AH, Keyword REFURB.

Take a cheap little receiver with you if you are close and test drivers for uniformity. He's moving.... He'll deal.

He could try that and if it stayed on, thermal would again be my go to. But he is gokgn to want to run everything at once in the end.... Since it technically functions and prices are down.... Might make sense to sell it and upgrade to something of similar price point.... If the levels of the drivers arent different, I wouldn't suspect driver damage.... Maybe it was run too hard at some point and the caps sustained damage perhaps? Not entirely sure.

Bump price drop.

If he has other speakers to swap in perhaps and see if the problem can be duplicated. Or, put a fan on it and sees if it stays on which would clearly point in the thermal direction to me.
-
Are the impedance of the speakers compatible with the unit? Do they have very low dips in impedance for certain frequencies? Does the amp get very hot? Does it play for awhole before it shuts down? More info needed.

Looks about right from my experience

UPS has destroyed three large and expensive pair of speakers for me now, well packed also! I felt bad for the shippers. Fedex for me, specifically fedex freight, not one by comparison.

Old red, those came out nice, strong work. You two have both given me great ideas and I think I might tackle this little project

Curious on this one myself. Would like to see pics if someone has done this and it came out looking pretty good.

Agreed Ironman

Even a solid Styrofoam in the middle that slides over woiel help well with thicket cardboard. I have seen other manufacturers do that with solid results. There has be be support somewhere in the middle/sides. Heavy items, pallets only Def.

That was sarcasm buddy come on now? OBVIOUSLY things get damaged all the time as the recent posts will confirm. I myself have had several pair of speakers DESTROYED in shipping, not just damaged.
-
Same as last post, send them back. Shipping services are super careful about heavy and delicate items. Alway have been, always will be. The next pair you get will more than likely not have the same damage.
-
Haven't tried that but I will I suppose. I myself am finding them to be very picky, probably as they don't have much space to breath as is.

If they don't sell, I certainly wouldn't be unhappy with them whatsoever. I don't care what the wife says about their size. Women and shopping.... Enough said.....

So I decided to give the Cornwall III a fair shot in my room. I hadn't spent the proper amount of time with positioning them and was using mediocre gear at the time with them. WOW, they have come alive. They don't quite have the perfect balance of the heresys to my ears in my room as I am quite limited on their placement. But they Def sound as big as they physically are and have killer bass when pulled away from the wall a foot for me. My question is, comparing Forte iii to Cornwall III in the same room with the same gear, can someone give me your input of the differences to your ears, pro and cons? The Forte III would Def fit in here better and more than likely give me the bass response I am looking for. Thanks.
