  1. I would be all over this if I didn't already have some.  Head to Head with my LaScala's , they make the LaScala's sound like a clock radio  :o

  2. I should have thought about this longer before I replied the first time. IIRC the Matrix / Stereo will only affect analog sound and any digital connection will pass through whatever raw data is available. The Matrix in analog would be psuedo stereo.

As soon as I saw Sancho Panza's post . It jogged my memory .

That's not for the faint of heart. The guys make it look easy. IT IS NOT!

It is cool. I am an industrial technician by trade and have not taken an automobile to a mechanic in 20 years. Having said that, I have never replaced a convertible top. On the other hand, building a subwoofer would probably be more of a challenge. I can program a PLC (industrial computer) wire up ANY industrial machine, weld.... mig, tig or stick, braze and solder. I know hydraulics, pneumatics, chains and sproclets etc.etc. However, I cant cut a 2X4 in a straight line with a skillsaw. My skill with wood is sooo poor, it is almost embarrassing, given I work with my hands and tools for a livng. I am good with a sawzall and jigsaw because we use it to cut "other" materials in the industrial world, but I need to get my wood skills up, or we need more steel subwoofer designs out there and a sharp decline in sheet metal prices. > :P~

I feel your pain . I was a maintenance mechanic in my younger days and could do almost anything with metal .

Decide to build a mailbox out of wood one day, and what a disaster ! It was truly embarrassing

  4. Lol, not wish to start the war here, you're going to disagree to RC-64 II, which you've not heard :D

Not saying which is a better center speaker . I just believe the KLF-C7 is a better match for KLF-10's

I could be wrong and it won't be the first or last time  :D

Strictly speaking for HT, it's all about center channel from where you're going to hear dialogues and base via sub-woofer

I agree, as a matter of fact I agree so strongly I have an MCM for a center  and I have a Danley DTS-10 in my truck waiting for a friend to help me bring it in  :D

I firmly believe matching L,C,R is the best option when possible !  I also believe timbre matching is very important across the front 3 so althought I haven't heard the RC64II I still think (and again I could be wrong) the KLF-C7 is better for him and that a subwoofer and reciever or amp/PrePro are better places to spend his money.

Definitely Not a War just a cival discussion with differing opinions  :)

Holy Crap you have some nice gear !

  5. Upgrade Priority:

#1 Amplifier (AVR) - see if you can get one with latest and greatest technology and 0.05% THD

#2 Center Channel - HT is 50% Center Channel (e.g. RC-64 II), 25% bass via Subwoofer or Big Speakers for mains, rest % for R,L,RL,RR (if possible add FWL, FWR, SRR, SRL)

    Good Luck and Enjoy !!

I'm going to disagree , I haven't heard the RC-64II but I have heard the KLF-C7 which is a very good center and I'm pretty sure the best center for KLF-10's short of another KLF-10 :D

  6. If it were me, I would consider upgrading your Receiver and your Subs.  The KLF-10's are fantastic speakers and the fact that you are running 4 of them is sweet!  Others will chime with their suggestions.

    Completely Agree

  7. Yes...... ;)   Although, it's really difficult to give Michael a check, he wants 3 forms of ID, a verified phone number, takes your license plate number off the vehicle you're driving....geez...And who knows how many security cameras he's got scattered around?  So, I just take cash.

He only takes cash from me and he even marks the big bills to make sure they are legit  :)

  8. IMHO yes there is, plus the added benefits when it comes to not dealing with APPLE and Itunes

I will not pontificate on SQ differences except to say I am MUCH happier with J-River  :D

     I agree with Joe !

There are many features that come in handy as well. It can be used as a crossover, an equalizer, room correction , and so much more .

  9. Seriously thinking about building an amp.    But Justin's (ampandsound) Stereo 15 is tempting too.

I heard one of Justins Amps at the Chicago get together. It belonged to Jimjimbo and it was so good Jim had to sneak out so that I couldn't "borrow" it.

I couldn't have cared less about tube amps until I heard that one !

  10. Hello, do you hear combo RF7ii+RC64II? these is better than KL 650 (LCR)? thanks.

My opinion and my opinion only is  the KL650's are better for movies and TV. The RF7's are better for music. You would have to weigh which is more important to you and also factor in placement options, looks , etc.etc

I must add that neither the KL650's or RF7's  are bad at the other but each has its strong points

  11. eh skip the thx and go straight for cinema Derrick!

The THX do a lot of things very well and certainly are worth a listen ! For the real estate they take up , the flexibility they offer, and for WAF they are hard to beat !

I'm sure the 904's are great ! ( I have not heard them ) but they are not a practical solution for many . I'm guessing they will smoke a KL650 but then again I'm guessing there are some other Klipsch speakers that will smoke a 904. The best speaker won't always be the biggest but with Klipsch it usually is.

That being said the bigger speaker isn't always the best choice . Too many factors involved . My best system is a Pro System but that same system is not the best choice for other rooms.
