  1. Mark, I will be more than happy to TEST anything that YOU or any other Forum member would like to send. I checked and "Those Little HP Horns" do not appear to be available for purchase, at the present time. Purchasing the TAD's and K 402's, alone was pretty substantial, so at this point, I am NOT going to purchase anything else to test, but feel free to send me a PM or email and I will be more than glad to supply MY shipping address. We will TEST whatever comes here in search of the TRVTH.......as someone else phrases it.....[] W. C.
  2. Fortson is near Columbus (Ft. Benning)....a bit far for me but hopefully this will save someone from having to look it up.....
  3. Dennis, I am very familiar with Bill Woods' Horns and yes, he is VERY proud of them. To that end, this thread is purely about the comparison of the K 402 and different drivers to the Martinelli's with the Beyma CP 750ND, which is personally the finest sounding Horn that I have ever heard. As soon as I receive the Martin Adapters, we will start the testing. While I am sure that there are many capable Horns out there, for a two way set up, this thread is just about two and I do not plan to introduce or compare any more Horns, at this time.
  4. Dennis, Are you suggesting that the EV HP 640 is a better Horn, than the K 402, for two way, on top of Jubilees? I am not certain as to what I can personally hear between 16K and 20K Hz. I doubt that there is much there, for these OLD ears, as I have abused them terribly, in my younger days at the Drag Strip. Standing between two Fuel Dragsters on the Starting Line for twelve years, with just a set of David Clark Headphones on, definately had it's affects. W. C.
  5. Baba, I'm sure that he will have them on eBay in several weeks. Just do an alert to yourself for TAD's and they will show up. There's a pair of 4001's listed now.
  6. Cops and Firemen both live for the Adrenilin rush they get from these types of situations. When they are in a group, it is much worse and "many" times they go way over the line of equal treatment of any suspect. I have several acquaintences that are in Law Enforcement and the "RUSH" is a High for them. Can make for some very dangerous situations. Mike: I am glad that your son is OK ,as I am sure that he had the hell scared out of him, for absolutely NO reason. You would think, if they were that close to him, that they could tell the difference between a "Bottle" and a gun.
  7. Mike, In audio, I don't particularily think there is an absolute right and wrong...Sure there are basic guidlines, but I don't think that any one thing is definate. It all relates to what is right for the Individual and His/Her Ears. Gather as much knowledge as you can and try your best to make Informed decisions...How can you go wrong with that?
  8. Mike and Everyone, Thanks for all of the information. I will take very close pictures of the Martin adapters when they arrive. Hopefully this will help the next person out, that acquires the TAD drivers without the adapters for two inch. My friend out in Burbank has received a few more sets of the TADS and he is going to see if there might be some adapters with the new (as in new to him, not actually new) inventory he received. They are sorting through the stuff this weekend. W. C.
  9. It's funny how prices run. They were 32.00 a pair, direct from Martin.
  10. Thanks for the PDF. You can order direct from Martin Sound and they should be on the way here, on Monday. It appears that this adapter uses the seven degree throat.
  11. Claude, It looks like the only way I am going to get the TAD adapters, is to have them made, unless YOU have a set laying around somewhere, not in use.[]
  12. I can attest to the Scenery at the Rio....Great place to stay. The staff dress...well Uh...rather 'Skimpely" and your wife may not appreciate it....but there are some of the most beautiful staffers there, that are on or off the strip....The Rio is Off Strip but the view is awesome from the rooms.....Try it, you may like it....It also has a continuious show that travels a monorail in the ceiling...The only drawback is, when the cars pass, it gets very noisey from the cheering...!
  13. I'm not understanding about the 90 degree and it's relation to the 1/4 inch plate. I thought everyone said this adapter did not work. It would seen that the sharp angle going from 1.5 to 2 inches, in a 1/4 inch space, would not be anywhere near the taper of the K 402. I've read in several different locations about a seven degree taper for the throat of the adapter, For 1.5 to 2 inch would make the adapter two inches in length. The TAD 4002's are 1.5 inch not 1.4 inch drivers, so I don't think the 1.4 inch adapters will work either. I have been searching for several hours and have not really found too much about the 1.5 to 2 inch adapters. Again, this is a complete learning process for me........ The quest continues....... W. C.
  14. Mike, Thanks for the drawing, as it will allow me to have them made. Will take this to the machine shop tomorrow and I am sure that it will be a couple of weeks before they can start on them, I will continue looking for the adapters already made. I think I have searched about every available source and I will try to see if I can find a dealer tomorrow. I really appreciate your posting the diagram. Thanks, W. C.
  15. Mark and Mike, I am presuming that you guys are talking about the adapter that is about three inches long? If this is what I need, it would sure be nice to find a source. I have the PDF of the adapter you show, that is made out of a half inch piece of aluminum and I have heard the same ....it is NOT the proper adapter to use on the 402. If I could even get a drawing of the proper adapter, I could have them machined. We will continue looking and hopefully I will find some somewhere. Thanks for all of the GREAT input. There is no sense in even testing them until I can get the proper adapters. W. C.
  16. Claude, I haven't taken the horns off of the 4002's yet but I am pretty sure that I WILL need an adapter. I will either have to buy them or have them machined. This is going to be a very stupid question: Suppose I re-drill the K 402 flange and bolt the 4002 directly to it. Will not having an adapter to make up the 1/2", make that much difference? I do have a drawing that I can get a 1/2" thick adapter made and there is a machine shop a block from me. Hope that question made sense, as I almost coRnfused myself........[] Of course, it would be wonderful, if someone had some adapters just lying around.....Yea....right...!!!!!!!! Why is it that everytime you try to do something....You need to get more STUFF....? W. C.
  17. Mike, It is probably hard to tell from the picture, but the Driver and Horn came packed in the Box below the combo, in the picture. These boxes were then placed in the crate and individually packed and braced. Sometimes the Camera does not do justice, to the subject at hand. Everything in the crate, along with the Studer, was individually wrapped in Bubble Foil, individually braced and (for lack of a better term) Super-Taped. There was NO way that anything in the Wooden Crate Could have/Would have shifted, in transit. It was one of the better packing jobs that I have ever seen. While I did not show all of the individual picvtures, the internal sides of the box were braced and screwed individually. Short of dropping from the fourth floor, to the concrete sidewalk below, the crate and it's contents wold have surviived. W. C.
  18. Richard, The TAD's have the Standard four bolt pattern, that will bolt up directly to the K 402's. W. C.
  19. How True........ The Stones have a Caravan of Tractor trailers with the entire set up. As for House Sound, I am sure that Klipsch is in there somewhere. Check out some of the stuff that Meyer Sound does, as they carry a pretty complete Resume.........On LARGE Systems
  20. Hell, Forgot to mention the most important part of the shipment from the Left Coast...The TADS....!
  21. Speakermiester, It is a completely RAW Birch Panel. It was ordered this way, so that a finished veneered face panel could be added with grills or it can be finished to YOUR liking. W. C.
  22. It is a Studer A807 Console machine and I have been looking for YEARS and have never found one that I cold afford.....Talk about Excited...! I can only hope that a few of you can share this with me, as I am totally beside myself. It was completely gone through last week and I am anxious to run a few tapes through it. I We will post the driver installation pictures tomorrow and go through mounting the K 402 on top of the Jube Cabinet....But for TODAY, it has been Awesom...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. The Burbank delivery included a complete pallet of MSM and MSSM along with another pallet with miscalleaneous items that were thrown in, like, M3 and 4 Crossovers, Drivers, MTTM's and the TADS........
  24. As you can see, while we were unpacking the "Care" package from Burbank, Estes showed up with the Jubilee Base Bin....The timing was hectic to say the least......
