  1. First off, I would never agree or even suggest sharing my profits on an item I purchased here. It's yours to do what you want. If someone gave it to you for a cheap price, that's because they wanted to. It's none of theirs or anyone's business as to what you do with the item after you receive it, do upgrades (however minor they are in some views), and then repost to sell it.

Good luck with selling it,and don't feel bad or obligated to anyone else for trying to get what the market dictates it's worth.

I gave away a few items in the past and would never expect those people who wound up with the items to feel obligated to me in sharing their profits with me. That's just plain ridiculous.

As for shipping, try and weigh and measure the sub, then add on another 7 lbs or so, and go to the post office or fedex for rates.Don't call as they are never correct with shipping prices, then pick a few zip codes that are furthest from you for the max rates. That's what I would do and have done in the past.

Again, good luck with the sale, and don't feel bad or obligated, you have a set price that says what it is or best offer. If they want to complain about pricing tell them to move on then. If it doesn't sell here or craigslist or even the bay, then you know it's overpriced. But it's also a slow time for selling as well, so take that into consideration.

Lots of bubble wrap as well as A1UC's recommendation work for me as well.

  2. Fido,

It was in fact created by him. I'm also having Marc Morin help with the suspension and tone arm bearings through Larry.  He is a great guy to deal with as well.

His focus is on Dual tables and AR's but he also does a little of everything else. Very nice guy to chat with, truly likes his work.

The table above is a one off, but will now be a 2 off as I want the same exact thing, except the arm will be the SME S shaped tube.

See my signature below and this will be replacing one of the turntables.

  3. When playing with "fun" money, I would buy covered calls on my stock, if the stock doesn't run up to the price point, you keep the money.Very easy way to make a few grand weekly/monthly. And the best part is if you get "called" on your stock, you make money. And then on the way down, puts are good.

For anyone looking to "tune up" their Technics tables, there is a guy here about 20 minutes from me that is known as the Technics "guru". He does everything to them from lubing to modding, wiring, and builds add on parts. If it's OK to post his site, it's KABUSA.COM. His name is Kevin. I listened to his system that has a Technics SL1200 and my jaw dropped,it was that good.

Kevin Barrett of KAB is definitely the SL-1200 guru.  He does mods and upgrades, and sells good-looking well-made wooden bases for 1200s.

I'm actually contemplating getting one of his custom tables fully modded out.

Good idea, but you might want to wait a bit and see what the new SL-1200G is like when it comes out in a few months.  Kevin has not had access to new 'tables for some time, I believe, so his custom 'tables are most likely all refurbished units.

I'd only do a refurb that was customized. But before I decide, I'm getting a custom built AR done up. I may do an S shaped arm as well.

twk123, on the Shure cartridge, it may have gunked up dirt, oil on the stylus tip. If you know someone who retips or redoes carts, send it to them to repolish it up for you. If not, again if it's OK top post, try Andy at Needleclinic.com. He is excellent. He rebuilds carts, cantilevers, suspensions, and is very fair on pricing. If not, you can try the Ed Saunders replacement stylus as it's supposed to be identical to the original. If you want to go Jico, they have a few as well, and then there's the Jico SAS (very expensive now) and the EVG version which is made in the Jico warehouse for them. It will have that cartridge sounding open and clear on any of the replacements.I had the version 3 as well and it had the original and SAS stylus.

  7. This cartridge was rebuilt in Japan and has an upgraded aluminum cantilever and Nivico Sperical tip.It sounds better to me than the original, but again that's to my ears. I purchased this on Ebay from the seller and it took over 45 days to get to me,so I opened a case and in the meantime had ordered another one from the US that was already modded as I was going to mod this one with either the wooden case or the Paradox Aluminum case. Since I have the other one, I have no need for this one.

  8. No it's not you, it's the dumbing down of society without getting political. No one wants top take responsibility for their own actions, no one wants to mind their own business, no one wants to help their fellow man but will videotape them in a situation, no one respects authority anymore............

  9. I have 4 kids, 15 year old triplets and an 11 year old. Never ever has any one of them ever gotten away from me when out in zoos, amusement parks, or anywhere else like a public place. And if I ever wanted to take pictures of an animal, they'd be in front of me, picked up and held, or on the side of me holding my hand, each others hands, and told not to move. Especially at the age of the child. And if they didn't want to listen, we'd leave immediately.

The child who fell in told his mother numerous times he was going to climb in there. Then when he started, the people around him ignored the fact as they did not want to get involved. I for one would have said something to the lady, kid, and would have grabbed him had I seen something like that, and then laid into the mother. But that's just me.

So my take on this is two fold, the parenting, and the people who watched and did nothing. Not the zoo. This is what we have done to society, take the blame from the parent, and put it on anyone else it will stick to.

That area to me was more than fine. But I'm sure my opinion will differ on this.

It was a terrible accident that could have been prevented had the parent took her child by the hand instead of telling him to put it in her back pocket, and then ignored him stating he was going to climb in there. Or she could have just picked him up and held him while taking a picture,or put him on her shoulders. I've had my triplets on my shoulders, holding onto my back like a back ride, and holding one in the front at the same time. 1 child should be easier to handle than 3.
