  1. I have the 10 s, they are great speakers. The 20 s and 30 s are better. If you can get them for a good price ,get them.You can update them with new tweeters from bob crites. Ive had mine for 15 years,still sound awesome, never did a thing to them .

    Welcome, Tom,

    Like you, I never did a thing to mine, either.  No doubt, many of the comments about improvements/mods made to the KLF speakers reflect real, as well as perceived, differences.

    One question I have never resolved in my mind is when all the changing of the internals, electronics, damping, and on and on actually move the speaker out of the range to be considered "Klipsch" anymore.

  2. Interesting, isn't it?  Such different answers to the one question.  And all of them "right"--at least well-intentioned, (mostly) from personal experience, and without too much definition of what is meant by the terms used to describe.

    So, my own answer follows suit.  I have had the 30s, 20s, and 10s, all owned simultaneously.  Used in HT and "critical" music modes.  Admission--am more "mature" at age 70, so my hearing has declined significantly--what the heck, GONE, above about 12Khz.  But what I can hear, I can hear very well.

    As I personally love big and full and rich sound, I am thrilled by the quality of sound produced by all 3 speakers.  As "better" and price-points and 2-way vs 3-way are all individual preferences, the unquantified/non-numerical assessment I have is that all 3 sound wonderful, and do wonders for those who like towers.

    Am sure there are many who know much more about the subject, and who have actual experience with the similarities and differences.  And I am also sure that a few of these actually can discern some significant differences. To them, and for all who want to know more and experience more, thank you for detailing the specifics that help others--like me--learn more what I am hearing, and what I "should" be listening for.

  3. I've personally never liked the Academy center, its barely a step up over the KG 2.2 / 2.5 to me. Also, there is a big difference between the RC-64 and the RC-64 II, kind of like comparing the RB-81 to a RB-75. In my experience, with movies and TV shows timbre matching hasn't been an issue with mis-matched gear, so long as sensitivity and output are close. I could definitely see if you were running 5.1 music where you'd want everything matched but for TV? Most of the sound comes from the center itself.

    Actually, I just brought home a pair of KLF-10 speakers, with Crites tweeters (had never heard any Crites improvements, so I simply wanted to experience a little for myself).  Having just sold my C7 center 2 weeks ago, I put my KG 2.2v center between them.  I thought they (the 3) sounded great together.  Now, I have not experienced a long and varied run with that combination, but surely sounded excellent to me.  But then, I may be more modest, because I like the KG 2.2 sound.

    My opinion, anyway.

  4. Beautiful speakers, beautiful city.

    Charleston geography quiz--those REALLY in the know are aware that:  at Charleston, the Ashley and Cooper Rivers converge, and they form the Atlantic ocean!

    Just ask any Charlestonian . . . . right, Fuzzy?

  5. Denon AVR-X4000 Receiver. Powerful, elegant style, and "new" -- well, used less than 24 hours in order to test the functions! Superb Denon receiver--the heart and brain of your audio and video activities.

    A few of the many upscale features:
    * 7 channels of amplification rated at 125 watts/ch into 8 ohms
    * Audyssey MultEQ XT32 with SubEQ HT --automatic room acoustic measurement and correction for the best acoustic output of the speakers and subwoofers, and the most natural tonal balance in virtually any room.
    * Increased connectivity:
    -- 7 HDMI inputs
    -- Adds a 3rd HDMI output, parallel for main zone (e.g. for connecting both a projector and a regular TV in the same room)
    -- Dedicated PHONO input with pre-amp stage built in -- VINYL LOVERS will appreciate this
    -- Ethernet Connectivity with Internet Radio ,Streaming Services and AirPlay
    * 3 Zones instead of 2

    Am offering this unused (NEW CONDITION) receiver for only $480.  $1,299 is the original MSRP of this receiver, when it debuted a couple of years ago. The ABSOLUTE LOWEST price available on the internet (as of date of posting) is $649.99, for a refurbished unit. I took this receiver in trade for a pair of my very desirable Klipsch speakers, and have left it unused since then (have 2 Yamaha receivers, and another Denon for my use). This receiver includes the setup microphone, the remote control, and the power cord.

    See photos below.

    So, email me to make your arrangements to purchase. Am located 30 miles west of downtown St. Louis, MO.

    You will be delighted, and should have many thousands of hours of audio and video bliss!
