  1. Left my sub on by mistake the other night and a thunderstorm came through. Woke up in the morning to flashing clocks and a dead RW-10 sub. Thought the sub was plugged into my UPS/Surge Protector but found out it was on house power. Found that the fuse was blown so I replaced it. Soon as I power it on, the fuse blows. All I have to find the short is a DVM and no schematics. Is there a certain part that gets fired in a case like this in most cases. Don't have the funds right now (kids in school) to take it in and have it fixed. Going to be bummed if I have to do without my sub. Need some help from some Klipsch techie's.
  2. 1) If you have to drive you amp in your smaller sub to 75% to get the same output as a larger sub at 40%, the smaller sub will be more susceptible to noise, etc. The harder you have to drive an amp, the more noise, etc. which leads to a "muddy" sound. 2) Most AVR receivers have settings for speaker sizes. Set to "large" and the full spectrum of sound will be set to the speakers, independent of the low frequency cross-over. 3) I have never heard that but I would not do it.
  3. Spend the day re-arranging my living room so I can install direct-radiating speakers so I can get the best sound from my DVD-A/SACD media. The "better-half" did not even know why I was doing it. The directs still have to be small per "my instructions". Looking at the spec sheets, the RSX-5 and the RB-15 look to have the same specs and are in the "allowable" size. Which do y'all suggest? I will be listening to both but I know the layout of my hifi store and the two speakers (RSX-5 and RB-15) are not in the same room so I will not be able to do a "side-by-side" comparison.
  4. First heard Klipsch speakers (pair of La Scala's) in 1974 (age 16) at a friend's house. I have been a Klipsch owner since 1980.
  5. I have auditioned both the Denon and Yamaha at the local shop hooked up to Klipsch References series speakers and I prefered the Denon.
  6. Thanks for the input guys. I have heard so much conflicting views on this. Some say that you need to have the same speakers all the way around. Some say that they at least need to be direct-radiating all the way around. And others say that the surrounds sound good also. Bookshelves (RB-5, RB-35, etc.) are too large. Don't have any availble floor space and very little wall space. If I want to go with the "direct", would the RSX-5 or RB-10 match okay. I know that it is not ideal. I don't have the ideal floor layout. If I still had room I would still have my Cornwall's.
  7. I need suggestions on surrounds for 5.1. I have a Denon 3803, Denon 2200, Klipsch RB-5 II's, RC-35, RW12, and other misc. audio equipment. I listen to 80% music/20% HT. I have read that you should get direct (monopole) speakers to get the best sound from the DVD-A/SACD hi res media. The surrounds have to be small due to limited wall wall/floor space. Thanks for any input on this.
  8. 1. What Heritage speakers have you owned, currently own, or want to own? I currently own Cornwall's and RB5-II's. If I had the room I would prefer to own La Scala's and Klipschorn's. 2. What was your age when you first purchased a Heritage series loudspeaker? 23 3. What is your current age? 45 4. Why did you choose Heritage loudspeakers over another Klipsch model? I chose the Cornwall's after listening to the majority of the Heritage line. This was due to the available cash at the time and size. 5. If you currently own some Heritage loudspeakers, and could purchase some more Klipsch speakers(new or used), which ones would you purchase? Why? I would probably purchase either La Scala's or Klipschorn. They have most true, clean sound available. 6. Do you think the upcoming Jubilee should become part of the "Heritage" line, since it was also designed by PWK? Yes
  9. I forgot that the Heresy's were still available. They would be a good fit and are about as big as I can go. Have you heard the RB5's?
  10. Chorus and Forte are similar to the size of the Cornwall. I need to get down the a smaller bookshelf size speaker. I want to get as close to the sound of the larger Klipsch lines that I can in a smaller footprint.
  11. What smaller Klipsch speakers could I use in place of Cornwall's. I have a space limitation and need smaller speakers. I know that my new ones will be Klipsch but am looking for suggestions for replacements.
  12. I have a pair that I purchased new in 1981. Was wondering what they are worth? Unfortunately, because of space I need to sell this wonderful sounding monsters. I had an ad placed last year and only had one person come and look at them. He offered me $200 for the pair. I laughed. They are in good condition. They both have a stain on the grilles but the wood is in good condition and I have not had one single problem since I have bought them.
