Don't uphold PWK's theory on what is correct for speaker placement as though it were biblical. I am sure he was of the same mind as the majority on this site in that he didn't want to intrude on the living space of the room. And at the time, almost all speakers were used against a wall. It was unheard of to put them several feet into the room. Time marches on and we realize now that for better tonal balance and imaging (if fhat's your thing, it isn't for everyone), wall boundaries do more harm than good. It's ok if you want to put your speakers in the corner or up against the wall, it really is O K. But you know (and I know you do) that you aren't getting all the performance out of them (K-horns excluded from this for obvious reasons) that you could.

If you want better imaging, move them out into the room as far as you can. Don't buy into this corner placement BS, they need to be away from room boundaries then they can sound 3 dimensional and open. Imaging is great with them in this position.

If it's just for home theater, how good does it have to be? Really?
If it's for music, neither would be my choice.

Congratulations! You now now why so many audiophiles have gone to tube amps! They are without equal imo.....
Maynard
Couldn't have said it better!

So whats your point? That don't mean it can't sound better with an eq. In fact i would bet that your system could be tweaked with an EQ to improve its sound and measurements.EQ is a band aid for people too lazy to put together a system that gets it right on it's own. It can be done.
Come on Shakey, that is a little presumptuous don't you think?
But you are correct with "it can be done". A good source, with good amplification, driving good speakers, in a good room, will get it right.
Do what you like. Less electronics in the chain, the better. But that's just me. This is coming from a two channel, tube lovin, vinyl clinging fanatic. I know I am in the minority on this forum.

Bill
Exactly, it can be done.

If dino stomps and car crashes are your thing, eq til your heart is content. If music reproduction is your bag, not so much.

I started with a B&K pre for my 2ch. But it has no EQ so i got a emotiva umc-1. I like my B&K amp over the emo amp But the umc has a nice EQ and sounds a lot better than the B&K. The best part it cost me around 250 used on ebay. I was shocked how good it sounds. Really impressive.Great, thanks Bill. I've been looking to maybe get a different pre for my 2 channel rig, and something that also has a remote =P

Thanks, it's truly a money pit.

Why even consider stereo receivers if music is important. You could do much better with a good integrated or separates later on. Receivers are for the Best Buy crowd, be better than that.

Oops, I just reread the OP and see they are the horn monos.

Nice looking rig. I have the mid monos and love em. Which quickie amps are those?

Those are beautiful. Good luck with sale.

A few years ago I bought a Monster Cable line conditoner off Ebay. It arrived in a VCR box with ZERO packing material. No bubble wrap, no popcorn, no foam, no newspaper. Nothing, nada. And there wasn't a mark on it. I couldn't believe it. It was just thrown in a box and then taped up.

Thanks for the link, and nice setup.

I have previouly said I am not even sure if I need it. I just like amps.
We all like amps. But Adcom just should not be mixed with Klipsch.

If you'd had a chance to hear that thing, you might be glad it will end up being a shipping claim and NOT in your system

Receivers really have no useful place in audio if music is your thing.

Welcome. I am relatively a newbie here myself. This a good place to hang out.

for sure, separating the channels is a great idea for critical listening... but at lower levels of (for lack of a better word) financial commitment, I think the gains are marginal at best
At this point, I am not so much advocating the idea of a monoblock amplifier as I am getting rid of an A/V receiver.

If you are talking about using the monoblocks vs. a Denon AVR, absolutely.

I bet the Manley/Lascala combination would be great. I heard a pair of Lascalas with Deja Vu 300B monoblocks and the sound was glorious.
