  1. John, more info on the Chinnese plywood, please. What part of the country are you in. Used to be our home towns were part of the data. I am looking into building a pair of 825's, if I can't find a good pair within 500 miles. Jim N
  2. Has anyone checked out the other forums here? Are we the only ones *****ing about the new format? Jim
  3. You guys are hard up if you need a new excuse. My wife is trying to work in an opening in her travel schedule. might be late in the year. Jim N
  4. To make the font sizes work in PC IE, you have to change the accessablilty rules. Tools->Internet Options->General->Accessablity click on ignore font sizes J Norvell
  5. You might consider an upsampling DAC. It gets CD's closer to SACD performance. Jim N
  6. Well we could meet up at either the Lansing or the AA bar to cary on this conversation. I have also noticed that it has slowed considerably. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Jim N
  7. John Handy "Live at Monterey" "Mingus Plays the Piano" Lightning Hopkins "Lightnin Sam Hopkins" And if you can find it "Mingus at Monterey" J Norvell
  8. My only complaint is the font size. By the time I get it big enough on this forum, it is way to big on most all of the other sites. I csn live with everything else, but not the font size. Jim N
  9. I have one. It is as good as my CEC 2.0/MSB upsampling DAC on CD's. Jim N
  10. Well, it appears that a new cartridge was in order. This Ortofon (X5-MC) seems to be much better than the Sumiko Blue Point Special that Had last year. I don't remeber the detail that I hear with this one. And it is cheaper, too. Haven't gotten around to comparing it to SACD's yet. Jim N
  11. The numbers that I have (gotten from this forum)are: Qm 7.39 Qe .41 Qt .39 Fs 35 Vas 302 Liters BL 11.9 Jim N
  12. I think that is the former rather than the latter. Jim
  13. Well, I am going to give the ole TT one more shot. Just ordered an Ortofon X5-MC (high output MC). Thanks to NOS440's cheap cartridge link. Dave, if you ever make it to the Left coast (San Jose) look me up. My wife is threating me with a trip to Dallas to see the kin. Not sure if I am up to it. 14. OK, I am willing to bite. Just pulled out my Sony belt drive, SME III, Grace cartridge (10 years old). Does not seem to do much for me. I am willing to throw some money into a cratridge, any suggestions. My 777ES does a much better job at rendering music from old CD's, not to mention how good SACD's sound. I primaraly like old Jazz (Migus, Coltrane, Hawkins, etc). Unfortunately, the Winton brothers don't show up on LP's. J Norvell
  15. Bmar, I can't imagine that you would need mouth vanes in the horns that you build. On the other hand, the original K-5's (http://216.37.9.58/ubb/uploads/k2dx/khn-1wisc.jpg) probably need them. J Norvell
  16. Dump the wife. Keep the speakers. She probably has other defects as well.
  17. 511 B sizes: Mouth is about 21X9 inches (Measured at flange) The "curved" distance around the mouth is 24 inches The depth is about 18.5 inches. Jim N
  18. Have you seen this site? http://www.woodhorn.com/home.html Jim N
  19. It is a Karlson cabinet. Don't know abuot the rest. See http://home.student.utwente.nl/e.j.j.ulfman/ Jim N
  20. There are a whole lot of us out here running 10 watts max tube amps into our horns with no problems. Cornwalls must be at least 100db with one watt. Unless you are using them in a very large room, you should have no problems. Jim N
  21. You are right. I just checked with FedEx and they want about $300 to ship. Twice the price of the horns. Jim N
  22. Throat dia=0.675" Mouth is 16.75 x 5.75 Lenght is 20.75 Cutoff frequency is about 300 Hz. If I were going to build a wooden horn I think I would go with the K-5, rather than the K-400. (http://216.37.9.58/ubb/uploads/k2dx/khn-1wisc.jpg). See also Naked Klipschorns thread. Jim N
  23. Gil, do you have the dimensions for the K5? Jim N
  24. Looks to me like they are rear horn loaded into a corner, like the Khorn. Notice the slot down the rear. Jim N
