MSRP was around $1995 pair. Few people have ever seen or heard them so you probably won't get much reliable feedback.

If the guys Denon receiver works you might take a CD player/interconnects or whatever with you so you can listen to the speakers. If they work make sure all the drivers work. The grills, including the subwoofer grill are removeable for inspection. Keep in mind the only parts that are available will be on E-Bloy. On the owners manual link above look at the speaker binding posts of the amps. Since the speakers are bi-wireable there are 2 pair of speaker bindings post. For single wire use there should be gold colored straps connecting positive + and negative - speaker binding posts. If the straps are missing you can use short pieces of speaker wire between the positive binding posts and the negative binding posts. Of course make sure the switch of the amp is set to 'on'.

Yes, maybe you have a local electronics service business that can service the amps, should they need it. Check to see if they work. If they do work but have a hum then repair shouldn't be too costly. Don't know about your area though. Read the manual linked and you will get a pretty good idea of the connection options available to you.

If your receiver has dual subwoofer outputs you can use a sub cable to the LFE inputs on the speakers for LFE. Then you would set your receiver accordingly. Or if you have one sub out you can use a 'Y' cable to split the sub out signal to both speakers. Or, run one sub cable to one speaker input and another sub cable from the sub out of the first speaker to the sub input of the other speaker.

There are lots of options. A little trial and error will help you to decide your preference.

Pretty regularly on E-boy you'll find a center KSF-C5 and surrounds KSF-S5's. I wouldn't pay over $125 for the center and maybe $150 for the surround pair. If you can buy the 300's for around $300 you'll have a nice surround system for little money.

    Good luck.

Yes, they have a plate amp on the rear of the speaker and a detachable power cord. The speakers are bi-wireable and have line level inputs for the sub along with volume control. There is a slide switch with positions on-off-auto which will turn on the speaker with an audio signal and turn off after around 20 minutes idle.

The speakers are around 17 years old. The plate amps may need servicing. Plug the speakers in and turn them on. If they hum they will need servicing. You may be able to find someone local or exchange on E-Buoy.

I prefer the warmer sound of these speakers to Chorus and Chorus II's I've owned in the past. These won't need an investment in crossovers to prevent listening fatigue.

Go check them out. Make sure they work. Come back and ask more questions.

  4. am looking for a front speaker for a living room, moderate sized for CD playing and theater use.  Locally on CL KSP300 is open for offers.  I like the idea of no subwoofer but guess each speaker has builtin sub-amp and has to be connected to AC.

    anyone have the set?

    thanks,

you could go with the rc-10 or a rc-42 also. they also used 4.5" woofers.

locally there is synergy C-2 center speaker on CL for $60, will this be work with RF-10 or KF-28 (I will be getting these for main room)?    thanks

  6. I live in Davis, California, and have been looking around for KF-28 in good shape for a good price..., somewhat hard to come by, except for a dealer type on CL....

Let me know if u can make my day...

  7. this is 10 years after the original question, I have had RF10 for 3 months now and can verify indeed, these speakers are excellent for front main speakers for music or theater (with a sub), worth every penny, listen to them about 5 hrs on weekends...

  8. I bought a pair of RF10 during x-mas for my exercise room.  Surprisingly good sound with all type of music, am not a rocker...  Also use for home theater with a polk audio sub.   Never had Klipsch before although about 40 years ago, was impressed by La Scala at a store....

Surprising result for my investment, more than satisfied, now for my main room looking at KF-28 for theater use...  What I am saying is these speakers are exxxelllenteee!

  9. For home theater setup I have only 2 front speakers (RF-10) with a 10" subwoofer, am looking for a visually similar center speaker that is <$100.  I see the new RC-10 are around $150.

Is there an older model with "copper" color speaker material that is made for center speaker?, will other Klipsch center speakers work?

  10. If you are willing to post you location we can help find you some additional deals in your area. Here it UT there are a set of KG 5.5's going for $475 and you can probably get him down to $425 or so. I have a pair and absolutely love them. They are better for larger rooms though as you need to run a good amount of power into the speakers to open up the bass and in a smaller room the highs can really start to scream at you.

this is a friendly crowd, thanks,  Live in Sacramento, California fortunately....

  11. I have listened with the F-3's in two channel and they sound pretty good. They are very efficient. Remember the quality of the amp you drive them with makes a significant difference.

woot.com just had the F-3's brand new for $179 apiece. They still have some nice offers on the table. Maybe, check them out!

.......Just so you know, Klipsch does not have and "e" on the end!

thanks, woot! is interesting, no "e" OK.

  12. not interested in home theater but strictly for 2channel audio in a large room.  I listen mainly to small jazz group, instrumental etc, using a digital amplifier low power like D amplfiier.

Local CL has pair of Synergy F-3, like new at $450 or best offer.  I am thinking about it since Klipsche tend to be very efficient with low power amp in a large listening room.

Would be interested in impression as to how this setup may work from forum members.

    thanks,
