  1. Yeah the 7.1 is impressive for games.

But for movies its only ok so far.

I haven't really heard a movie that has impressed me like on the games so far.

There is a gun scene in the book of Eli that is pretty good.

Hopefully it becomes more common place with movies.

  2. I have a logitech harmony remote. It seems every other time I pick it up the display says "remote assistant .....If any devices are still on press help now ......turn off assistant ....exit". Then I have to hit a button and then hit watch tv again every time. Cant find my manual anyone know whats going on? and the screen flickers sometimes.

  3. I have been very happy with my setup in my sig.

If you are not opposed to used you can get some really good deals on the Reference II line of speakers.

Check Craigslist or a local online classifieds.

There are some web sites like newegg.com that have great deals on new stuff.

I ended up getting my subs from them for $300 each.

If you are going to do more movies than music then the RF 82 II's with lots of subs works great.

Or if music is more important then the RF-7 II

  4. I'd like to add this -- this was the dullest, almost the weirdest, Olympics opening I can remember.

I bet you are not a fan of Monty Python?

I rather enjoyed it myself and found it interesting. Best when Meredith was not talking (or what ever her name is?). And what happened to her for the middle part?

It is also very nice to check out the hotties from all over the world.

  5. You would think they could do a little better with the audio?

The host voices where way to loud and the background way to soft.

Normaly I listen to tv at 35 on my volume and movies at about 25.

Just to hear the general sound I had to turn up to 20 and turn the center way down. And to get some LFE had to crank up to 10 for the music parts to sound decent. And then the commercials where way to loud.

Oh yeah they said 5.1 sound? Kind of reminded me of the old pro logic 4.0 forced simulated surround. In a word crap.

    Anyway just felt like complaining.

  6. Garmin, Garmin, Garmin, Garmin, Garmin.

I have had several Garmins and I love them.

Garmin is by far the best in my opinion.

I recently got a new Toyota Tacoma and got the built in Navi made by JBL.

The JBL uses GPS software that is based off the Tom-Tom.

    I absolutely hate it.

The Garmin software is so easy to use compared to the other brand.

And I say this as someone who uses one at least 5 times a day.

It saves me a lot of gas driving around in circles looking for peoples houses.

You can get some good deals on amazon.

  7. Even with Netflix + Hulu, there is a ton of money to be saved if you can do away with cable. It's definitely what I plan on doing. I got the old Verizon unlimited data plan as well, so it's even nicer being able to turn my phone into a mobile hotspot, I can do away with the cable company entirely. Not exactly sure what I am going to do when Football season starts though, I can't miss my beloved Michigan Wolverines.

Seems I heard verizon is getting rid of that old plan?

  8. Reminds me of my tree in the back yard

It is a Ginko tree. It is a living fossil.

It is said they only sell male trees but after 40 years I guess it was tired of that and switched sides.

Now it is a female and makes these lovely little berries about the size of a ping pong ball.

In the fall when they fall and you step on them It reminds me of a drunk mouse that puked and then died in a used baby diaper.

So don't get a Ginko tree.
