The differences are not subtle by any means, never been a huge Klipschorn fan but lose no respect for those who really enjoy them.

I suggest you demo a set before investing, somebody within a reasonable distance probably has a set.

Ya, I wouldn't mind demoing a set. If anyone has a set and is in the CT area and wouldn't mind me trying them out that would be great. The only problem I have now is that to my understanding Jubilee's need to be Biamped and I ordered the 5 channel amp from Emotiva and now they are telling me in order to upgrade it I need to send the whole thing in and let them do it. For those that don't know, it's modular and you can add channels but they wont just send me the channels. I am a computer technician I can install them in my sleep but they won't budge on the issue so now if I sent it in,  would be without an amp for probably at least 2 weeks and my AVP has no onboard amp.

This whole situation with them has me extremely frustrated to say the least!

  2. Alright now after seeing the for sale post of the jubilee's and doing more research I am wondering if perhaps I made the wrong choice. I hadn't realized until speaking with Cory that you can buy Jubilee's I thought that was just something people built custom. I'm gonna give the breakdown of what I am looking for here and everyone tell me what you think.

Don't get me wrong  I do love the K-horns but in all honesty they don't have as big of a soundstage as I thought they would, in fact my 88 La Scala's seem to have a bigger more in your face soundstage and that's what I am looking for above all. The K-horns do however have incredible detail, more than the La Scala's and of course much better bass. I guess I am looking for a mixture of both but with that huge soundstage. From what I hear if that's what your looking for you should go with the Jubilee's.

Another thing I like more about the Jubilee's is they don't require corner placement. Many people I talk to say the Jubilee is on a complete new level even from the K-horn.

    All input is greatly appreciated.

  3. I would love to hear a pair of Jubilee's someday! I'm sure everyone here is wondering if I am going to buy them but the seller and I discussed it and he said he would much rather try to sell them locally so he doesn't need to deal with shipping which I completely understand. I can't imagine how much those things weigh and I know it would cost at least 1k plus I just purchased the K-horns but if no one buys locally we will reconsider.

Good luck with the sale, whoever gets those will be extremely lucky!

The 402 is a great sounding horn.

As for the lows i think the La Scala with a folded horn subwoofer bests it in every way.

So surely a K-horn with a folded horn sub would beat it as well?? I was thinking I just odered the orbital Shifter's surely those paired with my K's would probably be on par with these right?

I was wondering that myself. I will say this thing would cost at least 100 to ship. I know that from experience, I once sold a Velodyne about the same size on eBay. The cheapest I could get was with Fedex freight which was just over 100. The best thing I would do is keep an eye out on eBay especially sellers like Onecall. They are always having deals on these subs. I've seen them brand new shipped for as low as 549 before. That low doesn't come around that often but they can mostly always be found in the 650 dollar range shipped which is an amazing price for this woofer.

Conn. is a ways, your close to my moms in Bristol. I really don't have a problem with shipping them but am just not setup to do it like a manufacturer would , palletized, strapped down and foil wrapped, the whole business. Also the shipping would probably be in the area of another $1200 or so.

    What year are those speakers?

I've been wanting one of these for quite a while but haven't had the money. I had to settle for a smaller and older sw110 to go with my RP 280 which I've pieced together. You wouldn't be interested in a trade would you? I have RP 250s and a Yamaha RX V677 AVR.

I appreciate the offer but I'm just looking for cash.

Compared to the Khorn the bass is much more forward, in your face.  The mid bass is also quite a bit better than the Khorn. Ram Jam "Black Betty" comes to mind, the drums are very impressive. The K402 is what most feel makes the Jubilee. Honestly they just do allot of things that most speakers just can't,  including the Khorns.

Just out of curiosity, is shipping an option? My zip is 06117.

  9. This is just a feeler to see how much interest I would get. I Can't actually sell these yet. I bought new sub's they are being built right now and will not be ready for about a month but when I get the new ones I will be selling these. They are 100% mint condition, only owned them for around a year. I am original owner, bought them both from Onecall.com I still have the Grills for both of them. I do not have the boxes though, too much clutter to keep them.

These are great subs as I'm sure most of you know. The only reason I am replacing them is I wanted to go with horn loaded subs.

Located in Connecticut and I can deliver within a reasonable distance.

They go for 899 brand new so I am thinking I'll do 500 each or 1,000 for both.

If you are local i have a couple here you can listen to before you take the leap.

I really appreciate the offer but it looks like I'm about 900 miles away if your sig is accurate and you're located in Chicago. I'm just wondering if I would be able to get away with just one. It's not even a matter of it not having enough power, I know it will have more than enough I am just looking for that full bass no dead spot experience and sometimes that's hard without 2 subs.

Its only overkill if adjusted improperly, the effortless bass adds nuances and feeling the mains just are not capable of producing.

If you have not heard them before you will not miss it but once you do it will feel like something is missing.

Hmm lol it doesn't take much to temp me into new audio gear, you may have just given me the push I needed to take the leap..

  12. Ya, idk it's not even that I am unsatisfied with the bass I have I kinda just wanted to try those JTR subs but for one thing I know they would be over kill for my room and secondly they are SOO big, I didn't really realize just how big they are until I actually took the measurements. To put them in a room of my size would really be ridiculous. Another thing that I've been doing lately is when listening to music I just set my mains to large and don't use subs I think it actually sounds better that way.

Klipsch is also sold at Best Buy.

Ya, see the reason they don't push Klipsch at best buy (at least the one near me) is because they only carry their lowest line. which is why they wouldn't push their products.  They don't even sell the reference line there, when I went I think they had some of their synergy speakers. I also remember they had them completely separated from the Magnolia room and hooked up to some broken receiver with the volume knob missing. I remember when I had the experience I was talking about earlier the woman just played whatever the demo song was and you couldn't even adjust the volume or change the music. She played it for about 4 seconds then immediately shut it off.

In the magnolia room though they had top of the line AVR's with cd, Blu ray players and even USB ports to hook up your own source material. If I was Klipsch I'd pull my product from best buy!

  14. Congrats on the retirement! My father was also a truck driver, I know the job can be stressful. I personally always liked the sound of Pioneer Elite with Klipsch heritage. I always found, and this was just me maybe others have had different experiences but Yamaha always seemed to be just too bright when paired with Klipsch so the sound became very piercing especially at higher volumes.

Maybe you misunderstand, you don't need that much power in a efficient horn design, all you end up with is a overheated voice coil and overburdened horn throat leading to excessive distortion.

The 15" driver in the THT will easily overpower the Klipshorn.

Ya, i was wondering about that and I figured that and the Orbital shifter would probably both easily overpower the K-horn. I couldn't believe it but one of those Orbital Shifters weighs more than a Khorn and I saw some youtube video's of the thing and it's HUGE! Truthfully after seeing the size of it I think it would look kinda ridiculous in my room, it would come out almost to the middle of the room.
