  1. Yes, I'm also planning on going fully active with HT so I'll definetely be upgrading the crossovers on the way up move the 2496 to the rears and buy a better quality one for the fronts.
  2. Hey Can you also have a look at my 3 new comments about the mics? What would be the bare minimum of quality for the REW mic? I dont mind upgrading in the future to a decent mic, but if I can do with a 30eu (instead of 100) mic then that would come out great.
  3. Would you recommend the the 2496 for someone using an active crossover in a 3-way LaScala project? First time trying it out.
  4. Heu Hey Did you ever buy it? And if so, how did you like it? Did you use it for active 3-way crossovering your Klipschhorn? Can buy a 125euro model, but got to be quick ö
  5. As the person selling me the NAV3600 cant confirm the software as of yet (she is looking into it) I was looking around, and I saw someone using the Behringer DCX 2496 on his Jubilees, I wouuld be able to get this one for a fraction of the price (only 125 euro). Good alternative if the Sabine doesnt work out?
  6. With the intention I just tried to explain? Cool to hear!
  7. What about the power levels? I guess it's best to use the same amp to drive the tweeters or squawker or woofers right? If I read the specs right for my drivers the power output for my woofers are 400 watt 8ohm RMS each... does this mean I can power it with a pro amp like a behriger iNuke to it's full extent to reach extreme bass levels in the LS? Or doesnt it work like this (maybe because it is limited due to its type horn loaded bass bin ? Or because it would be a too big discrepancy between the sensitivity of the woofer and the squawker and tweeter )? Not really needing to do it like that, but those iNuke amps do not cost much so it wouldnt even be more expensive (probably even less so than a normal amp.). Also when people say tube amps add "a warm sound" to your klipsch.. is this because of it's effect on the more upper ranges? Not the lower ones I'm guessing. So if I'd want to have this effect, I'd only need 2x tube stereo amps and 1 solid state to get the full "tube" sound. I understand I'm guessing in the dark here, and that a lot of my questions might not have (straight) answers, but I'm trying to expand my knowledge everyday so I'm just throwing them out there
  8. Would a mic like this work equally good, or is the miniDSP mic especially outfitted for this kind of tasks: TIE Dynamic Mic USB dynamic USB-microphone.
  9. PS you guys here rock! All sooo helpfull and stuff ps would have really loved to do all this stuff with a Jubilee, but as I'm in Europe it's not within my reach
  10. Whoa, thanks! Loved the (first) article you linked! I think I followed most of what you explained, but as I dont have the Mic at the moment I cant do any real tests.. Could I use the Auddyssey (3,5mm jack) mic I got with my marantz? Maybe as a temporary solution to try out the software?
  11. I'll probably be using a Marantz SR5004 to do the amplification, which means I'll have full control over each channel.
  12. Thanks! I was indeed going to buy me a good microphone. I also have someone who was going to help me out with the PH2380 horn, but will read your articles first
  13. Gonna be a proud LaScala clone with 3-way active crossover owner in a few weeks. First parts will arrive this week, in particular the PH2380 horn, the K-55M drivers and the K77 tweeters. Gonna have to wait a few weeks for the bassbin. As I cant wait to play with the active crossover, I was wondering if it would it be possible (and safe) to disconnect the tweeter and squawker of my Chorus II and use the chorus as a bassbin to use with the K55/K77 combo? Hoping it has a kind of "CornScala" effect.
  14. Also, what would you recommend for amplifiers? In particular, how do I know how much power I require/channel. Do they have to be the same (I'm guessing they do not) or do I have to match the sensitivities? I'm thinking about buying a Dared DV-c6 amp, but it might be cheaper to find 3 pairs of second hand (tube) amps. Does it matter what brands/sound quality and characteristics the different amps have?
  15. Will do! The person who was going to sell me the pair of K-55M I need suddenly backed down.. and the bassbins will have to be build first too. Could take a while Will let you know when I have it up and running! Thanks!
  16. I'm checking the software now. Not really the possibility to buy it and test it though.. Only 375, inlcuding sending which is a decent price considering buying 2 mini DSP is almost as expensive.
  17. What about a Sabine NAV 3600? The owner (an audio company) says it's the same device as the xilica 3060.
  18. Would something like the "Focusrite Saffire PRO 24 DSP audio interface" serve me right enough? Other second hand models I can buy for a good price: EV DX32, Behringer dsp 9024 (or 2xDSP-8024). Or something like 3x iNuke1000DSP amplifiers (it would cut down on the cost of amplifiers). Thanks for the info!
  19. If one was to build a complete 3-way active LaScala, how necessary is it to have time delay in the crossover? And is it OK to use a crossover like the Samson S-3-way?
  20. Hey did you ever build them? I am trying to exactly replicate what you are doing especially the veneering.
  21. Did you ever tests it? I'm ready to mount them, but mounting height depends on horizontal or vertical placement. I persuaded him to allow the wall mounting! I went a little more expensive, but much easier (and adjustable way): PA grade wall mount (35mm) and 35mm screw on adapter (on the heresy). I'll show some pics when I'm done. About the DIY side of my custom heresy Ive decided to put it off for a while (as the heresies will be plenty good for now). Plan is to make the 3-way heresy into a 2 way with K-510 horn and a Faital HF200 driver. That is the same driver which I'm gonna use in the K-402 (LCR) and a matching horn (also used together with the K-402 in klipsch cinema set ups). Crossover will be active. This way I'll have max timbre match for a height channel. Greetings
  22. What would you say is a "matching" woofer? Any woofer that could crossover at the same frequency as the original? Best to match the sensitivity I guess? Or doesnt this matter because I'm going active? And if I do decide to stay passive, what woofer would work with the original xover?
  23. I could mount it like that as you say, but I doubt my rentlord will alow me to hang 4x 25kg speakers on his walls. Does it matter that the are on their sides? And what bracket did you use? The heresy II weighs less, which is why I'm looking for a pair. Was just hoping to make a custom heresy that weighs less AND has the same drivers as the LaScala (which the Heresy II does not). If I go DIY I would also be able to use a K400 horn.
  24. I know I can mount them like that, and I will if I do not find another option. I would like to try to build a smaller, and more importantly lighter, version of the heresy. That setup looks neat though!
  25. Because I want height channels using the same high/mid range drivers as the LaScala. Was maybe even thinking of using the LaScala K-400 (or K-401) for this project. I know it's not completely necessary, but I'm chasing "perfection" so to say.
