  1. Q-Man is right about the technique. Just be very careful. Old laminates become extremely brittle and break easily. The edges can be razor-sharp. I would use contact adhesive solvent or acetone, although lacquer thinner will also work.
  2. Those are lovely. And definitely mahogany. Looks like a red mahogany stain was used also.
  3. Thanks, Fini. I appreciate your help! And ricktate, I believe you are thinking of Marlite (the bathroom stuff). As I recall, Marlite is quite flexible. The markerboard might work fine though. Thanks.
  4. To add a bit to this thread, I wonder if someone could post a picture of the back of the removable grilles. I have a pair of 1975 CWs and I'm planning on replacing the cane grille cloth. I would, however, like these to be removable. I am curious as to the cutout pattern Klipsch used on their later models. I will remove the original trim and grille cloth, then I'll add permanent trim and the masonite panels. At some point I would like to veneer the speakers. BTW, these are great speakers and I've found this forum to be most helpful.
  5. That was Jermaine Dye. Thanks for the comment, Moon. A gracious Mariner's fan. But much too early. I was at the first two A's/Red Sox games. Hopefully, I won't have to go back for game 5. Go A's!
  6. I've been told that banana stickers from Dole or Chiquita evenly spaced around the woofer will tighten up the bass. Something about the glue on the sticker helps to dampen resonances. Because of the bright blue and yellow colors the Chiquita are preferred to help deflect brightness of tone. I don't know. Sounds reasonable.
  7. I am rather new here (at least as a poster) but I would not listen to the samples. You seem to have good taste in jazz and I love to experiment with different albums anyway. I'll often purchase a jazz title based upon one person's recommendation.
  8. I'm enjoying this. There is so much good jazz out there it is brain-boggling. I remember back when I was totally jazz-ignorant and first heard the Stones' "Waiting On a Friend". Who IS that saxman? Ah, Sonny. Now I need to pick up some more. Thanks.
  9. Thank you, Q-Man. I have emailed them.
  10. Hello, everyone! I've enjoyed this forum for quite some time. Thank you for providing entertainment and enlightenment regarding all things Klipsch. I am a longtime Klipsch owner and recent purchaser of 1975 Cornwalls CD-BR. I wish to replace the cane grill cloth with something as close as possible to original. A search here has provided Wendell Fabrics as a good source. Their product appears to be very similar to the Klipsch cane. I would like to know if anyone has purchased this product, and if it is satisfactory. Does one order the exact size needed? Is the thickness similar to the original? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks so much. Jim
