Seems you guys with projectors have a bigger issue than us with TVs.

All I know is if it blacks out during Game of Thrones tomorrow night, I might lose my $hit.

Fuzz next time write to Erich he might be able to accomodate you on the  front baffles.

I checked with him before ordering, but he had just received a batch from his CNC guy and they all had roundovers.

You sure you didnt turn a side wrong???

I'm sure, I tried them all ways.  The edges stand out just enough to catch a fingernail.  Not a problem unless you're trying to veneer.

The kit is still way way better than I could do on my own.

Hmmm....I was hoping Active might be the cure.

Me too.  I tested mine before installing inside the wall and it seemed to work fine, but it will randomly cut out once or twice over the course of a movie.  Screen blacks out for 5 seconds or so...usually during the good parts of the movie.

Front baffles are oversized for finishing....but i have had similar experiences.  Orbital sander fixes it ☺

All the pieces are just a little off, not just the baffle.  I end up making my own baffle anyway to have one with square corners for veneering.

I sure wish DIYSG would sell kits without the roundover.  It is way easier to remove wood than it is to add it back.

It was a neighborhood survey to see what we thought  about their job performance and community interaction.

That's what they want you to think.  They probably wrote a contact report about your interaction.

  6. I'm happy to report that the AC Infinity S8 is working just like I hoped.  My AVR is now much cooler after watching a movie.

The unit has four fan speeds.  The lowest two speeds are very quiet.  The highest speed results in some fan noise, but it is not intrusive.

I have it it running in auto mode which regulates the fan speed automatically based on the temperature.  In this mode, it never went above the lowest fan speed and my AVR became warm but not hot like it used to.

Build quality is also excellent.  The case is well finished and sturdy.  The buttons also feel solid and have positive indents.  The unit came well packaged and with free shipping through Amazon.

My only minor gripe is the styling which would look great on a Marantz, but doesn't quite match my Denon.

Sorry for all the subjective language in my review, but I didn't take any temperature or spl measurements.  This thing just works like it should at a very reasonable cost.

  7. Turns out that my cheap Sony bluray player will not support bitstream output which means that I cant pass the Dolby Atmos soundtrack to my receiver.  Does anyone know of current bluray players which can output bitstream?

I'm hoping that i dont need to spring for an OPPO since i'm just using an HDMI connection and am not convinced that there is any difference in signal quality from one player to another (let me know if i'm wrong on this).

    How's the DS4 working out?

It's filling in the bottom octave nicely and blends well with my smaller Emotiva sub.  I think I need to start running my sub amp in bridge mode though since I've seen the red clipping light start flashing in good demo scenes.
