  1. Still trying to figure out "badges" for these ... PWK or just the plain black "Klipsch" ones." They have cheap (Chinese ) knock-offs on fleaBay. Any thoughts? And ... no clue "what year" these speakers are ... S/N on one is FT456N200110052. Anyone has a clue? Of course, have never seen any of these with grilles. Cheers, Emile
  2. Thanks But will look much better with the grille frame painted black And ... did not even have a glass of wine yet, so can only blame myself OK; going to fire up the chainsaw to cut another grille frame Cheers, Emile
  3. And ... with Heritage grille cloth from Bob Crites. Only part due to 2mb upload limit. Damn ... forgot to paint the grille frame black ... only "really" shows with flash photography Oh well ... was good practice ... next one will be even better (and painted) Anyone have any thoughts what kind of Klipsch badges to put on these ... and on the larger woofer boxes? Thanks, Emile
  4. Hi teaman ... 2nd coat with a smooth roller got it closer to the "original" look ... but not "perfect." But, don't think anyone will notice unless they are looking "up close." Redid the woofer boxes also with the "smooth roller." Pretty good Cheers, Emile
  5. Read the number off the drivers ... awesome!
  6. Yeah; wife's choice So; working on boxes for the horns and grilles for the woofers. Looking pretty good so far Cheers, Emile
  7. OK "dude" ... Thanks; that worked ... plus 3 glasses of wine Cheers, Emile
  8. Yes; seems to "blow away" the 1" tweeters in the "consumer" series. And I've got the B&C DE-78-8 drivers ... which seem to be "preferred." Cheers, Emile
  9. Anyone? Have Cornwall's and tried Khorns ... all with mid and hi range tweeters. But ... these(SINGLE) horns just blow them away. Is it because they are 2" (not sure ... could be 3") diaphragm horns?? Cheers, Emile
  10. got them for $750 OK; $200 extra to make the boxes for the horns and "clean up" the cabinets ... but these are AWESOME ... much better than my Cornwalls's (which I bought new 20+ years ago and would "never sell." ) Even my wife loves the sound of these Check the "reviews." ... I have NO CLUE why/how these two-way speakers ( 2 15" woofers and 2-3" horn - 9x16" ) can sound this awesome Cheers, Emile
  11. Thanks teaman ... I'll let you know how the second coat works out (using a smooth roller). Cheers, Emile
  12. Used "Duralex" as recommended by one of the members (with Parts Express' textured roller). But ... it's a bit more "prominent" than my KPT-904 woofer boxes, so think I'll try to "smooth" it out with a 1/4 nap brush for the second coat. Cheers, Emile
  13. Thanks ... used the "Duratex" with "their" textured roller. Bit more aggressive than my KPT-904 boxes. Think I'll use a "smooth" roller for the second coat. Cheers, Emile
  14. OK; horn boxes are build Just need to sand, paint and make speaker grilles (and also grilles for the woofer boxes). Cheers, Emile
  15. WAF is about 1 out of 10 ... but she loves the sound ... major improvement over my Cornwall's
  16. @rockhound . Thanks a lot! Lot of sound for a 12x12 room ... OK; great for the man cave Thanks for the "no bracket needed" .... think the box will look nicer if I flush-mount the horn. Yes, will use grilles; if you can PM me contact I'd appreciate it. Can probably make some for the horn boxes, but also want to put grilles on the 904 box - which will be a bit harder. What kind of cloth did you use? (Thinking about the classic Heritage cloth which Bob Crites still sells.) Many thanks, Emile
  17. Too old to remember But ... first song I recall (parents played it over and over again) is Edith Piaf's "Non je regrette rien" from 1960. Cheers, Emile
  18. Hi @rockhound . Thanks! Guess I am not the only one who thinks these tweeters are too ugly for a living room ... OK; WAF! My living/tv room is "small" (about 15 x 20 ft), but one side and half the rear is "open" to a 25 x 35 ft area. The 904's will be elevated about a foot ... so the horn will be about 5ft high. Too high? Think I should keep the bracket to "point it down?" Many thanks! Cheers, Emile
  19. OK; decided on "removing" the tweeter and building a small box for it (with DuraTex paint and a grille - main woofer box will get a grille also). Prob 17W x 11H x 11D to "just" fit the horn into it (and throwing away the adjustment bracket). Stupid or??? Main question ... do I enclose the box, or just leave the rear "open?" Many thanks and cheers, Emile
  20. Hi @The Dude. Was there yesterday and saw 3 sets ... did not look closely enough to see the "cracks," but did see one or two which did NOT have any cracks Yes; he only has "one set" listed on eBay. Cheers, Emile
  21. These 904's actually look pretty decent. Think it will cost WAY too much to get them veneered, so think I'll just stick with the "industrial" black look. So; think I'll build a box for the horns. 3 questions ... 1) should I even bother with the angle brackets or just put the driver/horn in a box without it, 2) anyone know where to get this patchy black paint? and 3) any ideas on grilles? Many thanks, Emile
