  1. Hello everyone… I have been looking into the RF7 II’s for the mains in my HT. At the present time I have a set of KG 5.5’s as I do love them but I’m curious as if anyone as an opinion on the subject?? I bought the KG’s for a good price of $200 and then added the Bob Crites upgrades which include the Ti- tweeters & cross over’s. I noticed as I changed the items the speakers did not have the proper bracing and such as I plan on modifying them to my liking. Before I go thru the expense & labor of modifying them I’m curious to rather or not it’s worth it? Such as…. If I were to modify the KG’s I have and compare them to the RF7 II’s would it be just a slight difference or more like a night & day difference?? If its just a slight improvement then I would rather save $2k as I can live with that, but if it’s a total noght & day ordeal then its worth it. Any thoughts??
  2. Thank you very much for the information! Sorry it took so long to respond back . I will give this "little" adventure a try here in July... cant wait
  3. Hello "JustTayler", thank you for the information!! I plan on doing the same thing to my KG 5.5's this year as I was curious to know if there would be any improvement... looks like there will be ( good news ) !! I upgraded my KG's with Bob Crites new cross overs & Ti tweers as I noticed an improment but not "day & night" as some have reported but never the less I believe it was worth it. When I replaced the cross overs & tweeters I was amazed to see that there was no internal bracing & just small amount of foam as otherwise it was one big empty box. If you dont mind me asking.... do you have any photos to share?? If not thats ok too, I would just like to see how you braced them and what you used. I could figure it out I believe but I have never done anything of the such for speakers so I am just looking for advise. Once again thanks for sharing the info. !
  4. I just noticed at a few places I can get the RF7II's at or under 2K but I think they are "B" stock... but never the less they would fit the bill. I also agree each has thier differnace in opinion as each has there own taste/style. I was just curious to see if any RF7II owners upgraded from the KG series as to what they thought as if they noticed a huge improvement is all. I just would hate to drop 2k or more to realise there would be only a little improvement is all as I sure most could relate to that .
  5. Without a doudt I couldnt agree with you more as I only wish I had a chance to listen to them in town here but of course no such luck . I may have to take a trip this summer to MNPLS which is 5hrs away...oh well .
  6. Thank you for the reply Youthman! I have somewaht thought about the orig. 7's but I was told the RF7II's were total redefined is all. It would save me quite a bit of $$$ thou .
  7. KG 5.5's vs RF 7II's ?? Hello everyone, I wasnt sure where to post this so I thought I would start in the RF 7II's section as thats what I have been trying to deceide. I am curious to see if anyone has upgraded from the KG 5.5's to the RF 7II's and noticed a HUGE differnace is all? I can only assume thier would be some advatage but for $3k had to say?? "In a nut shell" heres my situation . I bought a pair of KG5.5's last year for $200 and then upgraded the tweeters & X-overs using Bob Crites kits. I love the KG's as they sound great to me, its just in the back of my mind for some reason I think the RF 7II's would be even twice the performance I have, in the back of my mind that is . No one around my area carries the RF 7II's so I dont have a chance to listen for myself. I still have to do a little work to the KG's as I noticed there was no bracing and just some slight foam so I plan on redoing that this summer, I'm not sure how much that will help out persay but it cant hurt. I did notice a slight differance in sound (more with the midrange thou) when I installed the Bob Crites upgrade but nothing like some have posted to where it was almost night & day, never the less I believe it was well worth the $300 as it sounds great to me. I use them more for HT than music, about 75% to 25% I say. I do however likethat the KG's are front ported to where the RF's are rear but thats not a big deal. Anyhow, sorry for the post as I am just trying to deceide on a future purchace is all to rather or not its worth the extra cash to upgrade. Thanks! Jeff
  8. Thanks for the responce . $700 is tempting but as you mentioned the referance lince may be a better way to go. My main purpose is HT as I listen to 2ch music only about 10% or so. THe KG's I have do quite well for my set up now so I have no complaints. I have herd the RF 7's ( not ll"s ) as they had a fantastic sound, at least for HT as I did not have a chance to listen to them for music. Once again... thanks!
  9. THanks Mark for the Reply! He shot me a price of $700 for the pair so I guess thats not out of line from what you have listed. I guess the other question is if I were to spend $700 on a pair then modify it with Bob Crites items I would be looking at around the $1100 mark... so the question would be to get those or save a few dollars up and get the Klipsch RF7 II's as I hear they are a fantastic speaker as well.
  10. Hello guys, I thought I would ask on the fourm to see what a fair price for the Klipsch KLF30's would be? Theres a gentelman in town that has a set for sale but wants to sell his HK AVR & such with the package. He said he would split the package and sell the KLF 30 seperate but wanted me to shoot him a price. They seems to be in good shape but I may have to refinish the cab's as they are not black. I have a pair of KG 5.5's with Bob Crites mods & Ti tweeters so I'm not sure if the KLF's would be that much of an upgrade... but being a 3way wouldnt hurt. Any Idea of what I should shhot him for a price? And would it be just a slight upgrade or a vast differnace? Thanks for the Help! Jeff
  11. I have not tried the Klipsch WA-2 but I do have the OAW3 Wireless hooked to my Outlaw EX as it was fantastic... for me anyhow. The only downside to it is it lowers the Db's by 3. When I tested it with my SPL meter it would run 3 Db lower than when hooked up with cable, not a big deal thou as I made up for it on the gain and AV. For information: Link www.outlawaudio.com/products/OAW3.html I can only assume the WA-2 works just as good from what I have read.
  12. Hello T.B.C, I hope all is well?? I have not had a chance to listen to the Herseys but I do believe the price on them sounds like a fantastic deal! I have a pair of KG 5.5's as I do like them quite well... of corse I have the Bob Crites mods as that helped out a little bit with the mids and such. At $475 they are a little over priced unless they have been modified then not to bad. I bought mine used for $225 as its seems thats about around the price tag... stock that is. Around $200 to $350 seems to be the going rate anyhow. I use them mainly for HT so I have two subs to match with the KG's but for music they arnt to bad as well... I still use the subs thou. The KG's do have pretty good bass if you are using them as a 2 ch set up all by themselfs, its just I prefer a little more bass is all.
  13. I did email Klipsch yesterday as I do believe it take a few days for them to respond so no big deal. Its just a "personl" prefernace is all .... kinda like a "custom" rebuild . I will have to post back to see what Klipsch tells me. THanks guys and have a great day!! Jeff
  14. Thank you very much for the welcome & feedback! Its not that the drivers/woofers are that bad really, it's mainly "thinking" that I should replace the drivers in the near future is all since they are 15/16 yr old... and I do like the gold drivers of the RF7's as well . I do however plan to play around with the cabinets in the spring/summer as to what you have mentioned thou. I also would expect that I wont be able to get the drivers from Klipch as you mentioned but I thought it would be a shot to ask thou . Once again, thanks for the feedback and take care!! Jeff
