  1. Thanks, Bill - sounds like it's worth doing and I can always sell them out again.
  2. If you were going Heritage in HT, what would you get & why?
  3. The 7's would smoke them. At the asking price $800, I'd be wanting them to be a long-term buy that would hold its value. How's that going with the RF series? Would the 7's smoke CF-3 or CF-4 mains?
  4. Those are the ones. For that price I could hold out for a good deal on La Scala's or spend ~$450 for Forte II's.
  5. I've been offered a pair of RF-35's for $250 (trending around $400 on Audiogon BB) plus a SC-5 (no recent Audiogon sales) for another $25. Any thoughts on how these sound in home theater or 2-channel? How would they compare to Heresy (original) or Forte II's? I searched the forums and didn't get any hits on this speaker. Thanks in advance. This forum has been a real help as a newbie to Klipsch!
  6. Is $750-$800 considered great? Would they do better as home theater mains or as 2-channel mains? How would a speaker like the RF-35 compare?
  7. No. According to the owner, the Classics had the improved crossovers installed at the factory. Would it help if I asked about the label to learn more?
  8. Why would you go with the La Scala's? What put them over the top for you - certain types of music, staging of certain instruments, or what?
  9. If you don't mind speakers that can be very screechy in an under damped room or have a lot of acoustic treatments and don't mind not having any low bass, La Scalas are good. RF-7 II would be the other option and provide smoother sound though maybe not as fast. Depends on how you define low bass. I wouldn't ask either speaker to do what I expect from a good sub. I played a funky Fred Wesley track though a single La Scala and found it one of the most musical bass lines I'd ever heard. that has less to do with low frequency and more to do with the roundness, the fullness of the bass notes. If you think the Classic RF-7 or RF-7 is as good or better musically, please do let me know.
  10. Congrats on your Pass Labs amp, Tom. Looking forward to hearing a report once you've had time to get adjusted to the Pass amp and the Odyssey Candela preamp. I've got my eye on the latter myself...
  11. There's a pair of Classic RF-7 speakers for sale in my area, with factory-upgraded crossovers. I'm interested but not finding much info on them. Can anyone tell me: - How do Classic RF-7's compare with RF-7II's sonically? - Are Classic RF-7's better for 2-channel music or 5.1 home theater? What types of music or movies are they best suited for? (my AVR is a Yamaha A-3000, my 2-channel amps are Odyssey Stratos Monos) - When would you choose La Scala's over Classic RF-7's or RF-7II's? Thanks in advance for enabling my latest obsession...
  12. There ought to be an app for that. Just sayin'.
  13. Where? Please PM me a link if you saw this in a live auction. My searches aren't finding it.
  14. How did you find these? I've looked, but couldn't find anything Hey! Me first!!
  15. Thanks, Lars. I'm not too fussed whether the feet are original, as long as they fit over the stock KG spikes. Not sure whether the KG 3.5 feet are shared by other KG-series, or other Klipsch series for that matter. I have pics, but don't see a way to upload them into the post. Do I need to create a gallery and then link to it?
  16. Scored a pair of KG 3.5's on Friday and they sound great in my home office. Vocals and acoustic instruments sound especially fresh, clean and clear. However, one of the speakers is missing a plastic foot. Does anyone know of a good source for replacements? Thanks in advance.
  17. Do you think those cabinets can be salvaged? Or are they toast?
  18. I have a line on some La Scala's. I'm not sure I have the room in my 2-channel area, but they might squeeze into the home theater setup. So La Scala's trump Speakerlab K's and most other Klipsch will be better than Speakerlab K's, have I got that right? Any conditions for considering a Speakerlab K, or are they too big and the sound quality not worth it?
  19. I owned 4 factory built plywood Speakerlab SKhorns with the aluminum squawker. I agree. Completely with tom b. 57. If you & Tom agree Speakerlab K's are no Klipschorns, then what are they like? Would they play well against a La Scala? Cornwall? Forte?
  20. Dude would be nuts not to take $200. Those cabinets ought to be put out of their misery, and if what DizRotus said about the screens being filled w/paint were true...
  21. This has to be the saddest pair of La Scala's I've seen yet: https://offerupnow.com/item/detail/32102869
  22. 2010 Honda Fit Sport Won't fit a single Klipschorn, unless on its side and even with precautions folks advised against it. Can carry a single La Scala, but definitely not two. Can carry a pair of Epic CF-3's and anything smaller. Don't know about a pair of Cornwall or Heresy - possibly the latter. Cargo dimensions (conservative & based largest poss. rectangles): Main cargo area: 52" L x 40" W x 32" H Forward cargo area (rear seats folded down): 30" L x 50" W x 36" H Rear cargo area (hatch w/o privacy cover, minus rear seating area): 28" L x 40" W x 32" H Rear hatch opening: 33" W x 26" H Rear door opening: 20" W x 30" H I could give dimensions for when the rear seats are folded up, but the floor is uneven and fitting speakers is less than optimal in this space. Hope this helps!
  23. We used 1" straps which thread through the square tie-down slots which are all around the inside of the Uhaul so there are plenty of options to secure the straps inside the trailer. The straps were hand tightened lightly then hand-tied. Did you put furniture pads between the straps and the cabinets?
