I think you'll be OK.
I prefer McIntosh amps on mine.
I have also used a cheap Chi-Fi tube amp (Gemtune X-1) that sounded pretty good with them too.

I found another correct unit here on KF, so the plastic ones will go in a drawer for future needs. The originals look so much better.

I conversed with the owner of the one in Boston. It is untested, and by the looks of the photos, not in great shape. Also, it is located in the heart of Boston - a very unpleasant place to pick something up.

Private sale from Audiokarma. In almost new shape, but arrived DOA; it was just dirty contacts on the power relay (which my other now is acting like too). Came with a new mahogany case as well.

Well, it took almost a year, but I found one.

OK, I bought the set off eBay. They were not originals and did not match well at all. I swapped them onto my La Scalas and use the LS on the CW. That works.

Dang. I hate holes - especially on these as re-veneering will be tricky.

Hmm, missed the holes. I'll ask to see if that is what they are or if they are part of the grain.

Not mine. I am tempted to pick these up, but with La Scalas and Cornwalls, what the heck would I do with them? Seems a pit pricey to me as well.

I'm not giving up on the La Scalas, I love them in the living room - they are going nowhere. I have also rebuilt them completely - they are like new and perform very well. I run a Mac amp with the variable loudness on it - just set the loudness up a touch to boost the bass and the La Scalas sound fantastic. They are my "home theater" setup (as a 2.0 configuration) and I just marvel at how great they sound with TV and movies.
I must admit, if a speaker is not part of the Heritage line, I shun it. No good reason for it. Now that you mention the Chorus, I'll have to pay more attention to the "newer" models.

I do prefer the bass, but it seems less "horny" than the La Scalas were.
Anyhow, I can't wait to have some quality listening time with them

Well, the smaller midrange helps in the room the CWs are in.
I'll rephrase: I think I like them better than my La Scala's in my library.

Although the originals were "flipped", they did not look like that.
Looks like an experiment that either failed or was too hard to replicate a second time.
