  1. hi,

Sorry, I made a mistake, I meant seven capacitors :D There are 2 one on the other in the bottom right !

I dismounted my filter on CWIII and there is RLC on squawker and K33E, klipsch uses this method

Tsk, tsk; those zip-ties are the wrong color.

Six inductors, six capacitors. Three 2nd-order filters; either that or asymmetric crossover slopes.

    Hi,

I see at least 7 inductors, it seems to me that Klipsh always has an 18db / oct (3nd-order) on the tweeter, certainly the 1.5uF visible.

And then there must be RLC circuit(s) in parrallele on the squawker and maybe also the woofer to compensate for the bump in the impedance curve

    😉

As far as the Cornwall IV, I can see some of why a lot of people like what they're hearing--mostly midrange and tweeter driver/horn overhaul and I can only guess what Roy did with the crossover (although if someone were to open up a Cornwall IV and take a picture of the crossover--or perhaps even post a schematic--it would be much less of a mystery).  I do congratulate Roy on the CW-IV design as being Guttenberg's "Loudspeaker of the Year".  That's saying a lot, since there are so many factors (and so many non-technical ones, like the art of making loudspeakers that consumers will like--rather just make them accurate reproducers).  The original Cornwall design seemed to be PWK's upgrade from the Heresy (model "H"), and Roy has taken that design and really done something with it--enough to get real notice.  If there was a time that Klipsch could use that added reputation boost, now is a good time.

    Chris

    The demand was there 😉

  4. As Rickate says

After if you are a handyman, you can try to identify the fault: cut wire, tighten the terminals, coil of burned or cut membrane, damaged filter component, ...

and then try the repair yourself, for example if it is a solder you can do it yourself if you know how to use a soldering iron. If it is a membrane coil that is out of service, and after clearly identifying the reference number of the speaker, you can change this membrane, there are many tutorials on how to do it. A tip in this case change the mebrannes on the two speakers so that the sound is identical on both sides.

  5. I use an SMSL with great success, the sound is very good, it is the 6Th Sanskrit model. The construction is very good, especially for the price. There are newer and excellent models and the price is very low

Here in France, we can have these LED lamps manufactured for 30 or 50 € (35/55 $ ~) depending on the model. Just provide the photo to engrave the plaque. Check if there are the same services at home in the US

I know about humble. That is the reason i wanted alumen in the first place. But thanks.

I did not know about ESR though. Thank you for that. Good read.

What you are saying is that if i take an Amber z-cap and an alumen z-cap i will save a lot of $$ and it will sound better? That is interesting.

Hi STSOE : I'm French, so I'm sorry if my English does not have all the nuances to explain you clearly 😂

Yes, yes: I tell you it's in Humble that it's explained, for example here:

Mundorf MCap EVO Oil 450VDC - 3% tolerance

I found that the EVO Oil likes to be mixed with Jantzen Audio Superior Z-Caps, the slightly bright nature of the EVO Oil blends well with the very neutral and spatious sounding Superior Z-Cap. For example when used for a large value midrange series capacitor: mixed at about one third Jantzen Audio Superior Z-Cap and two thirds Mundorf MCap EVO Oil, together they form a well-balanced rich and spatious combo at a reasonable price.

  9. Yes it is not mandatory, but the advantage is to make the exact value you want and also the sound is better because the ESR is lower for 2 compared to only 1. And also because you can mix 2 different brands, look here for tests:

    http://www.humblehomemadehifi.com/Cap.html

With 2 you can make a price compromise: a not too expensive capacitor coupled with an excellent, you will have 90% or 95% of the capacitor qualities the best for not too expensive.
