  1. I have an H/K 500 and just recently upgraded to the AVE 520. I have been VERY satisfied with this Receiver and I believe the AVR 320 has most of the same features howbeit less RMS power; however with the speakers you are using it will be way more than enough even with future Klipsch Speaker upgrades - IMO
  2. Holy mackrel Batman, I suppose I could also use the (500) to make a 6.1 system out of the (520).
  3. Well, actually my sub is powered (KSW 12). I was actually attempting to hook the surrounds and center to one (500) and the mains and sub to the other (520). This way I could have a dedicated amplifier for plain stereo if I wanted to. I believe the H/K 520 has adjustable crossovers in it; whereas, the 500 are fixed.
  4. May seem like a stupid question, but, I am getting my new H/K AVR 520 shortly and am replacing my AVR 500. I had heard that some say it is good to use (2) amps to drive the speakers. Not so much LF & HF but for power sake. I.e. drive the surrounds & woofer with one and the mains and center with the other. I would use, of course, the pre-amp section in the 520. Is this doable and am I gaining anything? If doable then how?
  5. To Mobile Homeless: Just curious as to why you say HK is a major stumbling block? Thanks for your input
  6. Is there any decent preamps out there for around #100.00 based on the following criteria: Dual 1257 Tuntable w/ULM tonearm Ortofon OM10 Super Cartridge Going into HK AVR Receiver Tape inputs I did purchase one of those $20.00 jobbers and got nothing but a bad hummmmmm. I am presently using an older Sony receiver Phono inputs going to the Tape In in the HK. No hum, but I would rather not have to use that big thing if you know what I mean. Thanks.
  7. I do indeed have a sub working. I might give it a try. Thanks +
  8. Well of course your all correct and I am surprised I didn't realize that. I just hate those speakers sticking out in the small room that I have.
  9. In my small room I have the RFs away from the wall approximately 1.5 ft. I would like to move them closer to the wall and was thinking that maybe I could jury rig an extended port to go through the wall to the back room. This would be about a 6" throw through a drywall into an open room behind. I would use some PVC tubing and connect with rubber cenment to the port. What do you think. Is this doable? JohnB
  10. To the sides is no problem. slightly behind no go. Besides these babies are huge.
  11. OOPs, forgot that I didn't have the port room behind the speaker. Looks like RS -3IIs is the answer; however, how much will I miss not being able to put slightly behind my ears?
  12. I have the RF -3II and RC-3II currently and am using the quintets for the surrounds. I am now ready to do battle with new surrounds. I have no space behind my sweet spot because the couch is against the wall. the room is only 13 x 13 so moving the couch in is out of the question. Because I have to mount on the sides would I maybe be better off going with a more directional speaker i.e. RB-3IIs vs the RS-3IIs. Thanks
  13. This is all very excellent information. For know I will have to state with the center I have. Also it is all built into the wall and unless the C1 is exactly the same size I would be in trouble hacking the wall apart. My better half will already be very blaslitic (sp) with this additional cost. Couple additional ?s Would I still set the fronts to SMALL on the receiver? Is there any other way to mount to wall without the added expense of the hangers you recommended? Thanks for you patience with me.
  14. I am using the Quintets for the front and they are reasonably good (as long as you have a sub which I do in the KSW 12). Would the 1.1's be an upgrade over the quintets or about the same?
  15. My sub no longer seems to turn on/off automatically so I have to leave on 24/7. So far no problemos. Does anyone see future problems or how about a fix on the auto without having to pack it up and ship it in. Thanks,
