Originally I got these because one of the OEM woofers had a buzz from time to time. I saw other members had used them and were happy so I thought I would give them a go. They work great and as you all described, more punchy and with authority for sure. At the same time I had built & installed a set of OEM based xovers from scratch with much better quality parts. Also a set of a55g mids were added.
I then got curious how much the xover itself helped the sound so I decided to put all of the the OEM parts back in to re-establish a baseline again.
Then I had a stretch where money was tight so I put the woofers up for sale but they never sold. And if I could not get my price then the money issue at that time would not be resolved.
BTW, I had solved the buzz in the one k31. It turned out the outer plastic ring was the cause – a few of the four mounting screw holes were a bit “soft”. That was addressed with the wood glue/toothpick method posted here on the board and that solved it..
.
Now today having a set of La Scala's in the house I have moved my focus to them. So the Ciare are still for sale but I can still re install them at some point if they do not sell.

Like willland said above - they are two different speakers. Owning both I prefer the klf-30s over the forte IIs. But by no means would I say the forte IIs are not as good, just different. The only drawback (if we had to chose) would be that the forte IIs can be sensitive to placement.

Bob Crites son is at the helm now so I still buy directly from Crites

The tweeter horn will not gain anything with sound deadener. I can not say the same for the mid horn as I have forte IIs and that horn is well braced as it is. As for bracing the cabs – I am in the camp that a little is OK, don't put half a lumber yard in here.

I should add I had the exact same issue with the OEM xovers in a pair of klf-30s. I ended up just building xovers from scratch based off the OEM schematic.

The diaphragms kind of work or they don't in my experience. There may be a possibility that the horn/driver mounting nut(s) got loose some how. But I would look into the caps in the xovers if that proved not to be the case.

I haven't looked recently but Crites has/had offered the OEM aluminum diaphragms for the cf3/4s

Curious, what is the typical voltage range at the headphone jack compared to what most amps expect? My first thought is the voltage would be lower requiring one to crank the amp up higher than normal. Am I right or wrong?
And what about impedance?
