  1. I put together a pair of Super Heresy mods (Baby Cornwall?) to my 81 Heresy 1's following Claude's recipe and never looked back. I Used the Eminence Delta Pro 12a woofers, B&C DE120 super tweeters and Dave's MAHL's, rear ports and insulation . Best speaker of it's size I ever heard. Thought I had posted about that, but it looks like I can't find that thread anymore on here. Unfortunately, I had a Sudden Sensineural Hearing loss (i.e.- overnight) around a year and a half ago on one ear, leaving me technically deaf (i.e.- couldn't hear a 130db Jet engine if it was right next to me...). Basically couldn't listen to anything of any sound level more than muted speech, with certain sounds causing a shocking sensation in my brain, like getting zapped by a 60V battery with booster cables attached to my brain. Had to do my work with aviation grade earmuffs... no fun at all. Luckily, that is now tapering off... enabling me to again (finally) listen to my beloved Super Heresy's once in a while on a limited basis, though at present most of my listening is through my Beyerdynamic DT1990Pro headphones. I don't have data to back it up, but Claude's recipe is bang on.
  2. I just finished doing ClaudeJ1 's Super Heresy 2.0 (Baby Cornwall II mod.). Soldered the existing Klipsch wiring directly to my new Tweets and woofers at the speaker terminals. Easy Peasy. On the Eminence 3012HO's, I was appalled at how the little wires to the voicecoil were attached to the banana screw terminals. I just stuck the Klipsch wires through the little hole, bent it over and soldered all of the wires to the metal terminal tabs. Then, used alcohol to get rid of the rosin residue. Cleaned up nicely and they now sound great. I did not change the original terminations on the rear terminal strips. Wasn't going to go there. My leads are tinned however, as mentioned in a previous post.
  3. I don't have anything with tubes left... lol. Lots of LP's / 45 and around 2 dozen 78's. My turntable can do 78's, but don't want to break the needle, as they're not in the best shape. I have a a Symphonium as well, but alas, it no longer turns as it has corroded itself to death.
  4. I used "UHU Hart" (blue box / tube) on both of my K-22 's and they have held up without further delamination.
  5. Dave, those look nice. That set-up isn't too shabby either.
  6. @ClaudeJ1 - Holy Sh*t!. That's some collection, though undoubtedly , only a partial one, I presume?
  7. OK, I have to redo the caps in Heresy1 now. Just ended up working on my old cars starter system. Is it OK to use the old 4/0 here? Guess I'll have to mod the terminal strip though... To my untrained eye & ears, should have low losses, no?
  8. Glad to hear that you like them with the "NewStuff". I'm about to embark on the same journey, albeit using the "E" crossovers. Just waiting for my parts to arrive...
  9. Didn't intend to stir up the nest here... sorry, that was not the intent. It had only occurred to me that black MAHL's would look better behind the black grille. That's what happens when one comes late to the party. Guess I missed a bit of that history. Thanks for filling me in. I can anodize them myself ... or just paint them black. Having worked in the aircraft industry, the know how's there. Your scotchbriting definitely makes the painting easier. Dave, I know what you mean with stocking stuff on spec- been there myself. One can't afford to stock stuff on spec, nor keep them on the shelf. Will send you a PM. All of my speakers are soldered.
  10. @captjoe - where did you find the Kappa' 3012HO Neo's for that price? Am about to start the same project on my 1981 Heresy's ... they're still the "HBR" finish - never been stained nor poly'd yet. Me thinks the MAHL Horn needs to be tweaked a bit @Dave A ... it needs Black Anodize treatment. Like the "Understated" look, not the brash, in your face, here I am kind of thing. I'm sure the sound will speak for itself. Still need to get the MAHL's, but, you don't ship to Canada as per the ebay listing...
