  1. The first LF-10 I had leaked around one of the passive drivers. I'm sure that I could've fixed it w/ a little silicone myself, but I opted to let Klipsch fix it. The one that they sent me didn't have any problems. If it leaked, I'd have had a silicone party of my own and just fixed the damn thing the easy and fast way. ------------------ klf-30 front klf-c7 center rp-3 rear lf-10 sub Denon avr-3300 Denon DVD-2500 Denon DCM-270 cd Mitsubishi 55" ws tv
  2. To get everything possible out of your LF-10, make sure that you use a splitter so that you can get the LFE signal from the receiver to both of "line in" attachments on the sub. This will give it a pretty good boost as opposed to running it to only one of them. If you are really ambitious you could use a third splitter and get it to the LFE input on the sub as well. That is how I found mine to work best. Good luck. ------------------ klf-30 front klf-c7 center rp-3 rear lf-10 sub Denon avr-3300 Denon DVD-2500 Denon DCM-270 cd Mitsubishi 55" ws tv

    RP5s

Yes Jeff, There are two different speakers on any pair of powered towers that I'm aware of. Each of the two towers should have a sub facing in opposite directions so you can face them at opposite walls so that they don't interfere with the bass played by eachother. That's too bad you've had problems w/ UBid. I've purchased all of my speakers and most of my other audio equipment from them w/o too many problems. When I got my rp3's from them, it took them a month to finally get them shipped to me. During that time I never got a straight answer from them as to why I hadn't received them yet. They have really great prices and usually quick shipment, but if there is a problem good luck getting a quick or straight answer from anybody there. Good luck getting the problem straightened out, and I'm sure that when you do you'll have a great sounding pair of speakers. The rp3's sound pretty good, so I could only imagine what the 5's would sound like! ------------------ klf-30 front klf-c7 center rp-3 rear lf-10 sub Denon avr-3300 Denon DVD-2500 Denon DCM-270 cd Mitsubishi 55" ws tv
  4. As far as powered towers go, I just got a pair of rp-3's and I'm really happy with their sound. They really have more low punch than my klf-30's do, but won't play nearly as loud. If you are looking for a speaker that will play loud w/o very much power, I don't think that the klf series can be beat, but I'd guess that isn't what you dad would be looking for. The rp-3's are one of the better sounding speakers that I've heard at low volumes though because of the powered sub built in. I got them from UBid for $750 (shipping included), which they are surely worth. To run these towers well, they do need to be hooked up to a LFE or a sub output on a receiver (at least from what I've found). This would leave you in the same boat as you were when thinking about a good set of towers w/ a separate sub, looking for a new receiver. I don't think that you'd go wrong w/ any Klipsch speaker, at least not any that I've ever heard. ------------------ klf-30 front klf-c7 center rp-3 rear lf-10 sub Denon avr-3300 Denon DVD-2500 Denon DCM-270 cd Mitsubishi 55" ws tv
  5. I recently got a pair of rp-3's from UBid and haven't had any problems with them. The only thing I really don't like about the speakers is that the sub amp will "clip" if you play really loud music on them. You'll also need a good deal of sub cable to hook them up to the sub output on your reciever. Other than that, they are great sounding speakers. Enjoy. ------------------ klf-30 front klf-c7 center rp-3 rear lf-10 sub Denon avr-3300 Denon DVD-2500 Denon DCM-270 cd Mitsubishi 55" ws tv
  6. I bought a pair of rp-3's a couple of months ago, and am running the sub on them from the subwoofer out-on my Denon AVR-3300 to the LFE in on each speaker. I just split the output on the back of my reciever with a y, so both subs are playing the same sounds. If that matters to you and you want them to play their respective channel lows, then you'll need to use the line outs on the reciever. The only thing that I don't like about running the rp-3's how I am is that the only way to limit the output of the subs is to turn the sub out on my receiver down, which also cuts back on any other sub hooked up to the system. If anybody has an idea for getting around this, I'd be interested, as they will clip out when listening to music really loud. As far as running a jumper between the binding posts, it shouldn't be necessary. The multiple posts (high, low) are for hooking them up to a separate amp (one for high, one for low).

    Lf10

Thanks for the info ed. Yesterday I sent an e-mail about the level of service that I felt I was receiving, and they promptly responded with a ra #. Hopefully they'll fix it as fast as they responded once I let them know how I felt. I'm interested to see how a working LF-10 sounds, as the subs in my rp-3 towers sound pretty decent w/ a 440 watt amp.

    Lf10

I also recently bought a LF-10 sub from Ubid and am having some problems w/ it. Has anybody heard of some of these subs having problems w/ very little output from the amp? Even when I have both the gains on it up all of the way and the sub output on my Denon AVR-3300 I still can hardly hear it over my KLF-30's. It also has a detectable air leak around one of the passive radiators. So far, Klipsch hasn't been of any help on getting some warrenty work done on it. Any ideas besides keep bothering them until they decide to fix it.....
