  1. William G To tell you the truth I'm afraid to try it. LOL If I do I'll report the findings.
  2. It must be quite taxing dealing post from the inexperienced. All of you know, I, as other are Thankful for this forum. Today I went to an upper end audio store and checked out a $1,000.00 Rotel power amp. The RB-1080, 100 watts x 2 ch. (To keep for three days.) Just give them a credit card and check it out like a library book. As forcasted, basically all the power amp did was increased the volume. But with my untrained ear I probably missed some of the finer enhancements. The increased performance of 200 Rotel watts, would only be worth about $250.00. This is not to say I wouldn't ever invest in a power amp, just that the 200 watt amp did not boost the sound enough to justify the cost, nor did it create low bass. So the Yamaha RX-V3000 seems exceptable or sufficient, to run RF-7s , as HornED has already confirmed. This a learning curve for sure. TheEAR, Boa, Deang, avmman, & HornED are all going to be correct with there diagnosis. I need A KICK *** SUB, OR TWO. Now that we have successfully deduced the problem down to an inadequate sub. Additional input from the Klipschters will be respectfullly requested, on which sub woofer to get the job done. Two SVS's? (Are these SVS's 12"in) (The SVS's would be a pain to return.) And these SVS subs offer a power amp with them as well. Is this amp necessary? OR One RSW 15"? (Could buy this local) and could trade in my existing sub for $425.00 credit towards the new sub. OR ????
  3. I was told by the local Klipsch dealer that the RF-7s are not built to produce great low bass????????? That the crossovers in the RF-7s are set, which means the system depends totaly on the sub woofer to produce low end bass. I'm going to check out a Rotel power amp, for a few days. There is a Audio store here that will allow equipment to be check out for a day or so.
  4. So hooking up (one) speaker to both Lf Ch. A + Lf Ch. B Ch on the recv. and then turning on both A+B ch, will not hurt the speakers or the Receiver? Nor will this double the power sent to the speaker?
  5. The kind of bass that can push you back in your seat.
  6. Avman I think you may be correct, because the local Klipsch dealer says the cross overs in the RF-7s are not set for bass? The Klipsch dealer said to invest in a better sub woofer first. Also as you and HornED have both stated, the Yamaha 3000 has enough power, especially with such a sinsitive speaker as the RF-7 is at 102db. Of coarse a power amp would help, but for BASS. Upgrading the sub, (Velodyne 1012) first would be wiser. Then go for the power amp. I how come expensive speakers fail to put out good bass. Could my expectations be to high? I spent the extra money upgrading the RF-3II to the RF-7s for more bass, But I don't hear a 1,000.00 difference?
  7. Currently my 2 RS-7s are hanging off a large wood screw, set into a STUD. So far no trouble. But... I'm going to build two nice shelves out of 3/4 Burch Ply wood, 40.00$ for 4x8x3/4. Shoot and glue some type of 3/4 trim detail to cover the raw ply wood edge. Will support the shelves with some type of renforced metal brackets. Lowes has a nice selection of metal brackets. Maybe a screw /w a shelf, would be the way to hang an investment such as the RF-7s.
  8. I was inquiring, running two separate sets of speaker wire.. One pair from B left and another pair from A left to the same set of post on the left speaker. Same thing on the right for the right speaker. Thinking I would get 100 watts from A + 100 watts from the B = 200 watts?
  9. Is it healthy for a speaker to be hooked up to both A and B channels, ? Twice the power from left anf right A and B channels ran to both mains? Is this bi wiring? LOL
  10. Boa, Have been keeping all speaker settings on large and lfe on both. One would think 2-$800.00 10" inch woofers would deliver plenty of boom. Suppose this is where my more information & education with speakers is needed. It is true, the level of bass is infuenced by how the cd played has been recorded. Some have good bass others do not. When playing cd's that have bass, just not strong bass, I am hoping a power ammp will help bring out, or amplify the exsisting bass. But if you think I should go shopping for sub first, then A sub first. I'll spend sometime changing the speaker settings & playing with the sub. I have done this before with the RF-3IIs before trading them In for the RF-7s. Maybe I'm expecting to much bass, or the wrong type of bass from these RF-7s? Do you know about these Rotel power amps from Audio Port. There cheapest one cost 1,200.00. I still may check one out for the weekend. All I need is a credit card and they said I could sample one for a day or so.
  11. Hey Boa, I have been boucen off the EARS, what power amp to invest in, in order to gain some bass. Thinking the 1505, or 2505. Then we'll see how the amp improves the bass. Should the power amp does not produce pounding bass, hummmmm it should? Then an investment in a SVS ultra sub may be made. Surely a 2505 would bring out more than enough BASS. I'd like to bring a amp home, try it out before I buy. Audio Port said they would check out a rotelt to me for a few days. Audio Port has all the high, high, end speakers..... 10,000.00 25,0000.00 pr. Saw your other post, wouldn't pass up the offer to pre-veiw your system. Westwood is its own well established area by Mission Hills, South of SHW PKWY? Is the RX-V3000 a low current receiver? Shopping for audio equipment is hard *a* work. Finding people in the audio stores who know, has been a knedle in a hay stack. Thanks to You All for this Forum
  12. Yes of coarse the Volume (control) knob. I better get some self (control) while I can still hear. This system does sound nice. Wonder if the power amp would allow more sound with less volume as to save Vonrebles hearing?

  14. Horn and Ears, With all those speakers and power surrounding the TV. Can the TV handle all that vibration? I usually turn the volume up around 27 to 17 for few tracks, then back to 30 min - 27 max. Then wait for my ears to stop ringing. I have a 51 inch panasonic and when cranking just the two mains (RF-7s) the whole TV screen vibrates. Wonder if that will destroy the insides of the TV?? HornEd Are you saying RF-7s and KLF-30s with the right power source can meet min. dolby standards. 121.5db ? and are you taking new speaker apart and rebuilding them? Yamaha RX-V3000 RF-7s RS-7S RC-7 Velodyne 1012 sub Panasonic 51 HDTV Sony NS400D DVD Sony VHS Technics CD and Dbl cassete Audio Source EQ
  15. Spoke to Klipsch, hoping to receive new sticker, soon.
  16. TheEAR Thanks for posting this information, so I can now show those around me I am not the only one with goals and vision. (Photos) Rock on EARs!!
  17. Although new to home audio, I did have the complete RF-3II speaker pakage hooked up, powered by a Yamaha RX-v620. This set up was just okay. Nothing less would due. Latter I upgraded the receiver to a Yamaha RX-V1200 trying to gain stronger bass, better sound, more power. Difference, but not huge. Upgraded one more time to the Yamaha RX-V3000. This was a Night and day difference. Still not happy with the sound at high volumes. Out of frustration, I scraped up all loose change, emptied a savings account, and just went for the best Klipsch had to offer and bought the RF-7s. I didn't really understand how good these speakers were up until recently. They are 2 ch Rock and Rollers, for HT clean, loud and full sounding. With the RF-7s for mains I tried to made due with the RC-3II for a center and the RS-3IIs for the rears but "I'm to picky" so I scraped up more change, sold the cat and traded infor the RC-7 and the RS-7s. Now I am happy and joyous and my ears hurt. I could, through the RX-V3000 receiver make adjustments to the main speakers to reduce the power sent to RF-7s, then increasine the power (a little) to the RC-3II and the RS-3IIs to help balance out the sound. In the end (It was very close), alot of trouble, and still not a great match. If I hadn't had the extra cash, I could have lived with the RF-7s with the RC-3II and the RS-3IIs for a while. But I am picky. Maybe for normal folks it may have been fine. But for me I went for the best. Not enough difference for the money so I didn't really consider the RF-5s. Went right for the RF-7s. Hope this helps. Did I say My ears Hurt, TO: TheEAR & HornEd I don't see how you two can hear at all? LOL
  18. TheEAR WOW I'm speachless, no I'm not, wait here you go, "My name is TheEAR and I am an Audio-holic" LOL You most definitely have your self a serious investment. Get a camera. Your neighboors must either hate or love you. I to see myself in the distant future standing up and stating my name too.
  19. TheEAR Thanks for the info and the Web addresses. We have a few good choices of amps to pick from. My first thought is to go for the 5 ch, but this may be money wasted as the Yamaha RX-V3000 seems to have enough push for HT. Investing in a great 2 ch would seem like the better choice, cost wise. Those SVS subs look darn good, damm good. If I was going to buy one sub to go with just the Yamaha, w/no amp? Which one Then, which sub would be best if I had an amp? Hate to but a 2 ch amp, find out how good it sounds and then wish I had a 5 ch amp. Better to have the extra ch and not need then. Or use them. leaning toward the 1505 w/one of those Ultra CS TheEAR, Sounds like you have a kickin set as well. Post a few photos. HornEd, very nice set up!!! impressive as hell. I am truely inspired. Nice curtains too. Rock & Roll Those subs stack neatly. Thanks for all the web addresses. dndphishin Thanks for your info, I hear he name OutLaw alot. I'd like one of everything.
  20. Thanks BobG, For your prompt response. Can I have a new sticker? With the correct watts and S/N? I am exstreamly satisfied with my new RF-7s, and no problem recommending them. In my opinion the RF-7s are worthy of there cost. TextCan I have a new sticker Please?
  21. BobG Thanks for the prompt response and for the good news. I was a bit concerned. Can I get a new Sticker? With the correct S/N and Watts?
  22. TheEAR, Have you heard the RF-7s as well as the RF-5s? This ATI 2505 sounds good, how much does it price out at? or do you have a web address? I thinking I'd like to stay in the $1200.00 range for a power amp. These SVS subs would you by chance have a price on these as well? or a web address?
  23. In order to gain additional hard hitting bass, and claridy, was considering adding a power amp. Trying to gain claridy and bass when playing Metalica, White Zombie, and other pounding rock music. With HT, would like to gain the kind of bass you feel in the bones. Deep Deep Is power amp the right word? or is it pre amp? This will be use for 2 ch music played at high levels and HomeTheater played at moderate to normal levels The Current system is: Yamahas RX-V3000 100 watts x 6 Mains RF-7s Center RC-7 Rears RS-7 Sub Woofer is a Velodyne VLF 1012; maybe Klipsch RSW 15 some day? Room size is 19ft x 12ft This Klipsch/Yamaha system Rocks as is, but I am an exstreamist. This message has been edited by Vonrebel on 03-10-2002 at 08:39 PM
