  1. Got these about four years ago from a local CL ad.  I moved a few months ago and downsized to something smaller.  They sound great to me, I just don't have the right room any longer to appreciate their potential.

Please look at pics and ask any questions...one speaker has a very tiny ding on the top left corner, and the same speaker grill cover has a slight marking like something dripped on it, but it's not really noticeable at a distance and I didn't try to clean it, top of speaker is not stained.  Overall, they are both in great condition, consecutive serial numbers.

Pretty firm at $600.  I'm located in Sherman/Denison, TX area...hour or so North of DFW area.

    Thanks,

    Mark

  2. I got a converter box and fiddled with it a little while the other day. I was actually surprised how many channels tuned in, although most of them I won't care to watch on a regular basis. I still need to tweak the antenna placement and experiment some more, but this pretty much confirms I can cancel my cable service.

I picked up some other ideas throughout this thread, so thank all!

  3. I found this but don't know the publication date:

How old are your TVs?The key feature here is whether or not you TV has a built-in ATSC tuner. ATSC is the format the new digital signals are broadcast in. If you have a TV with this tuner, you DO NOT need a converter box, because your television is already prepared for the transition. Most TVs built within the last two or three years do have a built-in ATSC tuner. Check your owner’s manual if you’re unsure. All TVs purchased after March of 2007 are ready for digital and you DO NOT need a converter box for that TV.

The TV manual lists this as tuner info and does not mention ATSC anywhere. I bet since it was purchased in 2003 the tuner is analog.

    Channel coverage . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .181ch.VHF-Band . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2 ~ 13UHF-Band . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .14 ~ 69CATV Mid Band . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .A-5 ~ A-1. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .A-ISuper Band . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .J-WHyper Band . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .W+1 - W+28Ultra Band . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .W+29 - W+84

The towers appear to be 14-22 miles from my location. Maybe I should just go ahead and get a converter, because as you said, I don't get jack.... right now.

  4. I tried the scan in both cable and antenna modes, same result, I can faintly get a channel 6. After thinking about this and looking around, could it be my TV only has an analog tuner? It was purchased in March 2003. I'm thinking I might need a digital converter box that people had to buy back in maybe 2009 when stations switched to digital transmission.

    Thanks

  5. One of the neatest gadgets I have bought in the last 10 years !

I agree, been playing with mine for a week now. Still alot for me to figure out with ripping CD's, no experience with that yet.

An excellent application of this Squeezebox is to connect to a pair of XF-48's.....

I'll check that out..........connecting the XF-48's to the Squeezebox.......should be cool, and a stand alone system in another room.

  6. I’m about to dump my cable TV service since I hardly EVER watch TV, plus the rates are going up again. The TV, Hitachi Ultravision 51UWX20B doesn’t go to 1080p, and defaults to 1080i through the Time Warner supplied HD converter box. I can sometimes select 720p, but the resolution is not that important for occasional viewing. The TV is about 8 years old, so I ‘guess’ it has a tuner, not sure, and I can’t readily find the manual. So any recommendations or experience on an in house HD antennae? It must be something I can place indoors…….I’m not willing to run something outside, and probably wouldn’t mess with something in the attic. Thanks
