Update: I fired them back up and had some distortion in the sound on one of them. The bass and lows were coming through fine but the singing sounded muffled. I did some troubleshooting that I found online and connected the speaker wire directly to the K55's. The singing came back through like normal from there. I imagine this is some sort of crossover issue.

I would caution you not to do that anymore.  Connecting an amplifier directly to the K55's can damage them very easily.

My girlfriend is giving me a hard time about the color since all my other speakers and equipment is all black. I'm still interested, just gotta get the approval 1st. I'll get back to you. Thanks for the pics.

FYI There's a black pair about 5 miles from me for $1500 on Craigslist.  Been on there awhile.  http://stlouis.craigslist.org/ele/5908774871.html

Zaw pulling a fast one, again.

Ah, that's an interesting statement.  I offered to take the stickers off of his hands, he hasn't replied yet.  Have these Khorns been seen before or something?

Sure looks like it Mark. Owner says he bought them in the late 90's but those tags are from 1990. They look like they have never been applied to anything.

Ok, so help a guy out, what does Ch II OO mean?  I think the OO is oiled oak?  What does it mean that the tags have never been applied?

  5. A few ideas - not sure if they're been mentioned yet.  Some of it may not be completely practical.

Most everyone in this thread is talking about veneers and grille cloth.  Those things are really important, but I'd like to mention a few other things.

One would be to get old-timers involved.  Retired employees that could help with aspects of the build, even if installing grille cloth or sanding wood.

Keep track of all employees who worked on a custom speaker and have them sign off on the pieces.  Keep this documentation to be delivered with the speakers.

Have a web portal where the customer can log in and have DAILY updates and detailed photos of the ongoing build process.

Finally, a photo of the finished goods with everyone gathered around.  An album of photos delivered with the speakers would be fantastic.  I think this would add to the value of the speakers and if it is an available option, there will be people willing to pay for it.

I need a mic... where did you get yours?

minidsp.com  What pbphoto said.  I'm going to start with REW, maybe try the trial version of Dirac Live (30 days) and if it works as advertised, I might try a minidsp DDRC-22A.
