from the Palladium Series. “Titanium tweeter with linear travel suspension—trickle-down technology from our flagship Palladium Series”. The high end is crystal clear with zero harshness the midrange is very clean large and real sounding (not artificial sounding like so many speakers are) the bass even with no sub will kick your chest! The sound from the new 7s is just amazing it’s the type of speaker where you can see yourself never buying another pair of main speakers. Here are a few small reviews to them. http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhttp://www.areadvd.de/hardware/2011/klipsch_reference_5_1.shtml%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1R2PRFA_enUS406%26prmd%3Divns&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=de&u=http://www.areadvd.de/hardware/2010/klipsch_rf7_2.shtml&usg=ALkJrhgDWCFLjatl8nsTKXcsv4fW2ajNbwhttp://www.chuckhawks.com/klipsch_RF-7-II.htm
  10. Looks awesome youth nicely done they look great on the outside if you ask me []
  11. Is that the ones they sent you? With the scratch on it? No, these are the original ones, They replaced those above with a different pair without any scratches (there was one scratch but it was on the bottom, almost underneath the speaker). You going to post some pics of the good ones?
  12. Sounds like me lol nothing wrong with it until u learn what you have been missing. I tuned the low frequency range and raised the gain a bit, this is helping pick some bass up at the lower freqs. i am keeping them pulled back from the wall, they were really just a few inches and they are toed in a lot more. They are sounding better. I did the same thing with the 5's when i first got em, just a matter of tuning it to my listening space. I have fully decided to keep them. I want this to be for my HT purposes mainly. If i want something a bit more dynamic maybe for music, i can always find some rf-5's in the future or try some other brands. For now it works great for all my purposes, gets the job done and will take some getting use to. This is my final decision haha. I will assume in a larger space they will breathe and they will truely come to life. Congrats on your choice[] I’m guessing you will love them more and more and i would toe them in but not too much. If your 10’ or closer to the 7s I would have them just slightly toed so the horns aren’t facing right on you. But I’m sure you will work it out.
  13. Is that the ones they sent you? With the scratch on it?
  14. You could get a buttkicker that would probably enhance your sound if you’re not using a sub
  15. Ok my bad I read your post wrong thought you were asking about rs-42 vs rs-52 i would go RS over the rf-42s the RS stuff is great I agree with Youthman even the rs-42 would be better than the rf-42 imo.
  16. I know we heard about the non-binding term sheet that was signed but it looks like it’s now pretty much a done deal Sounds like they’re going to let klipsch be s Standalone Company hope they mean what they say and don’t mess up a great thing and if anything gives klipsch a bigger budget. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=5&ved=0CDUQFjAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fnews.softpedia.com%2Fnews%2FAudiovox-Buys-Out-Klipsch-for-166-Million-US-dollars-182601.shtml&ei=DWjHTcimHcnZ0QGq2YWCCA&usg=AFQjCNEIA23WyALWr40rE62wLN86giM3wQ Ps. Sorry if this is old news for everyone the article is feb 2011
  17. I’ve owned all 3 rs-42 rs-52 and now rs-62ii I would recommend the rs-52. Great speakers keep up great with the 82s and sound amazing the 62s are the best but 52s are almost as good.
  18. Svs is amazing and would recommend it to anyone of the big 4 internet direct company’s they probably make the highest end sub top to bottom. Even there boxing they ship them in is color and not black and white (card board brown) like epik. Epik doesn’t even add a manual whereas svs has a manual and a cd. Now those things are pennies but you get my point. I had to replace my amp on my svs and when I opened up the box and looked inside wow in 25 years of taking speakers apart I’ve never seen anything like it. That speaker is amazing the port design is like a horn instrument and the driver is a monster. My first response was wow these guys aren’t f***n around. They are top of the mountain as far as internet direct goes so I only meant that usually at that point you may be spending a little extra for the name (and worth every penny)
  19. Placement with the empires is actually just as easy as any sub. (Maybe more) you can put them however you want. And being a sealed sub they are way less boomy then ported subs. my empire is tighter than my svs (2nd best svs next to the ultra) the svs does dig a little deeper. I won’t say it’s the best value sub but I will say it’s the best value I have had or heard. I haven’t heard the old amps but my svs has the 800 watt sledge and it sounds amazing
