  1. Well, fans have magnets too, and I have an aquarium pump inside my case running my cooling system, so it must not be a problem for HDDs. The steel should shield it too I think. Sounds good.
  2. I wanted to know if the Promedia 4.1 sub can interfere with a hard drive inside a thick steel case at a distance of roguhly a half foot or so. I'm thinking of putting my sub on the floor next to my case, that's why I ask.
  3. I was surprised at Christmas with a set of PM4.1s and my brother 2.1 refurbs. Neither had any aesthetic defects and were fully functional. Had them two and a half months mow and am very pleased with them. I was a little skeptical about 6.5" midwoofs for bass drivers, but they perform nicely. More detailed highs than my Monsoon MM700s also. That port on the sub pumps some serious air when cranked up! I'll be enjoying these for a long time until I can build my own speakers.
  4. I've got a pair of refurbs, and been using them for 2 months now. They work great. No physical blemishes and pump out some sound!
  5. Ah. The website must have been messed up yesterday. They weren't posted. I know the 2.1s aren't sold anymore. Any idea on when they ceased to be sold as refurbs?
  6. I noticed that the Promedias are not being offered refurbed any more? Does anyone know when the 2.1s were stopped being sold and the 4.1s? Thanks.
  7. What is the most neutral position for the flattest frequency response for the bass anyway?
  8. Another option is to get some tuner cleaner for electronic instruments. They should be plastic safe. I had dust get inside my Monsoon volume control and now works like a charm.
  9. How will it make my situation worse? Is it just the sound transmitting through the floor because of the non directionality of the sub sounds? Or the increased bass transmitting as a result of the spikes? You're saying that spikes won't isolate the sounds from the floor if I read correctly. I like my speakers to have a neutral sound, and I don't like to turn the sub higher, not to mention lowering the bass level.
  10. I am considering getting a Refurbed 4.1 set, and don't really have the desk space for the sub. If I put it on the floor, well, my manager lives directly below me . Both good and bad. I've heard about spikes put on subwoofers to isolate them from the floor and supposedly improve frequency response. Would this help to isolate a subwoofer from transmitting sound to the floor better? I have no doubt that the Promedias can shake the floor as well as the walls.
