  1. Jeff, the coaxial and optical connections on the DAC are digital. The usb type C port will connect to either a usb C on your computer/laptop.

If you are running MS Windows, in your sound settings you will choose the DAC as an output.

Your usb on the laptop must provide the power. Not all do.

  2. I have three different audio interfaces I can use on with my computers/laptops. They are for recording on my computer, so they each have an adc and dac. I keep moving up the chain. The first is a 2 Channel, that now serves on my PC. I bought a Presonus 4 in/out at a used book/record/cd/odd electronics store. I took a  chance, but it works great. I have a setup where I can record a stereo track/video on my phone, using good microphones while simultaneously recording 4 separate tracks to my laptop for later adjustments/mix down.

The third is an 8 input interface, bought new. They all work fine, and I often use any of the three simply as a dac. I don't do anything over 96k, and usually do 88.2. Don't overthink it.

Just curious as to how they might sound and/or measure.

Hey Claude... soon, soon.  After picking those up, I got the Dayton woofers. Josh recalculated the throats for those and they actually look to be a little big for those woofers. The throat opening also gets out to the surround area. JWC said just throw them in and listen.

Anyway, Josh cut some inserts to make the size more correct and to make the expansion better. Pics of what he cut for me attached.

Then I went through 38 radiation treatments. While I'm now testing ok, the androgen blocker has messed with the hormones and I'm pretty beat at the end of the day. I've gotten some other 'had to do' projects mostly caught up. I started getting the Snails finished up.

They will be staying here. 😉

  4. The first Klipsch I heard was at a coworkers house. We were working in a TV news department in Memphis, TN, and had a light schedule one afternoon, so we stopped by his house where he had a pair of decorator khorns. I don't remember what he played. They sounded great!

That was in the mid '70s. By the early '80s we moved to Madison, WI. I borrowed a pair of speakers for use while I ran sound for a small conference. They weren't Klipsch, but had home made LaScala bass cabs whit a big horn mid and tweeter on top. They made for a great sounding p.a. They were built by the late Dennis Kleitsch, aka djk on many audio forums, here included.

Fast forward to the 90s and my older son and I were looking up how to build some LS clones. That's how we found this place in 2001. Same older son goes off to school in Florida and comes home with a pair of Heresy IIs. He sets them up in the  living room, moving the cables over from my JBL 4311s and powers them up. They were a gift to me. (I still have the 4311s, btw).

Still have them, and just finished a crossover refresh. I've since had two different pair of 1st gen LS, some of the pro line and other horns.

I will keep the HIIs. There's other stuff around the house, though.

    And... wow, that was long.

These prototypes are using standard AL5 cabinets.  That bottom hole is just for the wire from the bass bin to come through to go to the crossover, which is in the top cabinet on the AL5.  The terminal cup on top of the bass bin is right below that hole.  The round hole in the back is there because with the old, really long K-401 horn, the midrange driver does not fit within the top hat.  The driver sticks into that hole.  I imagine that the rear hole will be eliminated in the new version.

Thanks Michael! I didn't think Roy would be channeling Dennis... at least not so overtly.

    I would´t spent a single cent for her 🤣

I can't believe that figure of 43 billion.

The artist typically gets 85% of the concert gross. For the Tokyo shows alone she would get approx. $4 million.

Her ticket prices started out at a few hundred each, but groups bought large lots of tickets to resell. The average has been over $1600 each. They were initially released at around $500 each, but bought by 3rd party ticket sellers and the prices shot up.

  7. Went to a concert at a church I used to attend. My retired, primary care doctor wrote songs using the psalms as the basis for each song. Had a seven piece acoustic group. All great musicians and song writers themselves, All, except my doc have toured with different artists or written for some. The offering went to support a puppet ministry, that started at that church and still travels around the world.

Afterwards I talked with Jason Armstrong, who I have not seen for probably 20+ years. He builds electrics for his company American Exotic Guitars.

He has some nice Tele models made from sassafras that are beautiful.
