  1. Thanks, I needed that, or more accurately, my wife needed that.
  2. Well, either congratulate me or spank me, I am the winner of the auction that started this thread. I hope I haven't gotten screwed, I don't see how I could have at $462.00 for a (supposedly) functioning pair of C'walls. What do you folks think? Be kind, I'm looking for affirmation here. I have exchanged several e-mails with the guy that has them and found out that 1)he has no problem letting me listen to them before I pick them up and 2)the company seems reputable having been the cinema supply business for over 25 years. If all goes well I'll be needing some help find the missing grill or figuring out how to make one. I understand that grill cloth and logo's are available from Klipsch. Now I'm going to open myself up for a beating. Whats the worse that could happen? I vaguely remember uttering that statement just before winding the spring on my mother-in-law's new garage door, That didn't go well at all. They were able to re-attach the fingers, however.
  3. I'd really like to buy the 10.5's and the C-5 if you ever decide to sell them
  4. O.K., don't laugh, I have been using Netzero for 5 or 6 years now and absolutely love it! They have just come out with "High Speed", an alternative to broadband/cable. What they do is compress the data before sending it. Still using the same dial-up connection but the average accelleration rate is 941%! (just checked the cool little statistics thingey) Now, it does not incerase the download rate for files, attachments, video or pictures but it gives you the option to see original images or exclude certain websites from high speed altogether. Since all I do is surf websites and use e-mail it is the perfect solution for me. ONLY $15.00/MONTH! Their regular dial-up service is only $9.00/month. The service has NEVER gone down and I have never had an access problem.
  5. STL Here are som places to check out. Some are really good. There are a couple that deal in ultra,ultra, ultra high-end stuff. Makes for interesting reading anyway. http://www.audiogon.com/ http://www.audioconsultants.com/ http://www.usedaudioequipment.com/ http://www.audioclassics.com/ http://www.audioweb.com/ http://members.aol.com/KDresch/audio.net.html http://www.aheadstereo.com/used.html http://www.playitagainsam.com/ http://www.musicloversauction.com/usedlstereolequipmenti.htm http://www.hawthornestereo.com/used%20equipment.html http://www.classicaudio.com/ http://www.go2audio.com/links/hifigear-used.html http://www.higherfi.com/index.html http://www.rossexchange.com/ http://www.sharedstores.qwest.net/cgi-bin/tsto.storefront/3eaa7245030c649227183fe01e65068f/Catalog/1012/2 http://www.jeffssoundvalues.com/Default.htm http://www.audioshopper.com/
  6. STL I'm all over the audio auction sites (always looking for a deal). I'll keep an eye out for what you're looking for.
  7. I appreciate the lookout. I think I'm going to try to go with the 10.5's as mains, c-5 for center and 8.5's as rears. Right now I've got two Yamaha subs (YST-160's) and they do as good of a job as my budget will allow. I'm auctioning a pair of Heresy HBR's and a single Heresy TH-SR3 right now on eBay to help finance the switch to the KSF series. Perhaps you'd like to trade your 10.5's for a near mint pair of Heresy's.
  8. Glad you like them, I sure did. (seperation anxiety) As stated by others, the impedance should not be a problem. I switched between the KG 4's and the 8 ohm Heresy's (had 'em A/B'd) with my Yamaha receiver and never had a problem. In retrospect, I think I liked the sound of the KG's better. Now all you need to do is get Klipsch'd all around.
  9. STL I don't know if a k-79k will work for you or not but you can find one here: http://audioclassics.com/cat.php3?cat=Speakers-Raw&p=2 Also, I saw a k-55 driver here: http://layneaudio.hypermart.net/prod03.htm Hope this helps
  10. Welcome to the forum Kelby. Did those KG 4's make it to you yet? Let me know how it turns out, I miss them already. By the way, I've got three Heresys on eBay now if you know anyone that is interested.
  11. I'm not saying that products and manufacturing designs and techniques shouldn't change, quite the contrary. It's just that a very important thing to remember is that to meet the demand that will be put on production something has to change. Unfortunately I fear that the sacrifice will be in the area of quality and dealer loyalty. The dealer network in place now has brought Klipsch with them on a tremendous and turbulent journey and I feel that there are certain tools which are being taken away from those dealers. The loss of these will cause alot of them to drop the line. When a large retailer like Bestbuy sees an opportunity to make profits grow they sieze it, and rightfully so. My concern is which manufacturer will offer the opportunity three years from now, after a number of dealers have decided to part ways with Klipsch. Do you think Bestbuy will consider the economics as they pertain to Klipsch when another manufacturer offers a perceived better deal? I think not. Careful the bridges that you burn, as you may have to cross them again, quickly in retreat
  12. A wise old man once told me, as his multi-million dollar corp. was going into bankruptcy due to a situation very much like this one, "I should have danced with the one what brung me 'cause at the end of the party she's the one who takes me home".
  13. Anybody out there have or know anyone that has either or both of these that they would like to part with? I have heard favorable things about them and am going to use them in my son's H/T. Also, anyone have any thoughts on the KSF series they'd like to share?
  14. HEY EVERY ONE, I NEED, VERY BADLY, TO KNOW THE IMPEDENCE OF A K-9-K AND A K-8-K WOOFER.I KNOW THE K-8-K CAME OUT OF A KG-4, BUT WHAT DOES THE K-9-K GO IN? THANKS A BUNCH SORRY, I HIT THE SUBMIT BUTTON TWICE.

  16. Gentlemen I really appreciate the input. Where do I go from here? As soon as I can find one, I'll buy another woofer (either a K22 or a K24) to match. In regards to the crossover mod's, what do you suggest? Would Klipsch be of any assistance? They have been very helpful in the past. Or, perhaps someone on this board would like to offer their assistance in a "hands on" fashion.
  17. O.K., I'm wanting to build a custom center using Heresy parts and I don't have a clue. What I want to do is put a woofer on either side of horizontally mounted mid and high horns in a cabinet grade birch plywood enclosure. I have a type E crossover, a type TH-SR3 crossover, a K-22E woofer, a K-24 woofer, two K-79K tweeters, two K-53K mid's and alot of ambition. My questions are these: With these parts, is it possible? Which crossover do I use? What modifications do I have to do to the crossover? The enclosure will have a brace on either side of the horns which will effectively create a seperate chamber for each woofer and the horns. I'm going to port the enclosure in the back behind each woofer as well. Thanks for the input. 18. Hey I was wondering if you ever purchased the TH-SR series heresy's. I just got a set of TH-SR3's and am not sure what to think yet, other than how but-ugly they are. Seems to sound O.K. as a center so far (but jeez thier ugly). One came without a woofer so I put a K-22 from a set of HBR type E Heresy's, is that a good thing? The crossovers look nothing alike. I have a Type E crossover as well, what effect would it have to install it in the (jeez thier ugly) TH-SR3. 19. Hello everybody, I recently purchased a pair of Heresey's sight unseen and when they arrived I was surprised by what I found, maybe someone out there can help. The cabinets are MDF with some kind of textured finish sprayed on (very cheap looking). The horns are plastic and the drivers are as follows: K-79 tweeter, K-52(?) mid and I'm not sure about the woofer, one was missing. The crossover is type TH-SR3. I've never seen that before. My questions are, would a K-22 woofer work with this c'over as a replacement for the one that was missing and match the other(stock)woofer? Is it possible to modify a Heresy to have two woofers (one on each side of the horns). My H/T system has Lascala's with type AL c'overs as mains, Heresy HBR's with type E c'overs for rears. I'd like to build a custom Heresy for the center using the new Heresy's, a K-22 woofer and a type E c'over which I have had for a while. Any history on these Herey's is appreciated, the serial #'s are 8624424 and 8624427 type TH-SR3 Any and all feedback is welcome. Thanks, Tony

    KSB-S1

Does anyone know where I might find a pair of KSB-S1's? This message has been edited by tony61 on 03-21-2002 at 12:05 AM
  21. Hey guys and ladies, First off let me say that this site is one of the most informative and interesting on the web. I've just upgraded to klipsch and all I can say is WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR YOU! These things are incredible! All I'm looking for now is your expert opinion on the sensibility of my purchase in regards to sonic matching and receiver quality. my system: KSB 3.1'S IN FRONT KSC-C1 CENTER SS-1'S IN BACK TWO (2) YAMAHA YST-SW160 150 WATT DUAL 8" SUBS, ONE IN FRONT AND ONE IN BACK Also, the "ks" series speakers have a metal grill. does this adversely affect the sound, should I leave them off? And lastly, the velcro pads on the SS1's grill and the Klipsch logo on the KSC-C1 have come off. How do I go about getting replacements? Thanks in advance for your help.
