  1. 30WPC... is it enough for anything?
not sure how much my 110WPC rated pioneer pushing out , but I never turn the volume knob over 45 (100 is the maximum) and at just over 70 it's getting uncomfortably loud to stay in the room.
if I would go all the to a 100 do I have a chance to "clip" my speakers? front and center 150W rated (600 peak), but surrounds only 100W (400 peak).

If you listen to your AVR at 100, you will blow your speakers. The amp will clip under that situation. Clipping is distortion. Distortion in a speaker creates heat. Heat destroys speakers. You will need to get a more powerful AVR or, best choice, go separates.

  2. More Congrats sent your way. I just had my 4th Grandchild, a boy , great feeling for sure.

Congrats, cviper! What a bundle of joy they are. Up until the smell gets into the diaper!!! [+o(]

And congrats, Fish. I, too, welcomed my 3rd grandbaby to the party last week.

Raise them well. Klipsch is good, Bose is bad. [Y]

  3. It's been a few days since I've had the opportunity to check my Email, and wow....I never expected this much feedback on this forum! I have gotten so much information, and inquiries as to my asking price. I will be honest, I came here to get expert information and advice before listing these online to sell, as I don't want to post false information. I make it clear now, I do not even yet have these in my possession, they are still set up in my sister's condo several miles from here. I'm only doing my homework ahead of time for when she moves and they end up in my house, at which point it will be easier to do things like taking off the grills, and confirming what type of wood this is. Someone mentioned maple, and that was my first guess, but after reading the original price list, I noticed that was not an option. Blond (white) mahogany seems to be the best theory here. I'm no wood expert but I'm a fan of interesting wood.

If I may tell the unrelated story of my grandparents' dining room table, which was custom made using a solid piece of timber that had sat at the bottom of a logging river for over a century. We still don't know what kind of wood it is, but we know that much about it, and that the year of the cut and the logging company was still stamped at the end of the log.

I will be taking the easy way on selling these, and placing them on auction at some point in the near future. I will let bidders decide what they are worth. I may also sell off the entire entertainment center they are hooked up to, which is an Empire turntable (not sure of model # yet) a Marantz Model 19 receiver,

and a BSR EQ-110x equalizer. I would like to thank everyone on here though, by offering cash back to the buyer who mentions being a member of this site, for being so helpful. I'm doing pick-up or delivery only, as I do not trust any freight company with these. If you should make a bid and win these, do not forget to let me know and you will get your discount. How much I do not know yet but please trust me, I'm a fair guy.

    A trolling turd!

    LMFAO!!! [:@]

  4. I bought a pair of heresy 1's a year or so ago for the house im moving into with my friends. I have a pair of cornwall 1's. After replacing the caps on both and refinishing them as best I could they both sound and look better. However, I still could not get over the lack of bass response of the heresy compared to the cornwall. So I started looking into the forte 1 and 2. On a few older threads on other forums people recommended the original forte over the 2, so i was looking to get a set of originals. But then here you guys seem to like the 2's better. Anyway, Ive been looking on craigslist and ebay for the last few weeks. All the forte 1's are $$$, but I was able to find a decent looking pair for $300 local pick up off ebay after negotiating with the seller down from $400.

What do you think? Good deal, bad deal? I already paid for it, so it doesn't matter really, just curious what you forte users think.

My next issue will be if the house mates are cool with them being a foot or so away from the wall. It does have a footprint about the same as the heresy, but when you factor in the fact that they need to be away from the wall, the footprint isnt so small anymore. We shall see. I could always try to sell them if it doesn't work out.

Sweet looking pair! Nice find. My Dad lives in that zip code. That's where I was born.

You got a deal deal on those. ebay sellers can be a bit cranky with the price.

More like 18" away from the wall. However, you do have to keep them aesthetically pleasing for the Fung Shui of the room.

I do have my right front Chorus II right up against the wall.

  5. ^^^SVS Customer Service is the Bomb! They just started the 45-day in home trial period. You don't like the SVS speaker/sub, they will pay for return shipping.

Ed Mullen, the Director of Technology and Customer Relations, is an active member on AVS and answers the tough questions.

Aren't those cylinders a trip to look at???
