  1. I found these two sites useful. Regards Darryl www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/s...hlight=Kef www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/n...adid=10488
  2. I think Denon have amodel that can play PAL in progressive mode. Darryl
  3. Hi Ive been told by a JBL factory engineer that he always recommends and sets up surround and back speakers out of phase with the rest of the system. He claims this provides a better surround experience. Has anybody ever heard of this concept or tried it? Thanks for the advice. Regards Darryl
  4. Thanks for the encouraging comments Dave. I very much appreciate them. 20 years ago, I had a tri-amplified Mark Levinson setup with stacked Quad Electrostatics (I'm really showing my age) and Decca ribbon tweeters, Linn-Sondek turntable, Nakamichi 1000 etc. I had a fiend come around with some opera LPs. We listened and I discovered I was listening to the sound and he was listening to the music! A defining moment for me and something Ive tried to guard against ever since. I'm very, very keen on HT and TV but I try to watch and be absorbed by the A/V experience not the isolated audio or visual qualities (I'm usually but not always successful). Regards Darryl
  5. I have two HD digital tuners and use one to watch TV (front projection system) and the second to record other TV programs at the same time. Darryl
  6. Thanks for the positive comments guys and for looking at the PDF. The upgrade I'm considering is now is swapping the Sony projector for the new DLP Sharp. Regards Darryl
  7. Ive just completed my system and its great. I use it only for HT but at least 3 hours per day. Regards Darryl
  8. Actually on the right but you can't see it as the small table conceals it. Ive also installed external solid metal electric shutters over the two skylights and glass sliding pool doors all controlled by the Crestron for viewing in the daylight. Regards Darryl
  9. Hopefully this PDF with my RF-7s etc works? Darryl
  10. Attached (maybe?) a PDF file showing my HT setup with RF-7s, Rc-7 and RS-3s. Darryl
  11. I'm certainly upgrading mine as I like the idea of the variable sub crossover frequencies, onscreen volume level display and DPL 11. Darryl
  12. Looks good on paper but first let's hear what it sounds like? Darryl
  13. 1. Black 2. Grills on. Darryl
  14. I suggest you either search or post a question on the following Denon forum: http://pub7.ezboard.com/faussiedvdandhtforumdenonavr5700informationforum and http://pub7.ezboard.com/faussiedvdandhtforumdenonavr5800informationforum Regards Darryl
  15. Try this site too. http://www.docdvd.com/exdvds.shtml Darryl
  16. The attached URL is also an interesting list of what's available. Regards Darryl http://www.docdvd.com/exdvds.shtml
  17. I tried the movie SE7EN in DTS ES Discrete in all speaker configurations i.e. varying large and small for fronts and centre, and the dialogue definitely is clearer and sharper with the speakers set to small. My Denon 5800 has the sub preout line level connection crossover fixed and set at 80 Hz (there's an upgrade coming which will allow this to be varied). Ive got the Velodyne crossover switched out of the system. Thanks for the suggestions. Regards Darryl
  18. Try this site for DTS info: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/bwescombe/dts_dvd.htm Rgards Darryl
  19. Even with the big Velodyne sub Phil? Regards Darryl
  20. I've not worked it out yet but, the costs of shipping it from here to you will be prohibitive. Also be aware Australian prices are preposterously high in comparison with USA prices. As an example the RRP on a pair of RF-7 is US$3000 and I was able to get them for the equivalent of US$2,700! Klipsch dont have wide distribution in this country. Regards Darryl
  21. yes I am but I'm in Sydney Australia! Regards Darryl
  22. Thanks Jim What Ive done already is to boost the surrounds' and backs' levels to compensate for the difference in output What I'm now thinking of doing too is to set the amplifier to treat the RS-3s as large speakers and hopefully lower frequencies and more bass (I'm using a Velodyne HGS 15 sub). What's your opinion please? Regards Darryl
  23. Thanks for the comments and help. I've set the fronts to large and the centre surrounds and backs to small and the system sounds pretty good (Denon 5800). I only use the setup for HT (never for music) and I dont listen to sound for the sake of sound or for gimmickry. I watch movies etc and appreciate having great sound with the correct balances and cinema effects hence I'm a great follower of the THX recommendations. I'm amazed when I hear of people buying and watching junk horror DVDs just because they're recorded in a new or novel sound format. Regards Darryl
  24. Surely somebody has an opinion as to whether Im going to have a total mismatch with RF-7s and a RC-7 used in conjunction with RS-3s for the surrounds and backs? I've noticed somebody in the forum using RS-5s for surrounds with 7s upfront. Darryl
  25. Why are you guys complaining. Here in Sydney Australia a pair of RF-7s sell for US$3000! Maybe one can get a 10% discount but I've certainly never been able to get service from a discounter here. Regards Darryl
