  1. Ok, do I have a booger hanging or bad breathe or something!?
  2. Ok folks, prices have been dropped. The price for both the Amp and Pre-Amp is now $400 plus actual shipping and packing material charges! I will now state with confidence that you will not find a better performing combination at this price outside of a gold strike at a yard sale! Someone please jump on this offer, I need this gear gone!
  3. I would agree with Bill. For me, this receiver replaced a mid-range Onkyo, and the difference was dramatic. When the Onkyo was cranked up, the highs could be very harsh and sharp. You could only withstand so much, then you had to turn it down or stop listening all together. With this NAD receiver, I can listen for hours without any fatigue. Once more, the NAD was rated lower than the Onkyo as far as power goes, but the NAD was definitely stronger and a heck of a lot cleaner.
  4. Hey, just got back from vacation and the Acurus gear is still for sale. I've gotten some interest on the local Craig's list, but nothing solid at this point. I'm surprised that I haven't gotten any interest here!
  5. Again, speaking from my limited experience, I can't imagine you wouldn't be impressed with the performance vs. value combo from this set up. Give them a shot!
  6. Selling some non-Klipsch stuff as my local Craigslist hasn't really turned up an leads. I have for sale 2 Martin Logan Motion 4 bookshelf speakers and a Motion 8 center channel. These have the ribbon tweeters in them and sound fantastic for movies and music. They are very low profile and thus are a nice small footprint surround front stage. The Super Cube is the 2000 model. This thing has very impressive sound for its size and extremely small footprint. Anyone out there needing a great performance with a high WAF rating, this is the setup you are looking for! We are moving to a sound bar set up for now (no room for a receiver in the current setup), so this stuff needs to go! I bought all this gear new from Best Buy in December and all original boxes will be included in the sale. Looking for: Motion 4's: $350 Motion 8: $300 Super Cube: $400 I am in the Tampa area if you want to meet up within an hour of here (except by boat...), or I will ship for actual cost. Please let me know if you have any questions!
  7. Thanks Bill! I know I'm biased and trying to sell something, but I really don't see how anyone can beat the value of this setup. It pushed my Quartets with plenty of room to spare. The volume goes to 70 and I rarely had it above 50, and I like to listen to rock nice and loud!
  8. Quartets sold to golfman! Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  9. I can speak for the quality and sound of this amp. Good price too. Those of you that might have been on the fence about the Anthem PVA-5 I just sold, this 3-channel Acurus will run neck and neck with it. Jason, Good luck with your sale. Bill Thank you good sir!
  10. I talked to the seller at about 6pm yesterday and he said someone is supposed to pick them up today. He got my name and number and said he would call if the transaction today fell through. I'm not expecting a call, but you never know! Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  11. I'm #1 in line if the current deal doesn't go through. Not holding out much hope though. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  12. I have a fully functional one I can part with. I will shoot you a PM.
  13. From my old car audio days, you definately lose a lot when you hook up an amp to a head unit with no rca pre outs. I would agree with the salesman's statement. I remember very clearly that the rating (I think it was measured in volts) of the pre outs themselves made a huge difference. When you don't have pre outs at all, you will not get as good a sound. I think it is similar to hooking an Ipod up to a home audio system using a headphone out to L/R rca analog cable. I know its not apples to apples, but the same general principal. Never used the product he suggested, so I can't opine there. If you are serious about adding an amp, you really need a head unit with high output rca pre outs. Is MB Quartz still around? I used to love there component systems back in the day. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  14. I used a KG 2.2v between two KG 5.2's and it sounded great. My in-laws have one between two K.G 3.2's, which also sounds great. Seems like something is holding it back (likely the floor placement). Just my humble $.02. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  15. Couldn't agree more Moray. I know I had read on several seperate occassions that the mid diaphragm upgrade isn't as noticable as the tweeter, which conditioned my expectations for what I was going to hear once they were installed. I'm not sure what those other posters were using and all the particulars of their own setups, but I was astounded by the difference in the mids. Oh well, guess you can't believe everything you read on the innerweb! Or maybe more accurately, you can't assume the experiences of others will mirror your own. Thanks for the input everybody!
  16. Ok, just wanted to bring everything up to date. I ordered the K-18 woofers through the local repair center. They are direct drop in replacements for the stock k-10-k, though they do have 8 screw holes vs. 4 on the original. I also went ahead and ordered the Crites Mid Diaphragms with extra titanium (sorry, couldn't help myself! ). Both items came in on the same day, but had to wait a day to install them. I've had about a week to listen and figured I would share my thoughts. Please bear in mind, I am still pretty new at all this, so if I say somthing ignorant, it's not just because I'm ignorant; I'm new and ignorant... K-18's: These sound really good. The only way I can really describe it is "more". I don't know if they more efficient or what, but you get and feel more bass with these woofers. I would say they are slightly boomier(?), but for my applications (mostly rock), this is actually a bit of an improvement to me. Before, you would hear the kick drum strike, but it wouldn't resonate very much. Now, the same drum note has more prescence and feels more substantial without blurring to much and sounding like a cheap car subwoofer. I don't feel like the range is digging any deeper, but there is a noticable change in the sound that has been all positive so far. Very happy with the purchase. It's hard to tell completely if the old damaged woofer (prior to being obviously noticable) was impacting the speaker's performance, but I still get the sense that the K-18's perform better than the stock K-10-K's. They ran me about $90 per speaker, and didn't have to pay shipping to the local service center hear in Tampa. Overall, very happy I got these. Crites Midrange Diaphragms: These sound really good. I would go so far as to say I noticed a bigger change from these than I did the Titanium tweeter diaphragms. I know that is a pretty bold statement, but I really could hear a big difference. I guess I had been conditioned to believe that you had to change materials to get a big change in sound, but that is clear not the case. Ok, to describe it... I would say it took the "edge" off of the effected range. Quieter isn't exactly right, but it is easier on the ears and you are able to turn the overall volume up without fatigue on the ears. It seems to create a better "blend" with the tweeter and woofer. Vocals are still very clear, and I don't want to give the impression that the sound is compressed or muffled, as that would be a gross mistatement. Overall, very happy I got these. Sorry if I butchered that completely. I just wanted to share my experience as best I could should anyone else be interested in these particular products. For the record, my Quartets already had the Crites TI Diaphragms and full Crites crossovers (not rebuilt stock). I also just switched to seperates for power and signal and these speakers sound incredible! Note, I don't have much experience as a basis for comparison, but I am very happy with them!
  17. This is from his site. New replacement midrange diaphragms for the following: Klipsch Heresy II, Cornwall II, Quartet, Forte, Forte II, Chorus, Chorus II, and KLF Series speakers including the following specific Klipsch midrange (squawker) drivers: K-53-K, K-52-K, K-52H, K-57-K, K-58-K, K-59-K, K-61-K, and K-62-K. This is a high quality replacement diaphragm developed for us. It tests very good in comparison to an original Klipsch diaphragm and better in a couple of ways. It, has slightly smoother frequency response, it extends a bit higher and it rolls off smoother without a bounce back at higher frequencies. Price is $70.00 per pair plus $7.00 for shipping. IN STOCK, NEW SHIPMENT ARRIVED TODAY 8/12/2013 I'm curious to see if anyone has installed them and noticed a big difference. Nothing wrong with mine at the moment, and I am content to leave them alone as long as I'm not leaving a ton of performance on the table.
  18. So, turns out Speaker Exchange is a certified Klipsch repair center! I called them up and the recone was going to be $80 per speaker. For $16 more, they would order replacements from the factory. Aparently the K-18 is a direct drop in replacement for the K-10. I actually called Klipsch after to see if the price would be better from them direct. The price would have been almost exactly the same. Funny enough, the guy I talked to at Klipsch actually asked me if I had heard of Speaker Exchange (this is when I found out they are a certified repair center) and suggested I call them. To support my local business, I went ahead and ordered new woofers from Speaker Exchange. So, woofer problem solved! Ok, any feedback on this new batch of mid-range diaphragms from Crites? Anybody?
