  1. we used a bowling pin as a hammer too often. They good persuaders @3.5lb. Don't drive nail for chit... but so many other places that could use help. We like dealing with machines that way, compared to humans. The hammer is an option
  2. I don't see a hammer ??? that wrench is for righties or lefties at the boat shop, there was a running joke about one of the guys wanting his metric crescent wrench... and he wasn't kidding Had nothing to do with metric/SAE... there is a metric crescent wrench. It is the length of the handle in this case, the jaws were thinner. It was a metric wrench. That was its reference
  3. we have an Englander w/glass door. It maw is 2X as big as the door on yours. I think our stove is 4cu/ft. A gift from the neighbor. "Plumbing'" too. I like your stove kettle. We have a few that came with the house. Wife was asking what the heavy as tea kettles were for. I'm learnin' her. These intellectuals are hard as hell to teach ...
  4. leave or die. I still don't see any logic in DST. If I want midnight sun, I will move to a polar region. I can't imagine trying to get kids to bed before 10PM and it still being light outside. does make curfew laws easy. any child out after dark is in violation
  5. I feel guilty if I'm not busy. This place needs so much that I have to run away to relax I tease about us buying me a career.
  6. I must run with a more "rustic" crowd. then when you heat with wood, exclusively ... I can't say I have not BBQ'd on coals in the stove.
  7. Hi Wuzzer Family first, always. I have given up several jobs to take care of family. I have never had a job I couln't live w/o due to being unencumbered until I was 52. Kept things simple and inexpensive. I was living on $900/month before I got married. Back to you ... sorry I ramble Working for free isn't bad. The rewards are often greater than any monetary gains. Comin' across as a bit of hippy. if you really wanna enter the workforce again ... there is a certain amount of freedom staying out of mgt. Much less stress being "one of the crew"
  8. Being retired takes some practice and I won't be fully retired for another year. When the wife retires, then I get to have... well, I would go back to bed, but for me needing to get the wife up and moving toward work. I am the alarm clock, with a 1/2hr snooze
  9. I gotta get into the swing of this retirement gig. so used to doing everything myself. this sucking air for pay is nice.
  10. I hear ya. I'm def leaning toward letting the shop do it. I can do the job. Ask me if I want to was just checking ... sunrise in Boston MA 7:00 AM sunrise in Elkhart IN 8:00AM why does IN see a need to be on DST?
  11. I'm debating on letting AAA haul it to the shop. I hate working on cars, too. It not a tough job. Do I need/want the frustration? Not really and doesn't fit into my low stress lifestyle
  12. I find my activities dictated by the old car. Needs a water pump. Wife came home telling me the power steering went. I open the hood. The serpentine belt is off. I put it back on. Start the engine and it came off again. Put it back on and grab the pulley on the water pump. It wiggles. not a big job. Not overhead cam. No turbo. No supercharger. All I have to move is the water bottle for the coolant and pull 6 or 7 bolts. Don't need special tools. Just 1] 3/8 drive ratchet, a short extension and a 12mm socket.
  13. Finding music that stands the test of time ... and a good copy. if you think you can stand my rambling posts in more than one place ...
  14. thanks Bill On the news, they were talking about the passengers and harnesses. I didn't think they would be that secured into the craft.
  15. thinking that I should start looking at my vinyl. Living in the dust bowl ... I gonna need a lot of cleaner, if that will help. I have a fair collection. Hasn't seen light of day for years. Knock the cobwebs off the old Technics. See if the motor turns. For sure needs a belt. Has a ShureM91ED, if that is still good. May need to check some wiring in the circuit from the cartridge ...
  16. I had heard of the legendary k horns long long ago. Ashamed to just find out PWK was born in my hometown
  17. I should get off my duff and do something. Guess I'll have to. Can't reach the volume knob..... The neighbors think I'm bad now ... one day, I was working at the store ... a guy came in, "Hey Bill, did you hear music this AM?" "No, not over my stereo" ... he lived a block away. wait for those LaScalas ... I do keep my noisy period to hours when the AirForce is playing. That way, I'm not the only one being loud.
  18. Hide the booze and women? was watching the helicopter crash into the EastRiver. Shame. Never flown in a chopper, do they put you in 5 point harnesses?
  19. I coulda sworn it was still running when I was a kid down here. We would see busloads of workers being delivered and returning.... that was early 70's
  20. I still wanna know what happened to the Bracero Program
  21. refugees from reliable sources ... ElChapo was the nice one.... imagine what is left? and then there are "border pirates". Hijackers
  22. I was in DC a couple years ago at this time. I wanted to watch the basketball games... I couldn't stay up late enough to see the damn tip-off, even ...
  23. I had heard about the homeless problem from a friend that just came back from the BigIsland Mexican beach is 150 miles due west from me.
