  1. Interested, but I'd need to wait until after the holidays and i'd need it shipped to Nor-Cal. I'll check back to see if you still have it then. Should be great for my Forte's.
  2. Not sure if they'd fit, but I saw a set for klf-10's on eBay tonight.
  3. I got an email alert today on a pair of 20's in Kansas. I still have alerts set-up from when I was searching for a pair a couple years ago. Killer price IMO at $315 local pick-up. The owner still has the original boxes and packing. http://www.ebay.com/itm/A-Pair-Klipsch-KLF20-Floor-Speakers-Local-Pick-Up-Only-/121266442587?ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:3160
  4. I had the same problem. I wound up going to the drug store and getting 1 or 2 rubber cane tips and drilling them out. Wrorks great and you can hardly tell the difference. Just put the cane tip on one of the rear corners, you will likely be the only one that ever knows.
  5. Well I tried to talk the wife into it. She asked "Where would you put them?" I told her " Well, the girls don't really need bunkbeds in there bedroom." At least she laughed hard before she said "No!"
  6. To many crazy thngs happen with some Craigslist transactions. That is why whenever I go on a CL buy, I bring along a pocket dog.
  7. Ssshhh, we can't let all the cats out of the bag.
  8. Agreed. I wasn't terribly worried about lost floor space, for now they would have gone into my office. I don't have a lot of stuff in there; just my desk, my Forte's and a small table for the amp. My safe and other gear is tucked away in the closet. I could have pulled it off in here placing a small sub under the table I have the amp on. For a 10x10 room though the Forte's are plenty loud, I just track something up and spin around 180 in my desk chair and grin. [H] Funny that you mention KHorns though... I was browsing those a few hours ago. Yep, I've got the sickness. I tell the wife that at least I'm not blowing my money at a bar or stip club. That is a good tip though, it'd help you envision the footprint of the cabinet. Thanks.
  9. One thing I've learned when it come to looking for specific speakers, paitence does pay off in the long run. 25th ID huh? I was over on K-bay with 3rd FSSG ages ago.
  10. Well, I checked back before I headed up to Auburn today, and the seller told me that the first person that showed up took them. I'm a bit mixed about it, on the one hand I would love a pair of La Scalas; yet I don't think given what I was told here that in the space I have I would be able to do them justice. Oh well, it wasn't meant to be I suppose. Someday though I shall have some La Scalas or better.
  11. True, I have been meaning to upgrade to TI, but I have to stop buying other speakers in the mean time to afford that. I know it's not that expensive to go to the TI untill I factor in how many I would need to do everything I have. Thanks for the input everyone.
  12. Thanks, I'll go check them out tomorrow. Like I said, the guy has 3 pairs he's getting rid of. He told me he had them for a HT system, but decided to go with in wall speakers. Yep, I love the old album art, like so many things they just don't make 'em like that anymore.
  13. Really about the only places I don't have a setup is in our front room which either my office or main HT setup easily covers. Their is the Master bedroom, and I've tried for that; it's a no-go with the WAF. Though presently we have a cheapo in the box HT Sony setup in their, so I may be able to press the issue a bit more.
  14. I have KLF 20's, C-7, RS-3 II and a RW-12d in my living room for my HT setup. I run the Forte's in my office in a 2 channel setup. Realistically, I need more speakers like I need a hole in the head. When the wife saw them she knew what they were and that it was a decent price. Eventually we will be moving somewhere else with more room and I'll be able to put this gear to better use with the space. Presently floor layouts prevent us from getting the most out of everything. I have an appointment set up with the seller to audition them tomorrow. I'll let everyone know what pans out. Is their a less invasive way I can take a peak at the woofer to ensure it is original other than opening the cabinet up? Such as an automotive flexible mirror. I don't want the guy to get spooked if I ask to open them up.
  15. Yes, the size of them for the room dimensions is another concern I have. I'm not certain thy would have enough room to breathe in here. Initially when I first got into Klipsch speakers the wife though I was nuts for spending the amount I was. Then she heard it all put together and was wowed. Now she browses CL for deals far more than I do. Lol. I'm assuming those are the ones that were re-finished, and he hasn't posted or forwarded photos of the other 2 pairs he has. The ones pictured are likely gone, he told me he had someone else coming up from Sacramento last night to audition some.
  16. Thanks for the quick response. That is one thing I really like about the Forte I don't need a sub at all, so no I probably wouldn't add a sub for this application. I can't even count the number of things I've shook off the walls and broken in the office. I run the Forte off an older Denon amp at 90wpc (if I rember the WPC correctly) hooked up through my PC. I thought the price was a tad high myself, I've seen them go for a couple hundred less in the area. They are only about 45 minutes awayso it wouldn't hurt to load up the family and take a little road trip. To be honest I wasn't even looking for any new speakers, the wife found them on craigslist Friday night and already gave me the greenlight on them, the caveat being I'd have to get rid of the Forte's. I tried to talk her into letting me stack, but that didn't go over. Here is a link showing the only photo, I did request others to show the overall condition but the seller never sent them. http://sacramento.craigslist.org/ele/3603855689.html
  17. I've never heard a pair of La Scala's, but I do own a pair of Forte II's and KLF's. With that said, I have a chance to buy a pair of La Scala's locally, the gentleman selling them is asking $1000 for the pair. He says he has 3 pairs available, one has been updated (which I assume he means re-capped) and another pair has been re-finished, though he was uncertain if the re-finished pair was the pair that had been upgraded. That should be easy enough for me to determine if I go check them out. If I bought these I would have to get rid of my Forte II's, though I'm not certain switching would be the best choice. I would be able to offset the purchase price by nearly half so essentially the Scalla's would only cost me $500 out of pocket. So the funds isn't a huge matter. I'm mainly wondering if acoustically this would be a wise move on my part. They would be going in a small room (my home office) the dimensions are roughly 10x10 which the Forte's more than fill. I know these x V.S. y questoins are fairly subjective to the listeners ear, but any input I could get comparing the two would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  18. Caveat Emptor. Bought from Jmodified in the past, items arrived broke and very poorly packed; even after I recomended a way to properly pack the items. Promised to make good on it and never did....... Not sure if buyer beware is a strong enough warning. Caveat emptor
  19. The mids were the only things ever disconnected. I mirrored the connection over to the other side of the driver and I have sound. Dang nephew is down for his nap right now so I can't crank them up yet. This weeks feel dumb moment has been brought to you all by yours truly. Thanks a ton Moray, et al.
  20. On the back up set I have one is testing at 11.6 the other tests at 11.7. The ones currently in the speakers test at 11.5 and the other tests at 11.3. However, I now think I see what the issue was. And you called it Moray it's something stupid. When I reconnected the leads to the mids; because I had no idea where they went other than the yellow lead to the terminal with the yellow slash on it, and the black to the the other. I had them both connected to the same side. One to the yellow, and the black to the one right next to it rather than running the black to the opposite side of the driver. Now when I go hook this up I'm assuming on each side the connection with the yellow hash on it is going to mirror to the other side, so I'd connect the ground to the opposite terminal on the other side?
  21. After looking into this further I see that getting replacement K-52 driver diaphragms from BEC would be not only cheaper, but also from a known good source. Besides I'd rather give my money to a forum member than elsewhere. I'm still not 100% certain the problem doen't lie with my crossovers though and It would truly be a bummer to buy new drivers from BEC and then have my crossover blow them. Requiring me to buy more yet more drivers and both crossovers. I know how well the KLF 20's will sound once I get things right.. it's just getting there. Lol.
  22. Well, I just tested all 4 of the mid drivers I have on a known good setup that I have in the garage and I'm not getting any response from any of them. So I guess my next step is to order some new K-52 drivers from simply speakers and hope that resolves things. If not then I'll move on to new crossovers. Either that or I'll load them up and take the 20's down to a local vintage audio shop and see what they can come up with. I'm guessing at this point that the impacts that the drivers took in shipping is what has toasted them. Thanks for the responses guys.
  23. I thought I had read somewhere here about not doing that? Something about if it wasn't blown before it would be after, perhaps that was just with a 9 volt. I'm assuming it may potentialy be safer to hook it up to some other speaker wire coming from my stereo in the garage since I have that option as well. If they are blown it looks like simply speakers has replacements. http://www.simplyspeakers.com/klipsch-replacement-speaker-diaphragm-127120.html I've got four different k52 drivers for these 20's the ones that came with them, and the ones I bought from Jmodified, so far none of them seem to be doing anything. Thanks by the way for your help on this.
