  2. Well for me anyway. Here is the text of an email sent to me today by Seller after my recent, and might I add quite speedy, "Buy it Now" ebay purchase of Cornwalls: "...please do not send payment for this set, if you have sent payment, it will be returned. One of our new storage racks was built improperly and a side collapsed, causing the entire rack to collapse. The rack had most of our heavy reel to reels and some heavy receivers, these fell onto the cornwalls sitting next the rack. The housings on top are severely damaged, grills on both are ruined, woofer ripped, one horn cracked, as well as it's frame. X-700R reel to reel body badly cracked also. This was such a beautiful set and now it is just parts. I am contacting the manufacturer on these racks, we had one collapse 3 months ago, but I thought it was just a fluke. I am really concerned now. You have my sincere apologies on any inconvenience this has caused. If payment has already been sent, let me know what to do with it (return it or shred it)." And AFTER I just posted about another set on ebay. Oh the irony. ------------------ Two Channel System: Klipsch Fortes (1988) Jolida 202a Rega Planet Denon DP 3000 tt (Stax tonearm; Grado Gold cart.)
  3. Larry, Good topic! Funny tho', I was just thinking about the possibilities of a ceiling channel the other day. That one sounds like it could be done AND could be put to good use (i.e., any sound over the viewer such as a helicopter coming down etc.). This could even be more functional and easier to appreciate than a 7.1 setup. The gaming applications alone make me giddy. Of course I guess the problem is once you have one nothing would stop the tide of multi-channel ceiling sound. Thats gonna take one big 'ol amp (in addition to all your other speakers). ------------------ Two Channel System: Klipsch Fortes (1988) Jolida 202a Rega Planet Denon DP 3000 tt (Stax tonearm; Grado Gold cart.)
  4. If no one said it yet, her are a pair of Cornwalls: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1356952866 ------------------ Two Channel System: Klipsch Fortes (1988) Jolida 202a Rega Planet Denon DP 3000 tt (Stax tonearm; Grado Gold cart.)
  5. Colin, I nabbed one of those oiled walnet acads on audioreview for 365.00. The seller of those two oiled walnut acads at audioreview posted them on May 19. No joke, I got this speaker (found the listing abyway) by Google'ing "Klipsch Academy" on May 25. Lucky on that one! 6. and sometimes the most obvious answers are right in front of your face...thanks michael, i honestly did miss one of the easiest solutions. HDBR, what is your preferred brand of oil or other wood conditioning product?? By the way, thanks for the responses guys! ------------------ Two Channel System: Klipsch Fortes (1988) Jolida 202a Rega Planet Denon DP 3000 tt (Stax tonearm; Grado Gold cart.)
  7. To HDBR or anyone that can help, I have a pair of fortes and cornwalls both with oiled walnut finish. The problem is I live in a largely un- air conditioned apt. What can I do to my speakers to preserve them during the upcoming hot and vey humid summer weather? Thanks! ------------------ Two Channel System: Klipsch Fortes (1988) Jolida 202a Rega Planet Denon DP 3000 tt (Stax tonearm; Grado Gold cart.)
  8. HDBR, 1. Cornwalls (and psuedo-Heritage Fortes which I love for the same reason as the cornwalls). 2. 27 3. 27 4. My first Klipsch speakers were the promedia 5.1s. That brought me to this website, which led to the 2 channel forum, which led to the heritage series several months later. As HDBR accurately predicted in the 2 channel forum debate (RF-7 vs. Cornwall) the cheaper computer klipsch were my foot in the door. Now that I have been introduced to the product by Klipsch and their marketing fiends who decided to infiltrate the pc world and educated by the knowlegeable consumers who come to these forums, I am a dedicated consumer of the Klipsch line (Heritage in particular!) 5. Sure...If I could I would keep goin' up (K-Horns in the living room, Heresy in the bathroom), but a guy's gotta know when to not push his girlfriend too far. 6. Ummmm...sure. But this is coming froma guy who is admittedly more invested in the Klipsch product than the mystique of PWK. I know that it may be perfectly ridiculous to try to delineate these two "things," I'm just trying to say that I'm buying the Jubilee (in my hypothetical I have a truckload of money world) because they sound good not b/c they have the "Heritage" stamp of approval. Take this with a grain of salt, however, as I am also the same guy that believes his fortes are Heritage b/c they are heavy, wooden, and came from *gasp* the 80s. ------------------ Two Channel System: Klipsch Fortes (1988) Jolida 202a Rega Planet Denon DP 3000 tt (Stax tonearm; Grado Gold cart.)
  9. It is interesting that this question is close enough to spark such a debate when you consider that within the last few months I have constructed a heritage ht - cornwall fronts, forte surrounds, and an academy center("heritage-like" ht for those who do not count fortes as part of the heritage group) for about the same price as new RF-7's. Granted, price may not factor into everyone's response to this question, nor should it, but it factors into mine. Answer = Cornwalls. ------------------ Two Channel System: Klipsch Fortes (1988) Jolida 202a Rega Planet Denon DP 3000 tt (Stax tonearm; Grado Gold cart.)
  10. Thanks to all for your help and excellent suggestions. Now, of course, the problem is too many good places to buy, and not enough $$$...cursed habit. ------------------ Two Channel System: Klipsch Fortes (1988) Jolida 202a Rega Planet Denon DP 3000 tt (Stax tonearm; Grado Gold cart.)
  11. I'm looking for some rec.s on an internet site to buy new vinyl...classical to jazz to rock. Any suggestions on a site with a wide selection? ------------------ Two Channel System: Klipsch Fortes (1988) Jolida 202a Rega Planet Denon DP 3000 tt (Stax tonearm; Grado Gold cart.)
  12. my trusty jolida 202a has started to let off alittle static when i adjust the volume. any ideas as to what causes this or solutions?? This message has been edited by kev313 on 05-13-2002 at 10:25 PM
  13. OK...looking for a new cd player. I am familiar with the raves for the old rega, but has anyone had the opportunity to compare it to the new planet?
  14. Justin, are you saying that you like your senn's but don't want to get an hp amp? You could get a small, portable hp amp for around $100 and keep the senns. I use my grado's as my all purpose hp's..even portable (discman to hp amp to grado's). The amp is small, about the size of a pack of cigarettes.
  15. Nothing beats the detail of the Grado Sr80's...except the price. Under $100. Check out http://headroom.headphone.com/layout.php for a good hp selection and a pretty helpful staff. This message has been edited by kev313 on 02-11-2002 at 05:07 PM
