  1. There are no bridges between my home and Raider games at the Oakland/Alameda Coliseum. There are no fans, like Raider Fans! (That can be a good thing/bad thing.) Klipsch out.

  3. Denon DL-S1 Available at a steal of a price from Audiocubes, $689 http://www.audiocubes.com/product/Denon_DL-S1_Moving_Coil_Cartridge.html Klipsch out.
  4. The Denon DL 103 will work with a unipivot arm. You can order the headshell weight from VPI. It's worth it, if you can wait for a DL103D to show up on Audiogon. I know that is a good combo. Dynavector has a special VPI 20X-H version. The Shelter 501, in my mind, is close enough to the 901 in cost that I would hold out for the 901, again using the headshell weight. An alternative to the 501, if that's the budget limit, is the Denon DL-S1. Klipsch out.
  5. M, May I suggest you spend some time listening to some Jazz radio stations on the web. It provides the opportunity to listen to a wide range of artists, different periods of time in the development of those artists, different periods in the development of Jazz, as well as the titles of LPs you may wish to investigate further. You will gain insight into backrounds of many of the artists, the influences of Jazz on other genre's, as well as other genre's influence on Jazz, and it helps develop a more instinctive ear. Best of all, it's free. http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/finder?sr=Y&s=R&state=&format=jaz&band= Here in the SF Bay area, I listen to kcsm.org, broadcasting from San Mateo, CA. Klipsch out.
  6. Mike, Sorry my comment stung. I have said this before, but I'll repeat it. I am a vinyl ethusiast first and foremost. There are a multitude of choices available for playback. Do I own a VPI product? Yes. I will gladly provide what information I can for those interested. Do I think VPI is the only option one should consider when looking at playback sources? No. In fact, I try attempt to share what small knowledge I have that's based on personal experience, or auditions, testimonials of others, or research, discussions or correspondence with distributor, manufacturers, and designers. That covers more that VPI products. I looked at many options before buying VPI tables, and knew there was more than one capable of delivering the performance I desired. I've also said this before, I get no cut regardless of product chosen. I think it is not a good sign when everyone is using the same products, therefore I try to control my "homer" instinct to recognize the broader issues which should bring a broad array of products into consideration. Thoughtful evaluation by each person of their individual requirements and audio path, should result in a wide array of products being deployed in systems. Everyone should NOT be purchasing the same thing. Diversity rules in audio too. Klipsch out.
  7. We know.................we know...........................we know already!!!!!! Klipsch out.
  8. You really don't have an understanding of winemaking. What BS you write sometime..... It must be the race to higher post stats. Klipsch out.
  9. Joe, Read my post to your other thread. Clearaudio offers you alternatives of known quality, and not prohibitive cost. Save yourself, from yourself. Klipsch out,
  10. Puchasing this table is definitely a step in the right direction. There is nothing wrong with building a great system one piece at a time. If nothing else, it provides a good frame of reference for what is gained or lost when each piece is upgraded. Each individual should have some idea what "their" sonic goals are, and move according to "their" budget, and "their" timetable. I do suggest you purchase your Rega arm as a Clearaudio rewired arm, which should provide the best match for the table. Many reports say theRB250 is better as a modified arm than the RB300, so some homework is in store for you on that issue. I'm sure Max will have a cow on this next thought, but being a unipivot fan, Clearaudio offers a 12 inch and 14 inch unipivot arm at reasonable prices, and is a possible next step. Enjoy the music! 11. Chris, If you can get one (Scout) new for $1350, including shipping, that is a good price. The $900 price shows up on Audiogon from time to time. I can't say how often a $1000 asking price might get closer to $900, or $1100 posted asking prices get closer to $1000 either. As for a P25 vs a Scout, as with most things, opinions and sonic preferences vary, but the P25 is going out of production. The fact that Scouts hold a great deal of their market value may mean something, or not. Here is a current one for sale. http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?anlgtabl&1161015744 I have no connection to the seller. Klipsch out.
  12. Horsepuckey!! I don't want to believe I read this, and that someone actually wrote it...............????. Klipsch out.
  13. Tony pretty much has it right with respect to ".....Bennett feels that Americans don't even appreciate the impact of jazz in popular culture. He says, "Fifty years from now people will be bowing to DIZZY GILLESPIE and CHARLIE PARKER, just like impressionist painters like MONET, who were starving in their day. The Americans don't even know what they have come up with." So sad, but true. The other night, while the movie "The Whole Ten Yards", was playing on TBS (I think), the lines of a Charles Mingus tune becomes part of the movie. How many times do you hear " I don't understand Jazz"? Yet, it's all around us. Klipsch out.
  14. BillH2121, The Scout should really not require anyone to stand up for it. It's been on the market long enough, and has been reviewed by almost every major publication that covers turntables. The conclusion is generally the same. It is an outstanding "value", and performer, for those interested in analog reproduction, right out of the box . The JMW 9 arm is also considered to bring the same attributes to the fore when mounted on the Scout, not to mention that is designed by the same designer of the table. The capablility to stay within the Scouts basic form factor, and through upgrades, take it into a very serious performance realm is another big plus. Unless something has changed that I am not aware of, you will not be able to go to a JMW 10 inch arm with the Scout. It only supports the JMW 9, but there is an upgraded JMW 9 arm available. Going up to an Aries table will allow the use of a 10 inch arm, moving to the "extended" Aries table will allow use of the 12 inch arm. Chris, As for the originally posted question, I had an RB300 arm available when I purchased my Scout several years ago, but decided to go with the JMW arm. Sorry I can not provide a comparison, because the RB300 was never mounted to that table. Generally speaking, I prefer a uni-pivot arm. A used Scout/JMW 9 package will generally cost between $900 and $1100, and it outperforms most of the vintage lower cost options, and the closer priced new options from Music Hall on build quality alone. From my limited understanding of the Basis line, the 1400 has no upgrade path, which may or may not be important to you. Klipsch out.
  15. How could you not have that Schroeder arm mounted??????????? Klipsch out.
  16. This is too funny! [] I have to give you credit for linking SET to terrorism but I find the comparison more than a little strained. The reason I am negative about nearly all the SET amps I've heard is because they are lame. The 15W one I heard earlier this year at AKFest was pretty decent although not my cup of tea either, but at least it didn't fall flat on its face like its lower powered brother. I am also not against SET12's amp either, as I haven't heard it; if you were a careful reader instead of a propagandist, you'd know that. As for your false statement that I am making false statements, what are these false statements specifically? Mr. Parrot, FACT. VRD owner sells VRD's because he has discovered preferable sonic characteristics of low powered SET,..............and he is not looking back. It appears VRD's are the lame amps, and once again, clearly indicates others disagree with you. Have a nice day! Klipsch out.
  17. old buckster, Stay Dumb if that's your decision. Fine by me. As for insults, they did not originate on the SET side. Where have you been??? The point is,... there is no BEST. Each individual has their own requirements based on audio/sonic taste, and musical preferences. Get off YOUR butt and do some research/reading. Then go out and listen for yourself. If you believe SS RULES, then end of story. Klipsch out.
  18. Beware that UPS did not destroy the original packaging, then do a quick dirty rebox of the damaged speakers, and send them on. Check with the seller to determine how the were packaged. UPS actually did that to a pair of surround speakers I had purchased once upon a time. Klipsch out.
  19. And your point is.......................? Please tell us how many SET amps you have auditioned, along with where, when, and made by whom? Klipsch out.
  20. You seem to be the one having trouble with the reality of VRD amps being replaced with SET amps. It would make more sense to respect someone's opinion other your own, rather than pretend there's a negative like "age" factor. So buy them and be happy. I'm certainly not standing in your way. Can you take it? Klipsch out.
  21. Mr. Parrot, Give it a rest. You must believe that if you continue to repeat false, and negative statements about SET amps, people will start to believe them. That continued repeating of false statements was the White House strategy for it's sale of WMD, which we all know you bought, and now all know to be mere propaganda. Your anti-SET campaign will suffer the same fate. That's why I continue to encourage individuals to educate themselves by reading and use of the internet to obtain a more balanced perspective, upon which, they can base and pursue a future purchase. Need I also remind you of a very recently posted sale of VRD amps. Yes, the amps you and others own, and think so highly of. What was the reason for sale? The owner discovered the sonics of low powered SET amps and was not looking back. Bye bye VRD's. OOOOPS!!!!!!!!!! That blows all the anti-SET smoke right back up your a$$. It clearly demonstrates that there are people who have different tastes and opinions than yours. Accept the fact that not everyone thinks as you do, and should not be intimidated to feel their choice of amp topology is inferior, regardless of what it may be. Klipsch out.
  22. Congratulations on the new Teres table. The Teres photo posted by jbryan has a Schroeder arm mounted, and that would be a wonderful combo. The only problems are you almost never see the arms on the used market, and there is a long waiting list for any of the wood bodied arms. The carbon fiber arms aren't chased after as hard and are sometimes "in stock". None are cheap,......... but you only go around once! Enjoy the music when you get "whatever" tonearm. Klipsch out.
  23. SOSFTSOPDD. Same old sh!t from the same old people different day! Objective facts? One audition, with one amp, and you're brimming with objective facts? I think George Wright will now build the 2A3's with higher end components than was once not his practice which should make a difference. Tube selection also matters, but you have never demonstrated "objective facts". It's always amazed me that your cadre, out of many reviews of 2A3, 300B, and 45 SET amps posted on the internet by people with more exposure to more systems than any of your cadre, can speak of SET amps with appreciation for their sonic characteristics, while your only attempts are to be as negative as possible. One must conclude you're the only ones who understand dynamics. SOSFTSOPDD! Klipsch out.
  24. Dean, It seems you still confuse LOUD with DYNAMIC. With a pair of Khorns, it takes only one watt to get 104db. That takes care of the loud. I HAVE a 100w/ch SS amp that can put out 95db and not peak 10 watts. So does that mean it's more dynamic? What your point with the Crown? Because someone uses high powered solid state, they then automaticlly understand SET, (single ended triode) and dynamics? I don't think so! Your statement is one of the funnier things I've read lately. "SOSFTSOPDD" "There Must be a (Serious) problem when any system (or component) has to play "louder than life" to sound "natural" and "alive"." These are some of many reasons I suggested oldbuckster use an internet search engine, not the Klipsch forum, to get a better prospective on amps of all kinds. Just too much mis-information and crap shoveled here by some if SET is discussed. I get no cut of anything anyone chooses to purchase, so I don't care what anyone spends their money on. It is however important that they get information from other sources where LOUD, is not confused with DYNAMIC. Klipsch out.
  25. BULLSHIT!! Really displays how little you know about SET AND dynamics. Klipsch out.
