  1. I got these Klipsch KLF10's last month and I like them better than many Klipsch I had before. They sounded great and no issue until I popped in Star Wars DVD and blasted the volume. In some scenes that have very low frequencies, I heard a rattle. When I put my hand on the top front baffle near the horn, it doesn't rattle. I took the tweeter out and it still rattles so it's on the front baffle. I read glue used can dry out on them. Some suggested to scrape off the original glue, take the baffle completely out and then reglue using liquid nails. Also, suggested was to add some braces. In most listening levels, I don't hear rattle. It's only on some low frequencies at high volume. My question is, can I just pour some wood glue along the seam without dismantling the baffle as a quick fix? Thanks
  2. They are freakin heavy and deep though so they'll stick out in the room. I sold my pair few months ago as they looked like a monster in my family room. As for price, my pair had some scratches and vinyl wrapping was delaminating in few places. I started at $750 and no bites. During that time, one amp started making funny noises so I dropped price to $425 and sold them. Another amp was making loud pop when turned off. Depends upon condition. They are big and not many followers like heritage series so you can bargain. They did sound really nice though. Better than Forte's. They are much smoother than other horns. Here is a picture of my pair: Klipsch-KSP-400-P1050232.jpg Oh my god, that ad was yours? I remember you trying to unload those things for a looooong time! I believe I may have even contacted you back before the amp started going bad, but it was more just a showing of interest as I did not have Klipsch money back then. Very interesting! Yes, one sub was not making any bass, it was just like full range low sound from that 15" woofer. Even funnier was this. I had them unused for few weeks. The buyer showed up and I hooked them up and the bad amp/sub also works fine. I was not sure what the hell was wrong before when it decided not to create bass. Anyways, I had to get them out so the buyer got a deal.
  3. May be slightly due to oak but what I hear is a whole lot different. Could be new mid, woofer and crossover on the later model Heresy's.

  5. How different/better are RF5 than RF3's?
  6. I saw those rf15's as well. Would have grabbed for surrounds if I had space on the side.
  7. You didn't want them? Here is for posterity...
  8. Good luck! I'd be your competition on the next one.
  9. They have fuses too, you might check. Most issues are with the plate amp itself. I can't really tell you what goes bad in them though. You mean fuses on the multimeter? It's el'cheapo one so not sure.
  10. May be you were behind the "Honk if you love Bronco's" truck. I hardly ever hear honking here and that's also when someone stays on green arrow or something similar. I was in Dallas for 10 years and you get a lot more honking, pushing and even shooting.
  11. I just realized it's RW-10D. I created a separate thread for this here: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/153056-klipsch-rw-10d-subwoofer-no-power/
  12. I bought this RW-10D as is and it does not turn on. Fuse is good. I checked power inside the plate amp and it does have power up to the first connection. I didn't check after that as I'm not sure where and what to check. However, I did hear a faint thud when the power was turned on. I fried my multimeter soon after that. I switched mode to check continuity and forgot to switch back to A/C mode. Now the multimeter just flashes number in all modes even without connecting anything. Plate amp looks brand new. I can't see any resistor or cap burnt or even dark. Capacitors look fine. One inductor (or transformer) by power input) looks dark but not sure if it's like that or that's what burnt transformer looks like. The wires on it looks okay though. I took the ribbon connectors and put them back in snug fit so not sure what the issue is. The digital display on top doesn't light up. When I put amp back, I found some white stuff on my finger so may be something is leaking. What say you? thanks
  13. Thanks. Your avatar has some nice Klipsch references.
  14. For home theater, I'm pretty much done unless I find something similar or better. Klipsch RF3, RC3, SS1 (sold RS-3 as they were too big to fit on the side) plus Definitive Technology PF15TL+ subwoofer is enough there. I had JBL setup before and my receiver had hard time pushing them. Klipsch gets loud enough for HT without pushing the receiver to max. For music, my favorite is Boston Acoustics A400's followed by KLF10 and Yamaha NS-690. A400's have stayed with me all along. I like them better than Forte, Vandersteen 1, Polk SDA's and many others. A400's have really nice open sound and doesn't sound in your face even at high volumes and great bass. Plus they can be placed right against the wall and only 7" deep so don't take too much space and look very nice. Heresy's are good for low volume listening at night. I'm using Polk Monitor 7, Epicure 20+ (refoamed and recapped) and JBL L80t3 (refoamed) in basement. Still deciding among the JBL L80t3, Yamaha NS-690 (similar to NS-1000 without beryllium drivers) and Epicure 20+. Need to get rid of two pairs out of those three and many more from the basement.
  15. Thanks. Now I'll hold you on that if you complain when I post too many. Dang it, I already got this message, "This reply has not been added as it has been posted too quickly". I need to post little slower than too often.
  16. No idea what's going on with it. I bought it as is with a sticker on top with this 'Doesn't turn on' or something similar. Price was good so I thought if the woofer is good, it's worth it plus cabinet/grill is in really nice shape.
  17. Okay thanks. That's what I though. BTW, these sound much better than the HBR I had before. HBR sounded so bad that I sold them within a week. They were harsh and no bass whatsoever. Not sure if HBR were having crossover issues or these HOO are upgraded. These HOO sound much better, smooth and while bass is still less but not lacking. Is there anyway to tell if tweeter/mid is upgraded looking from outside? Here are tweeter and mid pictures:
  18. Hehe... Funny thing is I tried to join last year or early this year and it said a moderator will need to approve the registration. I never got the email to activate. I emailed that issue from help contact thingy and nothing happened. Yesterday I tried again and got the activation link right away so that's what took me so long or at least one year late.
  19. Thanks Chuck. Wannabe but never became one. Guitar on the stand sounds better than when I play.
  20. I just got a pair of Heresy HOO with risers. Few nicks and scratches but overall look very nice, much better than the HBR I had before. When are these Heresy HOO manufactured? From the serial number, looks like 1985. Thanks
  21. Hi all, I'm an audioholic. Been reading forum for long time and decided to join finally. I'm in Denver. I've had/have quite a few Klipsch speakers. Had: Klipsch KG2 Klipsch KG2.5 Klipsch KG4 Klipsch Heresy HBR Klipsch Forte Original Klipsch SF-2 Klipsch KSP-400 and few I forgot. Currently Using: Klipsch RF-3, RC3 and surrounds (for HT). Klipsch Heresy HOO Klipsch KLF10 Klipsch RW-12D (currently dead and researching on a fix) and few centers and surrounds somewhere in the basement. Additionally, I probably have over 30 pairs of speakers from Advent, AR, Boston, DB Plus, Epicure, Infinity, JBL, Polk, Yamaha, etc... Few snaps of my living room from non-crowded to crammed in...
  22. Thanks Bill. I'll open it and see if there is anything out of ordinary. I have a plate amp from Optimus PRO SW-10P subwoofer and was thinking to use that but it's only 120 watts.
  23. I have the exact same issue. I bought RW-12D as is not working. Looks like replacing amp is the only way to fix them.
