I can say without reservation that my 20-39PC+ is the best investment i have ever made in HT. The thing is just awesome. It goes deep. Really deep. I experience bass i never knew existed. The Haunting DTS-ES and LOTR:FOTR extended edition DTS-ES have some downright scary low bass. I would recommend an SVS to anyone. They are best value in subs(short of DIY)today. Dalton
  2. Steve, The sound in HT is excellent. Having the same 3 EXACT speakers across the front i experience extremely smooth panning. With good bass management, they are very musical also. Although i have run them full range in DVD-A and SACD and they perform very well. Two channel SACD is an issue because you can't use the sub for low end(not that i know of anyway). This setup simply excels at HT and multi channel music. Two channel cd playback is also very good with a decent sub(my SVS 20-39 PC+ fits the bill nicely). I really have no regrets. I could have purchased the RF7's but as good as they match the RC7, they aren't an exact match(which is important in HT). Being 90% movies i decided the triple RC7's was the way to go. I would like to have them all around eventually. Dalton
  3. LOL James. HT is exactly the reason i went with this setup.

  5. Moon, The RC7 has the same exact horns as the RF7's. I leave all my speakers set to small and crossed at 80 or 100 hz so it would be a waste to have the big woofs of the RF7's. If you like listening to 2 ch. with only your mains and no sub then the RF7's are still the way to go. If you use your sub(s) for 2 ch listening then there really is no need for the RF7's(IMO anyway). The RC7's are rated down to 45hz so you still get some good extention out of them. The mids are excellent in the RC7's IMO also. Bill, I think of the RC7's as monitor speakers now(which they are for me). I paid about $525 each and would do it all over again if i had to make the choice again. I was very close to getting RF5's when i got the RC7's. One thing to note is that if anyone decides to use the RC7's as mains you have to rotate your horns one quarter of a turn so that when they are standing up(like in my picture) the horn sits like it would if you were using it as a center channel. If anyone is interested you can email me for more info. I got a buddy of mine to do the same setup and he loves it. Dalton
  6. Moon, James said exactly what i was gonna reply. I don't need the big woofs of the RF7's because i have an SVS sub which handles the lowend superbly. I wanted 3 of the same exact speakers across the front for the perfect match and the 3 RC7's exceeded my expectations. I had to turn the horns 25 degrees so they would still sit their normal way(approved by Klipsch). Very happy with the results. The RC7's make excellent monitors.
  7. Hi Mark, I've got the low end covered with my SVS 20-39 PC+. It is an awesome sub. This setup sounds superb. Dalton
  8. All RC7 front 3. Sounds phenominal for HT and music. Check it out!
  9. marksdad, I already have a SVS 20-39 PC+ that i use for everything including music. I didn't see a reason to spend the money on the RF7's if i was gonna cross them over at 80-100 hz. I AM VERY PLEASED with the RC7's as mains. They are a good improvement on the RF3II's i had. I want to thank Dean for giving me a nudge in that direction(RC7's) and for all his help/suggestions. Dalton
  10. Ok now i gotta jump in here and say SVS without a doubt gives you the best bang for the buck. Period. Nothing in the price range even comes close. I had dual 25-31's and now i have a 20-39PC+ and have NO REGRETS. It delivers in spades. It is awesome on movies AND music. .
  11. Dean, You are reading my mind! I was tossing that idea around to my friend yesterday! He thought i was nuts! How did they sound for music? Are the horns in the RC7(same as RF7 of course) better than the RF5's horns? They would be a perfect match up front. THX recommends the front 3 to be exactly the same. I think i might just do this! It will actually be marginally less expensive for me. Also, they should be able to handle the punishing volume levels i sometimes play. Ideas, comments? Thanks for getting my wheels spinning Dean! Dalton
  12. Thanks Dean, I was under the impression the only difference was the drivers. Nonetheless, I look forward to the arrival of the 5's on tuesday. The RC7 overpowers my rf3II's.
  13. I think if you already have a good sub, the RF5's would be a good upgrade. They have the same horn and crossover as the RF7's and RC7 Center speaker. They have the dual 8" woofs like the rf3's. I went with the FR5's from the RF3's and felt it was worth for the more natural sounding vocals and high frequencies. I didn't see myself needing the 10" woofers in the 7's with my SVS 20-39 PC+. Also the RF5's come in maple, cherry, or black. I got the cherry to match the good deal i got on an open box RC7. Love em.
  14. Kain, I noticed that you have an RMB 1095. Is there any reason why you wouldn't consider the Rotel 1066 processor? It would most likely sound better than either receiver. I have had a slew of receiver's over the past year and the 1066 stomps on all of them. Musically it is a big step up too IMO.
  15. Danbry, I just got the 1066 yesterday. I can't check the firmware because the front panel display will not come on. I had to set everything up in the onscreen menu. I called my dealer and he is gonna swap it out for me early next week. Also, I just upgraded my speakers tonight. I went from the RC3II to the RC7(WOW what a difference)and RF3II's to RF5's. I was able to take advantage of a trade in deal to upgrade. Out of pocket expense was pretty reasonable. I brought the RC7 home tonight but the RF5's won't be in until tuesday. In regards to receivers vs. processors, I have had the following receivers in my system over the past year: Marantz SR 7200 - Very musical, not as great on HT(I'm about 80%HT). Denon 3802 - Good on HT, not very musical. Onkyo 797 - Very good on HT, music was decent. Pioneer Elite VSX 45tx - weak amp section, very good processing(external amp recommended)and the Auto MCACC calibration feature is excellent. I have used all of the above with and without external amps and none comes close to matching the processing and sound quality of the Rotel 1066. The detail and soundstage easily surpass any of the above receivers. The phrase "it really opened up the sounstage" now makes sense to me. I have heard over and over that a dedicated pre/pro is better than a receiver and now i believe.
