  1. Noticed this in the "Want Ads" at work. Klispch KSW-12 440 Watt Subwoofer....$250 Contact MAMACMIL@Hewitt.com
  2. Have you considered something smaller like a pair of Quintets?? If wall mounting is an issue. I also have the 3802 with KLF-30's/C-7 up front and KLF-10's for surrounds. Currently using a small set of KLH monitors mounted to the wall behind the couch and the sound is excellent. There does not seem to be a huge amount of sound from the back channel in 99% of the DVD's out, perhaps because it's matrixed in the receiver and not true 6.1/7.1. My experience has been that direct radiating sound great, and Timbre matching has NOT been an issue. Happy Listening...Mike
  3. There should be a setting in your DVD player's set-up section. I believe you need to choose PCM/bitstream, but verify in your manual.
  4. Thanks Craig! I plan on getting another set of 30's or 20's for the rears, then I'll move the 10's to the back channel. Current HT room does not allow room for that so no hurry. Can't wait to finish my sub and start rewatching all the great bass/action movies. You have a very nice set-up. I was ready to purchase the same SVS subs, then I started reading the HomeTheaterForum. I'm kind of a DIY guy anyway, so the idea of building a sonotube sub really appealed to me. For a reference point the one I'm building will outperform 2 of the CS Ultra's for about 1/2 the cost. But the best part, after shaking some internal organs loose, is telling my friends that "I" built it. I'm not very familiar with the KSP-S6 surrounds, but know that they're VERY sought after, what makes them so desireable?? Thanks again...Mike
  5. About 4 weeks ago I decided it was time to upgrade my current JBL set-up to some Legends. Did a little e-bay shopping and picked up a set of 30's that arrived last week. Found a pair of 10's only an hour away, so drove down and picked them up during lunch. Also landed a new C-7 about 45 minutes away. Pays to live near Chicago I guess. Hooked up the 30's last night and the sound was unbelievable. Totally kick *** on everything I listened to; rock, techno, old school rap, etc... When I first was carrying them in my wife had a VERY disgusted look on her face. Where the hell are you putting those things. I quickly hooked them up and played some music. She said they sounded good, but are they really better than the JBL towers. I picked one of her favorite techno songs and cranked it up VERY loud. Her face broke into a huge smile and she totally understood. Yep, she's a keeper! Tonight I got the 10's in place as rear surrounds and set up the C-7 on the TV. Tried a few movie scenes and it was amazing, MUCH better than being at a theater. The parts for my sonosub will be here late next week, so that's next. I'm saving all the good movies until it's done. I'll be sure to post a few pics of it. Dual Tempest 15's with the Hypex 500 watt amp in a 28" x 53" tube. Tuned to 16.5hz. Should be good down to the low teens and capable of 120+ decibels. Just wanted to share my enjoyment. Klipsch rules!!! Happy LOUD & CLEAN listening...Mike
  6. It's a spike with a foot that slips over it for hardwood floors. I did try calling a several times and never get through. I'll keep trying. Yes they are KLF-10's. Sound great! Thanks...Mike
  7. I bought a used pair of KLF-10's a few weeks ago and one of the feet/cones is missing. I e-mailed and called a few times last week, but have not received any response. What do I need to do to order one?? TIA...Mike
  8. The 3802 will also do 6.1, you just run the back center left channel. I've been very happy with that receiver. I have a pair of small KLH monitors attached to the wall behind the speaker and it does make BIG difference. During JPIII you are TOTALLY surrounded by sound and feel like you're in the middle of the action. Since I listen to a lot of club music I also enjoy the 7 channel stereo option, although my neighbors might not
  9. If you only wanted to change the mains the 3802 lets you set the Mains to Large + LFE with all others set to small. I plan on trying this when I get the KLF-30's up front...Mike
  10. Unfortunately I can't really comment on the remote for my 3802 as I don't use it. Once I pop in a DVD and crank it up I sit back and enjoy!!
  11. Someone on the HomeTheaterForum did mention glueing 2 of them together for larger drivers, so perhaps these could work. Still want to hear from someone who as actually seen/used the Klipsch version. How do they compare in size??
  12. The BluePrint drivers also have some pretty huge magnets and baskets, but they require a LOT of power to make them play loud and also require an EQ to tame them. The Tempest's fortay seems to be "most bang for the buck" as they don't require a lot of power and if you follow Adire's alignments you normally don't need any EQ'ing. There's a West Coast guy who recently won a major car audio competition using 2 15" Tempests. Hit something like 155+ SPL. AMAZING!! Just got a note from Adire and looks like my Tempests/Amp will ship on Monday!!! Been waiting for almost 2 months, but will be worth the wait. Take care...Mike
  13. I shopped around for a few months and compared specs on several receivers. I ended up with the 3802 as I got in on-line for around $725 shipped. It has all the features I wanted/needed and has been a great addition to my mid-fi system. I think you'd be very happy with it. Obviously everybody has there favorite, but at least we ALL agree on the BEST speakers I added a couple of small KLH's to the back center channel for 7.1 and it sounds amazing. Completely encompassed by sound. During JPIII it sounded/felt like the dino's were running through the house!! HTH....Mike P.S. The 3802 is 110wpc into an 8ohm load. 150wpc is for a 6ohm load.
  14. I've heard the Klipsch magnets are about $125 a set. For Boa or anyone else who has installed them, how do they compare to the ones from Parts Express?? www.partsexpress.com search for part# 249-325 These almost seem too inexpensive to work, but ya never know. TIA...Mike
  15. Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I guess when it comes to horns...Mikey's like it!! My current JBL set-up is G500 towers (dual 8"s) for fronts and surrounds and an S-center, plus the small KLH's for the back center channel. My room is 16'x22' and they put out plenty of sound to fill it. Current sub is an AudioSource 12". At -6 on the 3802 my youngest sons would tremble and my cats would run for cover. Wait until the Klipsch's are in the house!!! I will be sure to post some pics of the sonosub during/after construction. Amp is still on back-order from Germany. I'm going with the Hypex HS500 and dual Tempests. For more info check out the Adire website. HornEd......you sure have a thing for those 30's Of course once I hear mine I may start rounding up a few more pair also. Boa...I love my music VERY loud and the thing about the 20's I auditioned that impressed me the most was that no matter how loud I played them, they were crystal clear. I can only imagine that the 30's will be as good or better. Happy listening...Mike
  16. Also the Tempests move a LOT of air and are "very efficient"....sound like another speaker we know??? That's why I'm putting 2 into my DIY sonsosub. Take care...Mike
  17. I've been following the forum on/off for the past few months. After auditioning a pair of KLF-20's last summer at Tweeter I knew horns were for me. I've had a JBL system for several years and was very happy with it, but the urge to move to horns was too tempting. I picked up a C-7 a few weeks ago, and during lunch today drove to Indiana to pick up a pair of KLF-10's. Also won a bid on a pair of KLF-30's which should be here next week sometime. E-bay can be a pain, but so far has come through for me. Prices were VERY good on everything. For now I'll run the 30's/C-7 up front with the 10's as rears and use my small wall-mounted KLH's for the back channel. Eventually I plan on going with 20 or 30's for the rear surrounds and move the 10's to the back channel. Should be a killer set-up. Receiver is a 3802 and I'm in the process of building a sonsoub....DIY sub with dual 15's and 500watt amp. Will go below 15hz and should be in the high 120's SPL. Looking forward to sharing and learning on this forum. Happy listening...Mike
